They might be expensive but tis worth it - if they break even outside of warranty they will fix any fault for a max 40 pounds/euros via their site. But I sent my 6 year old PC360 a few months ago there with a faulty mic and they sent me a new boxed set without asking for anything. Sennheiser ftw

In my experience the Zalman mic is rubbish. Was too quiet and boosting the signal introduced noise.
I hear good things about the Modmic tho

fun headphones that are good for all kinds of music: beyerdynamic dt 770/880/990, sennheiser hd 595/598 (slightly less fun)
not so fun headphones good for music where bass isn't important and you just want to be able to pinpoint enemies no matter what: audio-technica ath-ad700/ad900

pretty generic recommendations, most people who know about headphones would probably tell you the same. if you post with more info about what you want out of them i can narrow it down to some more niche headphones maybe. if you want to do a boom mic mod i suggest the labtec lv-7330. it's uglier than the modmic but not as stupidly expensive.

Don't buy anything that calls itself a "gaming" anything.

Sennheiser HD598

Kingston HyperX Cloud Gamer. Got it for 60€ on a sale here. It's basically a Tasktar Pro 80 with a mic. Half the price and sounds very good for a closed headphone, actually it sounds better than the Sennheisers imho, but might be problematic for people with big ears.

edit: If you are ok with an addon mic too, you can have the Tasktar Pro 80 around 40€-ish on sales. For that price, it won't disappoint, and it comes with a nice case too.

as stated, stay away from "gaming" products. Audio Technica ATH-M50. or M50X. that's all you need.
