I fixed my 1 FPS issue by buying second FPS.

have you tried com_idlesleep 0? it's a fix for dropping framerate, not sure if it would help your case. you should certainly try updating your graphics driver as well.

You get 1fps for two reasons.

1. No open GL subsystem, so despite have an OpenGL card nothing is using it, you're ending up with software rendering.
you check this from the r_lastValidRenderer cvar if you can take how long it takes to bring the console down. or find it in qzconfig.cfg after you cleanly quit your 1fps show (alt-f4 easiest way at that frame rate).

You'll see it say something about software, instead of Intel/ ATI or nvidia.

(re) Install gfx drivers from GPU manufacturer, not windows update.

2. The cvar cl_avidemo not being 0, so it's rendering frames to disk.

You need graphics drivers otherwise the frames are being rendered by the CPU which is much less optimized.

You need a computer, otherwise the frames will be rendered in your mind which is much less optimized.
