My story is straight, you do realize, I haven't cheated since the ban on CGT/KiNG3. All the bans on the account I made after that was banned for CIRCUMVENTING.

CS:GO is pretty fun and the matchmaking is pretty good. I'll probably play that at least a little bit. I've got like 50 hours in it, we'll see if I get bored or not. I kind of suspect that I will, it's really repetitive.

LoL is shit but I have lots of friends irl that play so there's always that. Not the greatest game but playing with friends makes it a lot better.

I'd go back to Q3 again if there was a revival of some kind. The NA scene is pretty dead though outside of CPM (which is merely "less dead").

Reflex/Reborn seem worth trying. Still following Reflex, haven't paid much attention to Reborn in a while though.

Like I said, I have been playing CSGO a lot lately (even more than quake), and this past week I managed to rank up from a "Silver IV" to nearly a "Gold Nova III" I'm currently a Gold Nova II, but I'm sure after one or two games I will be GN3.

I've tried LoL, but I don't know how people like it. When I'm in the game, I feel like I should just stop wasting my time learning the game and go back to Runescape.

I wish Q3 gets revived.

Reborn has been in development for years now and still isn't even nearly done, Reflex is making more progress than Reborn lol

Mobas in general are kind of dumb that way. There's just such an absurd amount of knowledge to retain if you want to do well at it that most people (including me) hit a wall pretty early on and just go, "what's the point of learning all this shit?". Like I enjoy playing, but goddamn if I'm gonna learn the details of a hundred fucking champs and 86 billion active/passive items.

And yeah, Reflex looks much more promising to me.

Ever since Runescape turned to shit, I haven't really had an interest with MOBA's especially since because I used to play MOBA's on the daily with my brother at those times.

To be honest, I feel sorry for ZorakWar when/if he ever duels in the new ruleset. ZorakWar has earned up a huge skill of being able to time 4 items (possibly more) to the second. And the fact that the new ruleset tells you the timings just may mess him up xD.

I won't stop playing Quake either, I'll still play Quake 3, Q2, Q1 and etc. I only play QL because it's Quake 3 Online (how I define it). And considering Quake 3 was my first game when I was 5 years old, it was amazing. Now looking at QL in its state, it certainly feels like something special is dieing. :/

I've set up a free server on Amazon where I play with some friends once in a while. We can play any Quake we like, any mod, whatever. The only things I miss are packed FFA and CA servers.

Honestly, we all should have bought pro a long time ago. The "problem of the commons" will always be present in free to play games- especially ones that no longer have support from outside advertisers. I played quakelive for 3 years before I bought premium and I just upgraded to pro this week- just before the irc chatlogs were released :( I'm not sure where quakelive will end up, but it may be ok in the end. I will do my part to keep vanilla servers running for new players should they want to join.

Yeah but the thing is now the new gameplay doesn't represent the one that will be played by subscribers. So basically if someone likes the new gameplay they will pay and end up playing on a harder one that will stop them from paying.

BF4 is as bad as QL in terms of developer support and intelligence.

The game is broken beyond repair. If it starts getting too intense on your computer good luck hitting anything, the hit registration goes beserk...

I did notice that b4 when I first installed BF4 on My Laptop, so quit it, but thought it might work better now since I got a desktop? Worth trying? Or maybe just go CS - GO, only played limited CS b4 but might loads it up and learn it.

Depending on the settings, you never know certain weapon Loadouts might be good in certain mods. But not like proper hardcore TDM and FFA ofc, unless they increase armor values etc.

Well, Quakes come and go.

QL is an ongoing project that had its highs and certainly lots of lows. The thing that amazed me is that no matter what the devs do, its all worse or more maligned.

People who were with QL since closed beta (2008) might say more on the subject of QL; I'm on the bandwagon since 2009 and honestly I'm too tired and too concerned with real-life matters like managing my firm or day-to-day activities to waste my memory on all the changes that happened. And there was quite a lot of them.

Long story short, it seems that the developers are basically clueless as to which direction QL should go. I, along with many others, proposed to leave QL alone, just add some important things, most important of which is the anticheat. It is really a shame that paying customers have to watch, demo and send info to support about cheaters. I didn't pay the money to be Inspector Gadget lurking on DM6 or whatever catching aimbots and wallhacks. I paid money to have fun with the game that I like to play.

Instead of making anticheat, and lots of other changes proposed by players, id decided to fiddle with payments, graphics, browsers, gametypes, etc etc. That would be good IF other important issues had been addressed. But it appears that the id software is going the short way towards our pockets, leaving complaints out and letting only their own ideas in.

Given this, and having quite a history with Quake, I will say that QL is a prime example of how creating game in a way of ongoing project is not necessarily a good course of action. In older Quakes all you got was a disc or discs with the game, some patches, expansion packs and that was finito from dev point of view. Real crown jewel and fun was the modding community that made insane skins, maps, mods, gametypes, whatever you desired. They did that using the existing engines and game environment as a base. They didn't cooperate with id nor asked them for anything.

Enter QL and supposed "cooperation" between QL devs and community. The developers, having their pet project, care about money and sales. That is good. But they had an immense community, community of longtime quakers who could help this game A LOT and add content to it. That entire idea was shat on and what happened was a sordid case of "we take what we want from your ideas, not consulting it with anyone, and be glad we implement this"

This game still has potential. All I ask the devs is to rethink their ideas and stop for a while and think about this: QL has only a chance to stay alive if the oldschool community stays aboard. Newbs come and go, and they will stay for good only when properly introduced and schooled. Who will do this, Jesus Christ? Who will maintain the community core and peer support? Mickey Mouse? Who will provide vaild input about game changes and propose ideas to be used in next updates, Michelle Obama?

Don't piss on us, id Software. We stood alongside you thru thick and thin. Time to return the favor.

I wanted to repost my statement from the QL forums - it pretty much covers one of the biggest issues with this game so far:

Long story short: We don't pay for the game to spend our time catching cheaters and having pub games wasted by cheating individuals.
The burden of providing a cheater-free experience lies on the shoulders of the provider of these game services, namely id Software.
We, as paying players, can at the very least expect some information about anticheat measures - whether they're planned, implemented, working or not working.
This information hasn't materialized. This is not good.
This lack of action or no information about it causes problems within the community a significant part of which is, as you know, your customers. Not all gamers are kids with allowance, some people want to be treated in a mature way that befits their age, status and their position as paying customers who support the product provided by id Software.

I will only add that non-paying players leave in droves after first 1-2 matches where they're squashed by a botting player. Oldschools leave too, because its not fun to get skill flickrails from a noob who can't even move or position himself but has an aim of a Hellfire missile. And worst thing is, these dudes return, like cancer, like bad itch, like odor from a septic tank.

THIS IS WHAT NOW: GIVE US PROPER ANTICHEAT PROTECTION.

CSGO? nope their VAC fails and they still have to use community reports
COD? nope, uses community reports at most
BF4? nope, uses community reports (even have built-in option)
report on blatant cheaters results in ban in 24hrs usually
report on not so obvious cheater can not result in ban at all (especially on expirienced WHs)

so I personally do not see how QL is any different in that regard compared to any other modern shooter.

And cheaters problem is overrated anyways. Yes theyr are bit annoying on pub FFA sometimes, but once you see it you can just quit or voteckick if possible. Not big deal imho.
In CA or duels those are virtually nonexistent, at least i did not notice any in those game modes so far.

but i know that 50% or more of the todays playerbase wont sign up, so there is no sense to sign up for me either because there wont be anyone to play against.
and in the classic mode wont be any "new players" which id so desperately wants to attract, why would they sign up?
when i came back to QL in 2011 or so i fuckin wondered why modes like TDM and CTF are dead, only tons of CA, duel and a bit ffa.
