I get ur pain, but they are good maps. Some of the new ones are good too, like sinister, cure (which I don’t know, but is a good map) and I even like elder.
You find it hard to find opponents on newer maps, while it is much easier for ppl who like older ones. On the other hand, I like many others miss watching dm6 pld in tourneys, the high level insane action on aero etc. … but I understand how u feel

That's very true :/ Fortunately, there are still some guys (like me :P) who play for fun and do enjoy playing new maps even if they are unpopular.

TBH, I don't really care whether map is in 125fps map pool neither I need Cypher / Cooller / .... to say that map is "good" to start playing it.

If playing Delirium / Mcsarges / Refinery / Bitterembrace / .... is fun for me then I just do it (despite many people saying: noob map / bad map / shit map / wtf map / govno karta / ...)

Luckily, there are also some highly skilled 2k+ elo players who are open-minded and like playing at least some of new maps from time to time.

It would make sense, given his uber-annoying love for disappearing off the map while in control or not, keeping control on a random yellow armor letting everything else to the enemy and trying to survive off of plasma.

Aerowalk forces him to keep moving instead of being a sitting duck for 3/4 of the game, and in doing that he brings out the best from him.

All plasma on aero, now that's leet.

ztn killed Quake.

ztn is a shitty map, just least shitty (at least in q3 times). In fact q3 had really terrible maps in its mappool. dm6 with its pillar spawn (better known as "go fuck yourself") was one of the most bizarre inventions.

Anyway, people are not so obsessed with few maps as much as they are unwilling to learn anything new. This is a standard situation in each game which does not change mappools. Unfortunately you will have to deal with it.

Just be happy spawnpoints and spawnsystem in ql fuck players over way less.

I support your cause 100%. As a relatively new player I felt that the huge familiarity most of the duelists had was was an unbridgeable advantage. With sinister and cure the playing field was levelled out again, an even playing field. Now, for the most part, technical skill and intuitive understanding mattered the most. Ofc people caught up and now there are certainly those who outplay others using their map knowledge.

But being up against others that have played a map for (I don't really know...) 10+ years? >_> Most duelist just don't like to loose, but... who does anyway :-)

ZTN is actually a really great map. It's just a shame that most people play it so ridiculously slow as fuck, that it seems boring. Like, I've fucked with some people on this map, and they beat me (what's new), but they played it like I was CZM. Hiding, slow as fuck, no insane rail shots, no clutch vert rails, nothing.

That's not how you play ZTN. I'm sorry if this is the ZTN you've experienced. If so, those niggas doing it wrong. Watch old school ZTN. Fast paced, rails everywhere, and all sorts of what the fuck moments.

Thing is, ztn is still the best map.
Cooller's lockdown, Cypher's matrix ballet, Killsen's velociraptor aggro, if-22's hide and seek... we've seen it all on ztn, because the map allows a large variety of strategies to work.
And that still stands despite top-level games becoming a little bland due to ql's shittiness.

Two mapmakers have been in charge of ql's development for 8 years and yet there's no new map with even a hint of ztn's quality - isn't that the main issue here?

If you want to make a sport analogy, the one with tennis is better. There are different types of surfaces, and some players are better than others on those different surfaces. Nadal is the n°1 on clay, Federer is the master of grass, etc. They are very performant on other surfaces (maps) but specialise in those and are the best at it.

Cypher is all around good but on aero he's even better, which means its a more favorable map for him vs any player. If he looses on bloodrun in match 1 against a ztn specialist, its more accurate to determine who's the best by picking and other map than to just play a second bloodrun. Because its an other surface that may suit more the looser of the first match. In our example it would be Cypher picking aero and winning, whereas he may have lost a second time on bloodrun, and ztn focused people would have believed the ztn-specalist guy beating cypher twice on bloodrun is better.

Each surface / map suits better or not certain types of players. Being good on bloodrun only doesn't automatically mean you're a good duelist.

And regarding your profile I'm surprised you say that, having a decent variety of maps played.

Maps are the lesser factor when considering the accumulated experience of players. It has been proven time after whenever new maps have appeared, the top players still come and rape everyone, and after a while they are just as good as they were on the other maps with the deviation of the game-play dynamic changes.

It's safe to assume that a new map will not make you play any better or worse, you just might need some time to adapt. I never stated that they do not make a difference.

Sinister and toxicity are the only maps i find interesting to play besides bloodrun. Cure is pure shit map.

But of all, ztn is always top choice for me and stop blaming me for liking it. Many years of ztn gaming didn't leave me bored or tired of it, that's how much you need to say to understand that the map is good.
