Have you tried it? I don't know about others experience with that software but mine was horrible at best. I had to reboot and reinstall the thing at least 7-8 times easily to make it successfully work.
Most of the time the mouse just wouldn't respond after installing Synapse and rebooting the system.

Took me about 20-30mins just to have the mouse work when Synapse was installed. That shit is just horrible.

Was this when it first came out. I had issues then too. I recently tried it because I wanted to try my brothers deathadder because he is a g400s now. I didn't have any problems. I installed the software and had to reboot once right after installing the software.

That is weird. It could be your antivirus or something else. Or maybe there still is problems for older mice. As far as I know most people don't have problems with it anymore.

yap, in my case, no problems either. Just needed 1 computer reboot. And after uninstalling it, mouse's settings were remembered.

i have 2 abyssus v1, none of them jitters, whatever the surface i'm using, and now the DA 2k13 works flawlessly, guess i'm a lucky guy ? :D

some time ago i had conflict issues (especially with SS engine) due to a virtual device, HID razer something. fixed by removing it.

I never installed the steelseries drivers but the logitech ones were indeed installed.

I know but it doesn't work that way. You can't just keep on adding various delays to ping, some of these things happen simultaneously.

Otherwise we're all playing with "300 ping" if you count reaction time, input lag, display refresh, 125hz, switch activation etc.

While it look true on paper, I don't think overclocking from 125hz to 1000hz will lower your ping for 7ms, same with switch activation.

you shouldnt really compare different delays to ping since there's an advanced antilag ingame(unless you are playing with cg_nopredict or smth)
But all the other delays you mentioned are actually additive and all sum up so it's never bad to reduce any of them

So If one mouse have 25ms delay and other 1ms? Its not like 25ms + your ping? and 1ms + your ping? Let's say my LCD have 24ms input lag, I will see enemy later 24ms, then my enemy with 1ms. Some imput lags not sum, but some are. I am not expert, just curious.

Try proper configured pc & cfg (stable 250fps without any micro stuttering, not 500/1000Hz good mouse, etc) with this monitor connected with DVI and you will feel what is "low input lag". 120Hz & 144Hz difference isn't so big like 60Hz & 120Hz but 24 more frames per second and less time between frames (6.9ms at 144Hz vs 8.3ms at 120Hz) can be noticed by most players.

2 years with the abyssus and a year with a salmosa and a year and a half with a deathadder 3g, all still working.

My brother's v1 naga had an actuator grind down, only issue I've seen first hand with a razer mouse.

But what do I know, maybe the stock that came to Kuwait was superior...., nah doubt it shit was imported from the states.

i'm using my goliathus speed alpha edition for 2 years now, still working like a charm considering i've been taking care of it. got my 1 years old abyssus (wich i gave to my brother) still looking like new. problem is in betwen of those i've had several products that broke after a few months. it's normal with this big brands. you can read about such processes in production of the biggest companies - that's normal they are on purpose delivering such flawed products, everyone should know that as it's actually quiet popular, there were even some discovery and shit films about such companies and such market moves that they are using. i really don't give a shit about yours 3+2 of mine products that are good quality while i have millions examples of unusable shit. i have no respect to razer, i have my full right to say how bad my experience was with their products

if you didn't realise that yet just type in google "razer broken" or w/e and check out how many ppl had the same experience as me - using their products for 2-3 weeks then having to switch to something else.

To me all the new logitech mice have cheap switches, they all eventually get the double clicking malfunction. Since about 2011 the g9x, g100 and g100s all had the left click switch malfunction. The g100s being the worst, broke in literally 30 days.

Only my old g1 from like 2007 still works, the older mice might have had better build quality.

looks like a bigger version of the krait 2k13 with slightly less 'agressive' shape and an old abyssus sensor.

i love the krait's shape, it just feels right in my hand with my type of mouse gripping.

i also like a lot the sensor in the old abyssus, it tracks well without any accel/prediction/anglesnapping shit, and malfunction speed is quite hight.

dunno tho which sensor i prefer between the 3.5G and 4G. Afaik 4G has even higher malfunction speed, but other than that i fail to find any real major difference in 'pure' tracking between 3.5G and 4G.

razer synapse doesn't bother me personally. I'm currently using the DA 2K13. I installed synapse, set it to 1800dpi (default dpi setting) 1000hz, then uninstalled it and restarted my computer and then bam! It remembers the settings even with synapse uninstalled.

I hope synapse works the same way with the new abyssus, because let's be honest, synapse isn't as bad as people think :)

I'm very tempted to buy this new mouse BUT, I already have the DA 2k13 which is already an excellent mouse even if it's quite big :D. I personally don't mind if the mouse is big or small, i can adapt to basically every kind of shape (except for some weird shape like the razer naga or steelseries ikari optical, shit shapes imho :p)

krait 2k13 is definitely smaller than abyssus v1. And also smaller than the original razer krait. It's even smaller than kinzu lol :D, the difference isn't huge but is still there :). completely different shape than kinzu tho

I have. 1800CPI/1000Hz polling, the best max tracking speed I get is 1.22m/s which is shit. May be an issue on my end or a faulty mouse, we'll get more results from people who ordered it. I get 3.5m/s with a TeamScorpion Zealot JR though. Also it seems like the LOD can't be adjusted with this one. Or it's nowhere to be found on Synapse, either I'm blind, or you can't adjust it on this "entry level" mouse (that did cost me more than 50€ though).

There's 3 possible scenario's:

1) My Abyssus is broken
2) Their firmware is messed up and needs work
3) It's the same crap from the PCBang DA

Currently mailing back and forth with Razer support. Finally got the request to send it in for a swap/repair.

So far everyone on OC.net has the same crappy malfunction speed.

I hope to god it's fixable through firmware because (without synapse, but stuck at 1800 dpi then) it feels like there's no smoothing and the shape is really nice compared to the old Abyssus.

Nice shape, barely (no?) smoothing. 3888 sensor... I grab it in my hand I was like finally, no more flaws.

I try to flick a 180 and I think a vein in my head popped.

I did install synapse and installed updates... no difference.

For some ODD reason however, plugging it into a USB 3.0 port however, doubled values in enotus to 2.54 m/s and it no longer malfunctioned at 1.25'ish m/s.

Seems like this is a bugged release imo.

Best people sit tight and wait for Razer to fix their crap... yet again.

If you want to remove it you better have new skates ready, it's impossible to get the defaut ones off cleanly, most of the time the plastic will come alone. :D

I also removed the wire and mini pcb for the light even if that's insignificant to the weight.

I can't find where the "adjustable LOD and surface calibration" feature anywhere in the synapse drivers and I think I've looked everywhere. LOD is fairly high.

How does it compare to g100s for you so far?

I definitely like having a more centered sensor, feels somewhat easier making micro adjustments with shaft.

I couldn't reproduce over 5m/s of max speed like Kirisu did, the best I got was 2.79m/s. That being said I'm not even sure if I have the latest firmware.
Are firmware automatically updated when installing Synapse? Or do I have to contact razer to get the new ones and manually install them?

The shape doesn't feel like the old Abyssus or the Krait. It's wider and shorter than the Krait, I can kinda have the palm of my hand resting on the back of the mouse (but barely, might feel uncomfortable after a long period of use) which is a must for me so I'm ok with the shape so far.
I suspect most people won't have a problem with the shape.

Right now it feels like there is a TON of negative accel when making fast movements and it is very much bothering for my sensitivity.

I agree. Side buttons are awful and highly illogical. You literally have to stop moving your mouse to properly use them. Think about it for a second: your thumb holds the mouse in place so to hit the side button, you have to stop the mouse to move your thumb up to those buttons. Even if you have finagled a way to move the mouse while hitting the side buttons, you still lose accurate control of the mouse. This puts you at a competitive disadvantage vs players who have those buttons bound to the keyboard or at the topmost portion of the mouse.

What I'd like to see MAYBE is a mouse with three finger buttons for the scroll wheel it could theoretically work to put it just above the new middle finger button, at the tip of your middle finger so you could still easily flick and press it without it interfering with your grip of the mouse.

I think side buttons became a common request along with high DPI for lazy people who play MMO's and don't want to hit the keys on their keyboard and don't have to aim at all and just play with one hand while tab targetting. Terrible mouse design.

You said you use them as back buttons. Backspace is so difficult to press! I'd rather those side buttons not be there so they can't be accidentally hit/have to install mouse software to disable them. Well.. i bought one... not sure how they thought the mouse was ok to release in this state...
even with the beta firmware the mouse tracking pales in comparison to a 1st gen non jitter version abyssus.. pretty sad to be honest.

Quick rundown 48 hours in:
- I removed the weight
- sanded the sides with 2000 grit sandpaper so the plastic sides are alot more grippy now (they were making my hand sweat before)
- Using MS 1.1 mouse skates instead of the stock feet on the base.
- beta firmware installed, still having some sensor issues, in its current state the sensor cannot compare to the 1st gen non-jitter abyssus (i prefer the first by a margin, 1st gen sensor feels bulletproof in comparison, tested side by side).
- Running Synapse software adds input lag of some sort and reduces the max tracking speed from what I can tell (400dpi, 1000hz)
- Closing Synapse improves the max tracking speed and lag but halves the dpi so basically set the mouse to 800 dpi in Synapse and close it if you want to run the mouse at 400 dpi for a better experience.

Cons:
- They removed the hardware dpi and polling switches to force you to use Synapse (BAD MOVE)
- Default dpi without Synapse installed is 1800 @ 500 instead of 400 @ 1000
- Tracking inconsistency with Synapse running

Conclusion:
Shape is a toss-up between the two, in its current state i would take the 1st gen non jitter no question. I may look at transferring the 1st gen internals to the 2nd gen if possible, TBD.

PS lift off is also very high and accuracy is affected setting the mouse back down, I tried the scotch tape trick with up to 3 layers of scotch tape but didn't help too much...

guys, this mouse arrived in my hands today, and i tried in 6 matches online, is absolutely brilliant, no jitters, installed synape, switched to 1600 dpi, and i'm all happy, only minor issue right button being hit with my fingers, if there's sth binded on Mouse2, then it's a problem several times per game

Ah yeah, mouse fails at fast swipes after synapse is installed and deinstalled, writing to razer for firmware update to be sent to me, so it fixes this crap

Zowie mice are pretty half arsed at the end of the day not in the same vain as razer though.

I don't like their switches, not good if play games with fast repetitive clicking.

Bought this mouse yesterday for 38 EUR.
It’s quite light (80g) but it felt really bottom heavy compared to the front.
The textured sides didn’t provide any grip and they were really smooth, wouldn’t recommend this mouse for people with dry hands due to the surface of the mouse.
The cord is not braided and it’s pretty good, doesn’t tangle.
The switches are nice and responsive compared to Zowie mice.
Sensor felt like it had some smoothing even though it’s using the same sensor as DA 3.5G which was perfect when I used it. The drivers at first added some input lag that you could feel (similar amount to BenQ Blur Reduction), but when I reinstalled it was fine.
I thought the size of this mouse would be good enough for my hands (around 20cm wide), I tried some old A4Tech mouse with similar dimensions which felt fine for my hands but when using the Abyssus it made my hand feel awkward.

Looking for a new mouse again :(.

Install synapse, 1600dpi, update firmware, deinstall synapse, 1800 dpi = perfect mouse, build quality good, no sensor jitter or very minor on desktop only, not in game at all, no more finger cut as with 2009 aby! grip is firm, not a lot of dust can get inside, gaming is smooth in cs go and quake3, no need additional buttons for me, love it. THIS IS WHAT I WAS WAITING FROM ABYSSUS when i bought it in 2010

also my light isnt constant, it's like on 4 seconds or smth then fades off for 2- 3 seconds then repeat, dunno if thats normal

Got this today, installed firmware update and set 800dpi in synapse and closed it to get 400dpi.

With synapse closed I can't notice any mouse smoothing etc and performs well

However would be a lot nicer if the mouse actually worked with drivers properly out the box like its supposed to. Messing around with drivers is really tedious when a product should really work straight out the box. If they would fix the awful drivers, this would be a perfect mouse.

Am I the only one to have problems with the wheel ?

When I play CS:GO, I have to scroll 2 times to actually switch or jump. Btw, this problem doesn't happen with any other mouse and I tried with & without synapse but the problem persist.

I don't know if i have new firmware. Can someone send me the update?

Ok, seems that my mouse has newest firmware. I installed Synapse, changed DPI to 1000 and it feels ok. Should i uninstall Synapse for better precision?

omfg i LOVE this mouse. hmm can't see anything wrong with Synapse.

I like build quality, mousewheel, the shape, the weight 80g, god damn sensor! mouse feet are amazing too!

Goliathus Speed: 1-2 CD
QcK: 1-2 CD
imo there is no jitter but i need to test it more.

max speed:
- with enotus, probably by mistake 8+ m/s lol
- 1000 Hz enotus 4,69 m/s - 1800 dpi
- 500 Hz enotus 3,82 ms - 1800 dpi
with MouseTester max speed seems to be the same for both 3,5 ms (score is always lower than enotus)


I am not sure if 1000 Hz is stable or not, enotus shows thats its not... but MouseTester tool showing that its stable.

sidegrip looks slippery

Yeah it sucks, slippery and made my fingers sweat so I sanded it off with 400 grit, now I have no issues.
The top of the mouse has the best texture for my hands, grainy plastic.

Anyone know if it's possible to get 450 dpi with this mouse?

yes but you need synapse

i download synapse and can only get 400 - 500, no 450 :(
i got abyssus 2014

then go for 400 or 500 and adjust your sens accordingly ;)

How are razer's mouses regarded?

It is my impression razer mice are generally regarded as technically good, which is true if you take deathadder chroma or abyssus, but at the same time flimsy.

From my personal experience and what I read the customer support is generally 'abysmal' pardon the pun, if your razer stuff is defective you most likely won't be compensated and only waste your time with the support.

90% of razer mice are crap for "casual" gamers, MMO players, wannabe "hardcore gamers".

BUT

at least the Deathadder (any version of it) and the abyssus (any version of it too) are very good mice. The krait 2013 is good too, if you like very small mice with good sensor.
not sure about the "new" diamondback, but i heard it's decent.

so yeah

if you want to go for a razer mouse, you have to choose between deathadder, abyssus or krait (like i said, not sure about the new diamondback so i won't put it there).
The rest of their mice are bad, real bad :)

I had 3 deathadders in under a month glitch out. All had mouse 1 or 2 fail. Bestbuy got sick of giving me a new one so they paid me cash for the inconvenience, instead of store credit. Razer will also send you refurbs if your device breaks.
