Afaik Razer Synapse lets you choose your polling rate. Just use 500Hz and it's ok. I had the same issue with former DA2013 - neg accel on 1000Hz. I had the latest firmware. And yes, Synapse updates firmware too if new comes up (at least it did on my DA2013)

is there a way to see the version of your firmware through synapse ? Or any other method ?

I find it funny, that with all these "mouse-experts" in here and oc.net, noone besides me have even mentioned how the mouse is basically broken when it comes to polling rate.
all it takes to see this is move the mouse consistently and observe the readings. it dips like every 1-1.5 seconds. not even 125hz is stable.
sure it would be nice if this was fixable via firmware update but i am not exactly holding my breath that anything will be done about it. especially when noone realises the mouse has this problem.

Since my DA2013 broke after a few months of using I stay away from their products. It's not only me who claims about how fragile Razer products are. I'm actually testing CM Storm Alcor (purchased it at the beginning of December 2014). The mouse has better "feeling" in hand (personal preference ofcourse) and the sensor is one of the best out there (Avago 3090). I haven't encountered any problems at all yet. CM Storm Alcor is 2-2,5x cheaper than DA2013

I have updated/installed the v1.01.03 firmware, but I still have a super low malfunction speed. Installed the firmware, re-connected the mouse, re-booted the pc, still nothing. I know this shouldn't have any effect on a mouse with updated firmware, but I couldn't really think of anything else to try :S

Is there another procedure that needs to be done to update the firmware of this mouse?

with my old goliathus mouse pad i had the problem with low malfunction speed then i changed it to the cheap gembird gaming mouse pad and abyssus goes insane.

Please try the mouse on another mouse pad or on a plain white paper surface.

Clean the sensor lens with a Q-tip and some alcohol, let it dry for 5mins and try again. Please use Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol 99% for this purpose. You do not want to use Rubbing alcohol that contains ethanol. Isopropyl Alcohol 99% or 100% pure is commonly found in most all drug stores and medicine cabinets. Further cleaning can be obtained by using some "air in a can" or "canned air" to blow out any dust on and around the sensor assembly.

When I bought my Abyssus 2014 I updated the Synapse software completely before plugging in the mouse. No updates currently available. After updating the software, I plugged in the mouse and immediately got an update that was definitely a firmware update. I then uninstalled Synapse because 1800 CPI + 500Hz polling is pretty much perfect and I prefer the shape of the new Abyssus over the old one.

how's the build quality and weight?

build quality : old aby < new aby 14. Aby 14 doesn't get the best build quality ever (especially compared to zowie's mice), but it's still good imo. The mouse doesn't suffer from very cheap materials. It's more than decent.

weight : old aby > new aby 14. Old aby is about ~72g while new is more like ~80g. However you can remove the weight inside the new aby and get something close to old aby's weight. But afaik, if you do remove the weight inside the mouse you have to buy extra mouse's feet because the originals become unusable after the weight removal.

I pretty much agree with Heartless except the weight thing doesn't bother me at all. It's still a really light mouse. Also, the mouse feet on the new Abyssus are a lot larger than the old which is really nice. The mouse feels stable no matter how I grip it which wasn't the case with the old. Overall I'm happy with it and sticking with it.

I uninstalled Synapse and installed it again, and it did the whole 'Update' thing and switched off my mouse and back on again. It seems like when you uninstall the driver then the firmware gets removed as well? I don't know but its possible isn't it?

Then it's not firmware, just driver. :P

i have synapse installed and the mouse works perfectly at 1800dpi 1000hz, i made a thread quite recently to tell abyssus owners to update synapse ( http://esreality.com/post/2820740/good-to-kno...14-owners/ ).

i had tracking issues with 1000hz usb polling rate as well as some kind of neg accel. But now that i installed synapse and updated it, everything works perfectly at 1000hz.

before that was using 1800dpi 500hz plug&play.

I got this mouse today -- I appreciate this post.
When I left the store, I remembered some negative stuff I read about the mouse months before... So, I was worried...

anyway, installed synapse, set my settings up and i love it. it's so much better than the older version.
I use the Golithus control pad, but it works quite alright with the Roccat Taito.

yes the razer abyssus both old and new version is a very solid mouse. It works flawlessly imho, the tracking is good, the shape is good (for me at least), the materials used to build the mouse are more than decent, it's light, it's easy to set up, it's a very simple mouse that works wonderfully well :D

some months ago i was tempted to buy the zowie ZA11or13 , out of curiosity, and to see if the 3310 sensor is really that good. But after some thinking, i just realized that it's not worth it, i feel more than comfortable with my current abyssus 2014 so why change again ? I found the perfect mouse, for me at least :)

I agree tho that a lot of razer's products are shit, marketing bullshit, leds everywhere, wireless mice that cost 999$ , mmo mice with so weird shapes and 35252626 useless buttons, etc...

but really if i had to pick a razer product that would be without hesitation abyssus, deathadder and razer black widow mechanical keyboard.

and imho, except maybe for zowie, most well known gaming gears companies have, just like razer, many crap products, with lazer sensors, keyboards with 135535151153 macro keys, useless 256Billions leds and so on... So you can't really blame razer, it's how marketing work, they have to sell their products and make profits.
