Same here. Rest of changes are either good, not that bad, or meh, but having loadouts in FFA was the worst idea ever.

The big question would be why does nobody join your Classic server. Is it because it's unranked? Is it that they prefer the new ruleset?

I don't know, I put in the server name something like 'CLASSIC FFA - NO LOADOUTS' and was on the server for 30 mins with a total of 2 people joining. Most of the other FFA server's were all full, I've tried joining a few of them that have the spanner icon but still people keep the loadouts???

classic isn't classic in FFA.
They added hmg, changed weapon/ armor spawns ect ect...

I can't get over that duel is 'classic' mode, resulting in another division of the community. I thought we tried to make a big deal about making sure everything was simple and not overly complicated. Now when you go play duel there's massive gameplay changes? Kind of the opposite of what everyone would of wanted, no?

it's stupid that there's 'classic' gameplay, but you have to spawn a server. I hate spawned servers because the modified ones are usually headshot/vampire damage or some weird shit.

So after spawning another server for around 2 hours, probably had about 3 good games on it with about 8 people (set it to 10 max)

Only just realised that some of the item spawns on the map have changed and the HMG features on alot of them. Although I really don't care, the main problem is getting people to join! Atleast the people joining were doing so because of the loadout thing mainly, from the people I spoke to.

It does make me want to maybe create a sort of FFA pickup irc channel??? Classic mode, 8-10 players, pick a suitable map pool and have a bot randomly pick a map. Once I started thinking about that I then wanted to have an FFA pickup chan, but with multiple games like quakeworld, quake 2 and whatever else.... a general FFA hub.

I kinda don't understand why they didn't just re-up the dmg on the MG (for certain modes at least). Or tweak the CG. From what I've read about the HMG, it sounds like a spray and pray weapon for the cod/bf crowd.

Well I feel a bit of a twat now for my original comments concerning the update on various threads! Although I still stick by what I said about not changing the competitive side of the game as duel hasn't changed and in tdm and ctf people tend to play pickups or clan games.

My time in QL at the moment is spent 90% in FFA, 10% odd duel or tdm pickup. I'd not really thought about the implications at the time to FFA. Sadly the loudouts are just too much, removing any skill from the game on busy servers when getting spammed by 10 newbs with whatever weapon they start with. I don't know how including loadouts was meant to improve the experience for new players either when you die even quicker now. The rest of the changes are fine, but unfortunately the loudouts are a game changer!

And as I've stated above I have tried to create my own classic FFA servers but it takes that long to get it populated and then only getting a few games, it's really not worth the time. This was one of the big plus points to QL, being able to find players or games at pretty much any time. And there are full FFA servers but 99% loudout servers.... I may try the FFA pickup idea.

Well I'm going to sort out my CPM cfg today and get back into that, also sort out my doom and qw/q1 folders. If anyones interested in some games that would be great, especially if we could get some co-op doom or quake going!

As for QL I'll see what happens, my current account subs run out on the 3rd October 2014 so If FFA is still shit then I'll probably not bother re-subbing which actually saddens me as I do love quakelive but it's not worth paying for something I may not use.

It's not so bad, just different. Health/Armour are probably more important than Quad on a busy server. It's definitely more noob friendly and more poker like.

well only thing that happens on ffa right now is people firing at eachother their loadout weapon in hope for a frag, and then they just die after 2 kills or so, easily 70% of map and gameplay features are literally not used at all; I enjoyed playing some ffa in a downtime, but this is just horrible, it literally looks like CSGO deathmatch

i master-trolled (lolffa) in q3... with QLLOLFFA it was even easier.... I didn't have brain for duel so i faggetted in QLLOLCA but the bottom line remains this... ffa = lol :P
