These switches have an actuation point that occurs 1.5 mm into the key press, while Cherry MX switches actuate at 2 mm. Logitech claims that this makes the keyboard register your key presses 25 percent faster.
I just hope they reduced the total travel time to 3.5mm else we're travelling an extra 0.5mm if we bottom out the keys over traditional Cherry switches (2.5mm vs 2mm), that's an increase to 5mm after actuation over 4mm (down to bottoming out and up to resetting... depending on switch color) of nothing except what makes the keys feel nice to type long sentences on. Double tapping and directional changes (the latter without null-cancelling movement script) are IN THEORY more difficult. For games like League of Legends or World of Warcraft the change is positive (although Chicklet Switches might still be faster), this potential issue is mainly for FPS games where mechanics are not only based on how quick you fire or activate an ability, but how quick you can change direction or dodge (obviously we're talking almost irrelevant amounts), unless you use the keyboard to shoot too.
A similar story with the Razer switches that made them a little quicker to actuate but a little longer to reset.
Yeah the price is pretty damn crazy. There is only one fact that makes that not a major issue, it is mechanical and it will likely last at least 10 years. But that is still insane.
