so they use the low cost sensor of the G100s again, and after it reaches its maximum capability of tracking speed, the gyroscope and accelerometer of the fusion engine(which works only with LGS installed) takes over the tracking. LOL

Read it again it says you can only disable and enable it with the software installed. It is on by default without having drivers installed unless you use the driver to disable it and then uninstall the driver. This is what CPate from Logitech said.

"The Fusion engine enable/disable feature is for while the software is running only. Basically, if you disable the Fusion Engine you are testing the capabilities of the optical sensor only."
That to me means you can't disable or enable without the software like he said. No where does he say you need the drivers to use the Fusion Engine feature.

Not really. It is basically a G402's with better switches, more buttons, and a fail safe for the low max tracking speed. I personally like the way the G100s track and with no smoothing under 2000 cpi it is even better also according to CPATE all smoothing over 2000 cpi is done in under 1 ms because of the arm 32 processor. Thee only downside is the weight. It weights as much as an ime 3.0 which to me isn't to bad but it still would be nice if it was between 80 and 90g.

The selling point isn't the 500+ ips. It is no smoothing under 2000 cpi and even over 2000 cpi with the smoothing there is less than 1 ms of input lag caused by smoothing. You can't get more responsive than that.

why not just buy g100s?

The G100s has smoothing, can only be polled at 500hz, has a low malfunction speed, and it is ununclear how much input lag the smoothing on the g100s causes. All processing done on the g402 is done in under 1 ms even when you are over 2000 cpi which is when smoothing will turn on.

How are people testing "smoothing"?

Same sensor != same mouse.

Considering companies using the same sensor can result in very different performance out of a mouse is proof of this.

I don't have any completely legit source saying that even g100s has smoothing. I know most of the logitech g series has it. There are a lot other people who claim it feels Ike it has smoothing winz is one of them. I also have used the g400s, g100s, g502, and a lot of other mice with 144hz moniter. What I have noticed is mice wi the a lot of smoothing tend to show it in paint. When I draw circles quick in paint mice that have smoothing end up with edges. Mice without smoothing lIke the ime 3.0, wmo, g502, and some mice with a 3090 sensor make circles without the edges. The g100s has edges in the circles on all three native cpi settingso with the drivers not installed. I am unaware if the sensor in the g100s could apply or disable smoothing at certain cpi setting. But from my tests I would assume not. But according to CPate the g402 does. I am sure the sensor is not 100% identical. I sure it is modified from the one that is used in the g100s.

Smoothing isn't a huge deal. Unless you are using 144hz monitor or crt your never even going to notice it. Smoothing can cause input lag but I think the g100s doesn't have much input lag from it. I didn't like the g100s but this may have been do to negative acceleration from the low max tracking speed.

i use a 120 hz monitor, oh well. hope i like it, if not, it was only $20. was getting tired of how big and heavy my 3.5g is and i use medium-high sens so i don't think i'm going to have any kind of speed issues. WELP

You should be fine. The worst case scenario is you may notice it tracks differently which was going to happen anyway because of the different sensor and shape.

well, i got it and have played a few different games with it. honestly i can't feel any difference between this sensor and the da 3.5g's, it just feels smoother. love the shape, weight, and feel of it. might just be because of the weight/size but it feels faster than the da. not sure what that other guy was talking about with the shitty feet, they seem good to me.

Like I said worst case scenario the mouse feels smoothed. That isn't really a bad thing if the smoothing isn't very strong and doesn't cause input lag.

I can feel whatever weird shit is going on with the g100s, it doesn't affect my aim, but it does throw my brain off a bit.

What do you guys mean by smoothing? Angle snapping/prediction? I don't recall ever saying that about the g100s. :p

Well it should be depending on the degree of smoothing and whether or not it causes input lag. But as far as the g100s goes it shouldn't be considered an issue.

I have the g100s and I feel no smoothing. there's only a few sensors that don't feel messed up to me because of smoothing, the wmo sensor and the g100s sensor. everything from razer felt odd, same with steelseries. zowie am felt odd too, might of been my pad though

regardless, g100s sensor feels really awesome. I did tons of paint tests and I felt like there was no smoothing

From what I have read smoothing is dialed down when you use 500hz as opposed to 1000hz. I believe the g100s has smoothing but as I mention I don't believe it effects the sensor much at all compared to other mice. The steel series rival for example has smoothing that causes input delay which to me along with it's hefty size and weight make it unusable. I have not tried the most recent drivers for the steelseries rival so I don't know if they did anything to help it. The g400s has smoothing but it doesn't seem to cause a very noticeable delay like the ss rival and to me feel okay me. I didn't actually have any problems with the g100s except the low max tracking speed.

maybe drivers affect it too? I didn't install it and use the default 800dpi, i think default hz is 500 too

Yeah. I never said the g100s was a bad mouse because it isn't. This is a very nice upgrade to the sensor though. The only down side is the weight but 103g isn't bad that is less than the ime 3.0.

For me, it's a 33 g overweight to buy a mouse.

Will the accel be fixed? Also this guy tested the gyroscope through the feeling of his mouse. Going to wait until someone actually tests it properly.

I don't know if the acceleration will be fixed, but from what I understand it is minor and consistant. I don't see how someone could test the gyroscope more thoroughly. The only thing I could thing of is to use a mouse testing software at slow to medium sped a and then test again while using moving the mouse faster than at least 4 meters per second without slowing down at all and then comparing results. Also the slight acceleration is likely not going to make you be off by enough to matter and also if your turning around that quickly your not going to be accurate with or without a very minor amount of accel.

Some are bought yeah, others are review samples. Typically if it's potentially good product and people want feedback on it, and i can't get a sample, I'll buy it myself. Logitech are sending me the G402 after my G502 review.

they say it feels very close to it when u have it in ur hand, even when it looks so different.
they also modified the right "lip", which might be an actual improvement over the MX-shape.

g502 feels close with most conventional grips, so I'd assume the g402 would too.

Though, I think having that right lip worked better for those who used a three finger on top grip like me, which I don't use on most other mice.

i wasnt saying g400s had input lag(I havent tried it myself) but i read some ppl who said it had, which is a pretty serious thing about a mouse imo :)

CPate from logitech stated the problematic sensors(S3095 in the g400s?) to have about 4-7ms smoothing delay, while the sensor used in the G402 has zero smoothing under 2000DPI, and above 2000dpi it's still only delayed by under 1ms.

Let me rephrase.. the design of hardware architecture and said variables of operation differ between sensors.

This can have an impact on perceived latency, but abiding to firmware/SROM being clean without added properties.

G400S does have set delay (smoothing); granted I do not know the exact amount.

G402 is essentially a "raw" sensor up until 2000 DPI. The sensor is capable of up to 4000 DPI native on hardware level, though.

Did you have any negative experiences with the "Fusion Engine"? Could you feel the it kick in at all?

I had a concealed issue where the sensor would fail to track before fusion engine could kick in. This resulted in a early/random malfunction.

Revised hardware and firmware corrected this and I haven't been able to replicate this issue to the same extreme.
