the PC area is the most civilized and clean part, no doubt. You probably wouldn't appreciate the chains and gas masks hanging from the walls. Let's just say I was an angsty teenager
Easy, gonna be exactly the same as DH (minus skull candle 'cause summer etc). Might fall asleep to some in front of the TV too when timezones get too unfortunate. slightly less dark
I have the same shit. Well, CPU is really terrible and not efficient for anything at 1333 Mhz and GPU can barely keep stable 85 fps and could not reach even 60 fps on maps like Asylum or Siberia. I think it could be better, the GPU is not a complete disaster though. It may be CPU's fault because when it chokes then the render loop probably skips so the logic could keep up.
Anyway, this is my only computer at the moment and unfortunately I have to play QL on it. Lowest possible settings applied and resolution set to 1024 x 600. As for the screen size, I will not comment this, however it is playable at some point.
In overall, I do not recommend this netbook to anyone.
actually its pretty shitty, but my main machine is a mac so i bought it you know. but i will swap it for a filco soon when i figured out which swtiches. unfortunately there is NO possibility what so ever to test cherry mx switches around here even though i live in a major european capital...
ducky:
+ very superior build quality
+ nice and shiny led effects
+ media buttons etc.
- not good for PBT caps because of LEDs.
- surface is a little more shiny
filco:
+ even better superior build quality
+/- no Led
+ easier to replace keycaps (more sets available + no leds)
+ surface is more rough and grippy
- more expensive
- no media buttons etc.
also make sure if you get a ducky to get a ducky shine 3 as they are still manufactured in taiwan. the ducky zero ones are lower quality products from china.
I have one coming tomorrow with a 30 day return period (Amazon returns are unbeatable, always buy there if you can for that reason), will post findings here in case others find it helpful.
red switches. i'm not sure for typing. they are really awesome for quake though...
i wanted to get brown but i read it's neither here nor there so i went full RED
red is perfect
you dont accidently hit keys while typing that often if you get used to they keyboard a little bit, since there is a noticable resistance on each key, but it is very light. a lot lighter than apple keyboard, but since it has to go down 2mm for keypress, its easier to do but not do accidently do. if you know what i mean.
and once you have the key down, magic starts. just wiggle a little and you press again. ql dodge + 200%
wanted to ask the same question.
i assume its a filco .. with red switches .. which cost ca. 160.
what is the difference between a cherry board 3.0 mx red and the filco ones except the fact that it costs 100 less.
let me explain it like this:
when osama drops a bomb onto washington you can use the filco to strike back the bomb to bagdhad like with a baseball bat. when you have a cherry board and it falls down from your desk it is broken.
tl;dr: there is no board in the world that has better build quality. if you need that go for it, if not, you dont need to pay 50$ more than for other baords that offer the same mostly.
most commonly you will hear about the ducky shine which is 120euros or something. it has ridiculous lighting features, but i didnt like that keys are curved outwards and that is has shiney surface. i want to have rough surface which only filco offers.
As pathetic as this thread is, I kind of like it. But I will not post a picture of an arbitrary computer that could be in Germany, Ghana, Australia or even England.
I haven't tried any other switches than these ones, but as far as I know the only difference between red and black switches is the actuation force which is 45 grams on the red ones and 60 grams on the black ones.
With the exception of the monitor we basically have the same setup, at least mousepad and keyboard :D I have my WMO plugged in because my Deathadder is acting up, but I don't use it.
still having like 5 most likely working crts on my storage. I don't know if any of them are any good but at least they are from pretty unknown companies.
