It was fixed on the EC-A series, so I'd assume it'd be fixed on these too.

Well I can feel button lag on the abyssus 2014 and that's only 6ms worse than a logitech.

Placebo.

Maybe, though, I'm bashing the clicks as hard as I can and I have the frame rate set above 144 (7ms between frames), and it feels like the abyssus is a frame late visually, but hey, maybe I'm going bonkers, though I tested it before I found out the numbers.

A better test is to record the mouse click noise and machine gun fire at locked FPS, then measure the difference between. If it's terrible (like Steelseries Kinzu V2 Pro / Zowie EC2 eVo) then you'll hear it before even looking at the sound wave response.

In my experience, the difference between Logitech mice and the Razer DeathAdder Chroma is very minimal, the 5-6ms increase over the base mouse is still okay for competitive gaming. I love the clicks on the G303 and G502, certainly lower is better, but if the shape doesn't fit I don't think there's an issue going slightly higher in favour of comfort (I previously ran 2.33 firmware on DeathAdder 3.5G bringing it down to that level). However 12-16ms increase can very easily be heard as you click and fire in game.

If the EC-A has indeed brought it down to 5-6ms increase, I could deal - the same goes for the ZA series. However the lack of software and stupid mouse wheel scrolling registration issues that I bet are still present in the ZA, will continue to make it an overly expensive product for what it actually offers. I think Zowie had this niche market on lock down for a while, but other companies are definitely stepping up their game now too - Logitech's only potential flaw is in their shapes - which is still personal preference!

I don't see why you would want software with such a basic mouse. You can set everything (even the polling) via hardware. There are no flashy lights to adjust, no macros to save...nothing you would need a software for. Or do you regularly change settings so the buttonpress+plugin combo is too much work?

i dont like zowies implementation tbh:
- high-low lod settings arent much different(and I would like higher than high personally)
- no point keeping those DPI values, i'd love to have more customization

I also tested that way, still feels kind of iffy to me, I have the same feeling with the alcor.

Basically when I switch between the abyssus and alcor it's fairly similar, when I jump on the G302 I feel more intune with my reactions even though the shape doesn't really suit me the point is, I can sense it, though could make the argument that the g302 has really light buttons, but I've got a g400 here that feels just fine too.

kana v2 had the same "terrible" button lag as IMO IME 3 and probably WMO , 10-12ms.
that's with firmware 114 it's on 276 now.

I have a Kinzu V2 Pro MSI Edition here. I like Steelseries, that mouse too... just not the increase in button latency that I felt/heard using up to date firmware (at the time?) about 5-6 months ago. Just because I review stuff on somebodies YouTube channel doesn't mean I can't give my personal (and subjective) experience on a gaming forum.

I used to run my Razer DeathAdder 3.5G on fw 2.33 (+6.3ms) as opposed to 2.45 (+13.8ms) because the difference was very noticeable. For the longest time I used fw2.45 until somebody pointed this out, I was non the wiser, until I tried it. It turns out that the Kinzu V2 Pro on that graph is (+24.1ms) running fw96, which for me was still noticeable over my 3.5G at the time too. The Zowie EC2 eVo going by that graph is +15.6ms.

I've used a DeathAdder for as long as I can remember, but for a period of 4-5 months I used a Logitech G402 (+0.4ms) because the DeathAdder 3.5G is discontinued and mine broke. I tried the Kinzu V2 Pro before the G402, but was almost immediately put off by the increase in button latency that I could hear to my shots. It probably made no impact to my gaming performance (again, I used fw2.45 on 3.5G for over a year), but standing still and firing a weapon a single time to just hear the difference was off putting. It's in my opinion that the difference going from a Razer DeathAdder 3.5G running fw2.33 to a Logitech G402 was difficult to notice in terms of button latency, but going higher than the DeathAdder 3.5G was. I now use a Razer DeathAdder Chroma day to day. I'd like to go lower just because, but I much prefer the shape and control (again, personal preference) that I have developed over the years with the DeathAdder series.

In fact, I've used a Razer DeathAdder (whatever model) for as long as I can remember. After moving from a Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 to it, I've never looked back to that mouse. I couldn't comment on button latency on the Microsoft mouse.

ok so 4.6 ms difference between the kana v2 and your razer deathadder make it terrible.
you are a high skill player I'll give you that.
just take into account that players will take what you say literally and scrap their perfectly good mice thinking that 11ms click latency is the root cause of their missed shots. (see # 39 as a vague example)

Might try this out. I've been waiting too long for a decent mouse with dual side buttons. The shape is what concerns me. It doesn't look comfortable.

You could try the kana v2, it's in between the kinzu and sensei in terms of size, still retains the same shape. Sidebuttons are awful though, and I can confirm what nvc said about smoothing and button delay is correct.

if you want my advice: give up on steelseries, unless you're willing to make your own modification like a kinzuadder or smth.

I've been uzing ZA13 for a few days, so far I personally really like it. But for people expecting WMO shape ZA13 feels nothing like it, cause the back hump is higher. I've got claw/palm grip and eventhough ZA13 is overall smaller(shorter/thinner) than for example kana it still feels about the same size due to the fact the thin but high hump touches the exactly the middle of the palm and the mouse holds in your hand really firmly. This back hump rather reminds me the back of roccat savu but with the small symmetrical shape that i prefer. Another close shape would be abyssus 2014. On another hand note that I dont have ZA12/ZA11 which have same hump but rest dimensions are larger, but anyway people expecting wmo shape will not get that from them either I guess. Zowie AM is probably closer to WMO shape-wise(the only thing that killed it were it's /___\ sides making it thin and hard to lift). ZA12/ZA11 seem to me rather a sensei/kana with bigger back. But back to ZA13 personally I really like this shape so far since I love small symmetrical mice with round backs supporting the middle of the palm like g100s/abyssus(old and 2014) and this mouse does it even better so it's a rather good alternative to them, but not WMO/sensei. The only arguable thing about ZA series shape is these front knobs on front. but I'm not yet sure whether i really like or dislike them.
As for other components like sensor/buttons/wheel/etc they all are good and I dont have any complaints on them either so far.

I got around 80g for my WMO when i just tried. Tiny bit of cord weighting it down, so 75g seems accurate.

yeh i reweighed it a few hours ago and WMO/g100s were both about 80-83g

i questioned my mate about the weight of WMO and ZA13 being the same and he said it it were the case then the WMO has a more even distribution and it felt like the zowie had more at the back/top of the mouse

Going to be getting ZA12 soon. Coming from WMO for many years and then a Kana v2 for a year or two (just broke it). Which i considered a good upgrade. Mainly because of the cord, sidebutton and larger glides. Hopefully I dont regret getting this Zowie one instead of another Kana.

So, how good is the button lag compared to other mice? Need to hop off WMO because of Windows 8.1 and this seems like the best choice just that I'm concerned about the button lag on previous Zowie mice, had EC1 and it was awful.

old zowie mice got same lag as wmo so dont worry
ZA/EC-A series got it lowered pretty significantly also

If ZA13 is not like a WMO, how about FK2? It has fixed button lag and lower hump in the back. Only thing I see is FK2 is 85g vs ZA13 is 80g

Just received Zowie EC1-A, they definitely lowered button lag compared to the EC1, the mousewheel is meh, but I don't use it that much.

5 weeks into g100s life i said fuck it, ordered a ZA13, kind of sad cause you cant get hyperglides for it, but the smaller size over the ZA12 looked worth it

g100s deal breaker was 100% sensor position.

get a sheet of ptfe (which is btw the same material) from anywhere for pocket change cut 4 bits off and put them on with i.e. double sided tape and smoothen out the edges.

g100s sensor position is weird as fuck coming from WMO, ZA13 in right in the middle of the two, sacrificing no loss of feeling comparing the two

with my Zowie Hyperglides arriving today i can confirm the skates do not fit on the ZA13, they are at least 3mm or so too big in multiple areas...

without doing too much i think you might be able to cut a small part off each corner and put them on. not sure entirely if the middle will fit but its 50/50

i really couldnt find anything about that when i googled and it wasnt in the book, i saw something on ESR weeks ago about them auto calibrating but couldnt find.

Edit: we tested on my brothers and thats the first thing he did, replug in the mouse, the DPI was massively fucked and inconsistent.

If you increase the distance between the sensor and the pad, the effective DPI will be lower. It will also take the sensor/lens out of its optimal distance which reduces image focus and probably makes it harder to track the surface in some situations.

It's not explained in the manual, but on Zowie's product page. At least in the case of EC2-A.

If you want to change the lift-off distance, please one of the following methods:

I have mine similarly, except I use tiger silver skates and I placed mine below the screws so I can swap switches whenever I want to. Works perfectly. Feels better than the regular size hyperglides (feels like it has less static friction).

i got a za13 now and - coming from a g100s - this mouse is fantastic.

you cant fit the Zowie hyperglides to ZA13 cause the mouse has smaller feet then all the other models, so the only option was to double skate rather then replace, sorry if i wasnt clear in my typing, it probably works once you change the LOD after testing it with WMO feet

it's supposed to work like that, otherwise a low LOD would not be possible (and the low LOD is one of the best things about the za13).

To those with the ZA13, do you have problems with the sidebutton placememt?

I am interested in it having really liked the shape of the Kana and Kinzu, but I have problems with the placement of sidebuttons on most mice I have used (Kana, Sensei, Lachesis, Deathadder) where they are always under the thumb I click them by accident all the time and they are distracting. I have no problems with the sidebuttons on MX518, G500, EC1 since they are not under my thumb.

I am using G100s now since no sidebuttons = no problem.

I went from a xai -> g100s -> za13, afaik the xai has the same shape as the Kana. The placement is definitely better than on the xai where I couldn't bind the sidebuttons for fear of hitting them accidently but I still would have prefered they'd done one without them :/

With my palm grip the front side button touches my finger slightly on the top but in no way can i or have ever accidentally pressed it by mistake

unless you wrest the ball of your finger tip on the button i dont see how you would press it by mistake

Iv used razer, logitech, ss and many other brands but using this mouse for just 20 hours has improved me so much and put skills into my hands, the sensor, feel, and weight is amazing. In csgo... it makes me so good, ppl call me hacks. I honestly dont know why ppl use razer or ss when this mouse makes them look like babies wrestling Brock Lesnar. i bought the ZA12, good for palm/claw.

Anyone here who switched from DA or EC shape, and gone for ZA shape ? Can you share experiences ?

Also any of there mice (ZA or EC-A) have 400 or 450 dpi setting ?
