atm let's say that you're in the top20, you're actually a sub-top player while i would rate rapha or cypher or even evil at the top.

but with your creativeness, and also the fact that you're a smart player, like i said, if you keep playing regularly you'll be at the very top soonish :D

That config is a mess, looks like cypher's was exec'd in there which is one of the messiest of all.

I'm going to clean it.

Something strange I noticed:

A bunch of keys are bound to cg_simpleItems "0", each weapon, mwheelup/down, and even the very useful as a weapon key with wasd: 'c' key. There is no place where simpleItems is ever set to 1. So yeah, incredibly bizarre.

U haven't looked at my zoom then. Whenever I zoom in (mouse2) all items become simple and minimum size, so ammo crates are not in the way with some angles. Later somebody fixed me a nice script that automaticly switches the items back to normal upon zooming out, so all the "cg_simpleitems 0" keys are kind of useless since I have this script.

And that's right, I took Cyphers cfg and edited it. It's very messy, I don't know what 90% of the stuff in there is doing...

EDIT: btw are you using this accuracy toggle? I only ask because you have no key bound to it, but no key bound to +acc either.

I don't know exactly what you mean... I used to have a key to show accuracies... but then after some QLprism update that key is now bound to update pings.

Shrug, was some junk accuracy toggle in there. Better to use the built-in one.

I bound 'c' to show accuracy since it didn't seem to be in use.

Nothing was changed other than the bind c +acc , just cleaned up and can be used with resetting defaults.

I used to have to just hold the button down to zoom, but the guy who made that script couldn't make the script like that. So since then I had to press zoom again to zoom out and since I got used to it I actually like it.

My rocketjump script is gone

I removed it since it appeared to be using the old mechanism of +movedown and such. Since yaw/pitchspeed is locked now this would do a terrible thing (looking down slowly).

What you can do is have a script that combines both jump and shoot for maximum height, but one still needs to look down manually. I got the best height with this:

I do it this way too, I just change my personal config when it's something that I want to keep "forever".

If I have an autoexec I can change a bunch of settings, quit the game, load the game again and everything is back to normal.

If I want to keep a setting for a while, I do writeconfig autoexec

If I like it and want to keep it always, then I update my nice and neat config by editing it manually.

Then I can delete autoexec/rep/qz and reset defaults if I'm on another machine, if I run into some odd problem, or if I just feel like it.

The autoexec.cfg file itself isn't _that_ messy really. It's definitely much cleaner than say, cypher.cfg :-)) It's terrible though when people do exec cypher.cfg and then writeconfig autoexec

That's a very new thing. Someone told me that on Sinister, you can always see the enemy hiding at the RA pillar when you're using Tankjr. I use keel, so I installed a script that when I press '4', the enemy model changes to tank, and then changes back to keel when I press 4 again.

But I noticed the first time when you do this, after loading a new map, there is a little bit of lag. So by binding that stuff to my ready up button, I'm sure that lag won't occur in the actual game.

there's x situations in which you can see tank a lot faster, vital especially in duel

But people tell me keel still has better hitboxes, which has been my main reason (along with being too lazy to get used to tanks sounds) to stick to keel.

Well there's the option with r_lodbias to make tank less "round" and therefore smaller, fitting the hitbox better; but after some months I switched back to keel as well.

Baksteen, could you please share your latest version of your config with us?
(your cleaned and afterwards changed version).

cg_waterwarp 0 just turns off the 'wavy view' effect when under water, but it doesn't really matter since I don't think there are any duel maps that have enough water to submerge oneself in.

Just an observation : ) 2.6 at 1150 dpi is 13.9 cm/360.

The most recent config I could find was on the 102 website from feb 24, 2013, and it states sens 0.9, yaw 0.020, which is equivalent to 0.818182 at yaw 0.022.

The last word I got on what dpi he was using was 1800, so that would be ~28.2 cm/360.

Of course that was over a year ago, so who knows.

Lorfa, how do you clean a config? You just know all commands and delete the non working ones?

Yes.

I also know the defaults so I take them out, so that upon config reset it renders any unlisted cvars as default. This greatly lessens the size of the config file.

I also take out unbounded alias/set scripts unless they appear to have an important standalone use.

Then I just format it nice and neat with info at the top, most importantly the mouse dpi as of course sens means something quite different at different dpis, but accel is radically different.

For example in baksteen's config he has 0.1 accel, but that's at 800 dpi, which would be equivalent to 0.4 accel at 400 dpi. So his sens/accel are actually more like rapha's.

Usually the config is 100 % accurate to the original, but like in baksteen's config I made three errors so I guess I'm not infallible. In my defense there was a cypher config exec'd in there, which is one of the worst in circulation. There are so many misspelled cvars and cvars that sound just like their correct counterparts that it is easy to make a mistake. No excuse though since it's nothing I can't handle usually.

There is a config sorter somewhere, but it doesn't really do so much and it's not up to date afaik. I'm thinking of writing my own but I'm lazy :-/

Less than 10 kb is very likely to be clean.

The autoexec is ~15 kb.

Cypher config.. 61 kb.

It's easy to make modifications and keep track of them/test them.

It makes it easier to know mentally what settings you use and why in case you're somewhere without your config and have to type in your settings.

It is much easier for other people to read and learn/test from.

Could you make it so you could have drop downs to compare different configs against each other?

Will it be web based? You could have a kind of database where configs are uploaded and stats generated to get most common/average settings etc
