Absolutely placebo. Finger dexterity and rhythm hardly transfer to Quake. This is a game where you are using the mouse to put a static 2D crosshair on a moving target. I doubt many have practiced Quake with a metronome and that is because unless it is defrag specific there is no reason to. Instrument virtuosity has nothing to do with Quake.

Actually reading and playing are two different things, if you can read and play in the same time it means your brain can synchronise two skills, not everyone can read solfège/solfeggio, many geniuses don't even know it at all, and even amongst the bests not everyone has the same level of reading skills. If you play at a good level, and also read at a good level you actually have a great capacity to combine two different tasks.

There are studies about individuals doing multi-tasking. I'm not updated really about this, I still have in my mind the old stereotype that women are better than men at this, but as far as I know there has been some denials (legit ones) on this.

Anyway you are right about these tasks being different, but you are underestimating one's capacity to do many things in the same time (seeing, moving precisely the mice according to what he sees).

It's interesting what you said about rhythm and dexterity, but this is like... not even what's music is about only :D.

Yeah as somebody said below this is really good practice for instagib. It doesn't reflect your in game skills but its still better than nothing and I do notice difference compared to when I tried it on a laptop LCD.

my windows sensitivity is very high so i can barely move the mouse with any precision whatsoever, making games like this nothing but pointless

the hitboxes are beyond big, you could set your mouse to 2000 dpi and max windows sens and it wouldn't make a massive difference

i did it was a dell mouse that craps up at .5m/s and did 1:50 so

edit: did 1:40 with 1200 dpi at 8/11 windows

From all these tests it seems 0.166ms to be my average and not counting a 0.32ms and 0.99ms where I got lucky. This just made me love my CRT more to be honest
