My eyes were definitely moist during avek's retirement speech and k1llsen's retirement speech, and also with the recent passing of evol. Nothing else comes to mind tbh, definitely nothing in-game in the last few years.

I don't know the "polish CA community" really, but I had a lot of fun on some polish servers. People played CA like it was supposed to be played - careless, going for crazy shots, without +backing and playing against your own team. You could relax after tense duel/tdm or warmup properly. Imo this is the difference between anonymous, cosmopolitan "scene" and a local community where people at least recognize each other.
I've never seen non-polish pub servers like this in ql. Props to these guys!

i remember violently yelling at the screen when dahunk lost against cypher in dh final because buzz couldnt jump the t7 gap for which you dont even need to strafe. esr$ and faith in humanity lost. another more personal experience was watching avek over the shoulder when he scrolled through the avek appreciation thread at dh after announcing retirement. he saw the hundreds of a<3k messages guys, he saw them and he was moved.

For me it was the death of ClanBase. Man what I time I had over there... I wrote tons of news, articles, and I had some responsabilities that were fun (not always) to share with the admins of my game.

And just the fact of having 6 - 7 mates to play with. You spend so much time with them they become your best friends even though you live thousands of miles away from them.

ClanBase was the best league imo. Shitty 1999 website design but the most organized I've ever seen (from my point of view, perhaps it depends on the game you played over there). I was captain of my team and we had an amazing time over there. The pressure, stress, the tactics and the brain we had, the finals we played, etc.

Then life goes on and you need to spend more time on your school work, you all drift away because of life matters and you stop playing the game(s) because you changed computer for a worse one...


You can say this game sucks as many times as you want I don't care. I don't regret my 5 years (13yo - 18yo) on Urban Terror and my three years of Quake Live.
