agreed. it's very wsw or even quake like. it's not bad but it ain't good either. after all these years playing ut's i still don't have an opinion on what's better, old 99 movement or the new stuff from 2k4 and 4.
both have been very exciting to play and you have to put some time into them to enjoy them and respect for what they are and how it feels.
Do you just continue rolling in the same direction regardless of look or strafe keys? I hopped around for like 10 minutes but it seemed like I had no direction control in roll.
But yeah this video makes it look very un-UT but moving around myself it doesn't seem that different from previous versions of UT4 I played. Second walljump seems less wimpy and roll is as fast as walking. Maybe theres some player accel tweaks too to make it feel more snappy. dunno though just judging based on 10 mins of play.
The problem with this movement is that the rocket launcher and other shit still shoots at 0.01mph. Also, that's still a lot of double tapping and/or crouching to go from A to B for my liking. I'd love for it to play as well as it looks though, Epic pls.
Yeah but I don't have 6 fingers :P I don't actually mind the dodge system, but combined with alternate fire and the increase in weapons available I find it difficult to map out an enjoyable layout to use.
Maybe the guy just got better at movement in the 3 weeks between these vids but the second one does look faster/less jerky.
It still doesnt look all that great to me and the slide doesnt seem nearly as powerful in an actual duel compared to running around a map alone, but its a step in the right direction (or at least in the direction that I like).
UT4 is fun to play for a couple of games here and there but I feel like something is missing to make it as enjoyable as quake or similar games.
The movement feels a bit restricted without strafe jumping, and there seems to be a lack of balance between weapons with some being over powered while some others are almost useless.
Also being used to the rockets of quake and warsow, I find the rockets of UT4 not as fun (slow and weird splash damage).
I guess I'll just stick to quake and play UT4 from time to time, just like I do with Xonotic.
I agree about the stuttery movement but oversized maps?
I tried mostly FFA and TDM and the maps weren't too big. At least it wasn't as hectic as ql with loadouts :D
Isn't it basically Q4's crouchsliding without direction control ? Looks cool and miles better than ut99 single dodge motion but it's not very original.
