I'm sure you know 500 Hz = 2 milliseconds and 1000 Hz = 1 ms. A difference of 0.001 seconds is negligible. In 1000 Hz, the CPU is processing twice the mouse data per second, but most relatively modern CPUs can easily handle it. The most important issue you gotta consider in your case is how well your sensor performs at 500 and 1000. Test it. If there's noticeably more jittering or a lower perfect control, etc., then use the other Hz value. I use 500 Hz just to be cautious.

Whatever this guy said. Difference is negligible, if mouse performs ok on higher rate go for it - I'm also pretty sure that modern mice that don't require unsigned drivers like hidusbf should be safer to use at higher hz

If your PC is shit, 500hz. Otherwise 1000
