Ubershitty build quality. Mine, at first, had double-triple-put in random number clicks and squeaking buttons, then the whole mouse literally died after ~3 months. 3 of my acquaintances lived through the same issue. That's 4 dead mice only in the exact vicinity of mine.

Sensor, while being quite good, can have some tracking issues due to the poorly soldered ICs inside. It's NOWHERE near the good old Avago ADNS-A2020, which is the heart of the MX300.

Even the size and distribution of feet is worse than its predecessors'.


tl;dr: Buying a G100s instead of the ultrarare FUCKING LEGEND MX300 is just plain stupid.

the g100s has alot more teflon on the bottom of it and bigger feet wich is a good thing, and also costs more to produce wich indicates they werent skimpin on quality - like they were doin on the mx300 when compared to its older versions of the mouse, the first mouse+ (which had alot more surface area teflon underneath, like all top quality mice back in those days in the generation prior). At least compared to the feet on the mx300, theyre tiny, dig into all surfaces and create more friction.

You can buy different quality glides, which is a given. Hyperglide, SlickSurf etc.

is there a guide/source for this? i keep hearin conflicting info. but most seem to say smaller the feet the more friction and from my experience comparin (unscientifically) a few different mice (mx300 vs m$ mice wit standard size, and with smaller replacements) i see the same

I will take a wild guess here: On small feet the weight of the mouse is sitting on a smaller surface area and hence sink in a bit on a soft pad, making static friction higher. But I think once it's actually moving, it might be faster because less surface area. For bigger feet, I'd say the effects are the opposite: Less static friction, more friction when moving.

I'd say as long as your mouse is not super heavy or someone is palming a mouse, having the weight of his hand push down on the mouse, feet size doesn't matter that much.

Btw, some people would get a boner seeing the aurora internals in a mx300 shape. Reminds me of those LED mods back in the days. (aka removing the red led with a blue one) I'm still on it. Waiting for another genuine G1 from china right now. If it doesn't work out, 2 fake G1's are on their way as well. Unfortunately those won't have a transparent bottom shell, like the genuine mx300/G1. Reporting back in 4-8 weeks.

i cant for the life of me from pics alone see any kinda real significant difference between the aurora and my mx300. if anythin the auroras buttons wud allow u to more easily claw it, wich id prefer regardless of the grip i'd use. Plus it looks thinner (duno measurements)

There are people who can't even tell the difference between a G1 and G100s, so yea. But the buttons are a good example. I somehow had to relearn holding this whole thing. Coming from a mx300/G1 shape, i usualy tend to hold my index finger sligthly more to the mousewheel. I adapted to this very quick i have to admit. While the shape looks like its pretty much there, the mx300 still feels different in my hand. Like more rounded and more space for my fingers. Especially my thumb feels more comfortable as im touching the sidebuttons on the aurora.
Another thing worth to mention, on an amibdextrous mouse theres always a specific spot where i tend hold the mouse. I can't force myself to change this grip. Its just where i think it feels comfortable. This makes me hold the aurora more to the butt, so the sensor is slightly more to the front, as it would be ideal for my arc movement.

Sure. But it has a different threshold compared to the prediction found in the G1. It worked very well for my sensitivity back then.

Prediction is way to underrated ;P But lets get this right, its about the right amount of it. The prediction found on the G9 or the G3 for example was just about right. Hardly noticable, but it was there. The prediciton on the G9x, with anlge snapping ON, was already to strong. Didn't feel right.
The prediction on the Deathadder (3G) was hardly noticable for me, and didn't feel right on my sensitivity. I think i tried every DC. firmware. Unexpected as the salmosa (3G) had one of the strongest prediction amount i have seen in a mouse, right after the logitech G1. /Still waiting for povohats Ql accel driver update with anglesnapping feature.

True i have to admit that. Its just that G9x driver option uses the term "Angle Snapping" Same with QL accel filter. (testing the new version right now. So far its awesome)

Does the MX500 have angle snapping too? I picked one up the other week and it feels amazing. I would have never guessed the sensor was anything but flawless. It's a bit heavy for my QL mouse style, but I'm definitely putting it to good use.

To be honest, MX500 is still the best right-handed mouse considering raw sensor-feel (especially on 500 Hz) and build quality. That shit have been built to last long.

Tbh. nothing wrong with g100s. Yes one button makes a littly scratching noise when you hit the bottom in the rear, but nothing very intereppting. Sensor is absolutely fine with mine, no skipping no nothing, very good. Shape and weight perfekt, wouldnt take out the weight.

for the haters: Just time the goddamn armos and look for good position, then youll hit, mouse is not everything

the g100s' max speed is rather high, its depending on dpi yet atleast 1.5m/s+. that's higher than the original wmo for example, 'easy' is something else in my opinion.

To make it more clear what this built quality can do for you. Take 2 G100s side by side, play a game which is very aim heavy (eg. ql ffa), and then switch to the other G100s while playing.. They won't feel exactly the same by cursor movement. Its almost like, getting used to this mouse (if thats even possible), it breaks, you buy another one, and then have to get used to the wrong /maybe even this time right (lol) sensor position.
But yea, that being said, you low sensitivity players get used to things like that more quick, anyway. So just go for it.

lol with all that mx300 talk and shit i just felt the urge to give my old mx300 a last chance.

what was wrong with my little baby?
- loose cable connection
- mouse1 omron switch dead
- shell buttons worn out
- dirty as hell

what did i do?
- dismount all shell parts incl. mousewheel and clean it
- take shell buttons from shitty G3 and replace it
- desolder the last two omron switches i had left working (one from G3, one from mx300 mousewheel-switch)
- solder omrons
- take G3 cable
- remove extra weight from mx300

i was sure i will fail right from the beginning, but as we say in germany: even a blind hen sometimes finds a grain of corn!

... does anyone wanna buy it?

Zowie are the only mice I've had trouble desoldering switches from for some reason. There is something wrong somewhere..

then dont try to desolder wmo switches .. pain in the ass!

i guess they have mixed the solder of one of the pins with some epoxi stuff.
it's really hard to get the switches out.

I own a mx300 a g1 and a g100s and i use a Aurora...

Personally i prefer the Aurora... just feels like what the mx300 should have eventually evolved into.

But as well known the Aurora has some quality control issues... if you get a good one.. its pretty much the best mouse i have used since i started fps gaming back in early Quake2....

if you get a good build aurora it'll be a much nicer mouse to have than either the g100s or mx300.

Hm, now that I have my Aurora this feels very much like the MX300. Still a different mouse but close.

Until it committed suicide after just 7 days use, my aurora was the best mouse I had ever used.

My aurora arrived yesterday. Mine had the uneven M1 & M2 and to make matters worse, my M1 had excess gluing on the bottom which hindered the recovery after each click. I opened up the mouse and cleaned the gluing by taking the mouse click strips off. I then fix the uneven buttons by bending the mouse strips (took me several attempts through trial and error) and reconstructing the mouse. The mouse feels great now and clicks are super responsive. The sides are flat like the wmo compared to the mx300 which, to me anyway, feels slightly rounded.

The manufactering could have been a lot better but it was all corrected in less than half an hour so I'm not bothered. I am new to ESR and have not followed the mouse as closely as some of you saltier dogs so I have no attachments through the deadlines, preorders, refunds, etc, so overall I'm extremely satisfied.

Best of luck to those who are still waiting for theirs.

Avoid Aurora. You don't get any answer on support tickets (Atleast I didn't) and evidently actually getting one in your hands is hard.

I preordered and still is waiting on mine. On top of having massdrop butting in ahead of me the mouse actually never got delivered and I can't get any answer on mail, website, reddit or here.

Go with something that you'll end up getting atleast.
