This is how I play. Hold from the ctrl+ z/x + space from doom 2 and other old school games where ctrl was shoot. Around the HL1 days (pre cs even), I evolved to "asdf", but leaving my middle 2 fingers as strafe (just transposed from "zx" to "sd". F became primary attack, A became zoom or alt attack. Mouse buttons are still M1 +fwd M2 +back. I've tried WASD so many times - can't stand it. Maybe if I forced it on myself for like a month straight, but I'd go crazy.

Have you tried tox's config though, since it's mostly compatible with your current setup..

All what I want from his cfg are gfx settings, rail settings and lg settings. I had his cfg, but now I lost it. My disk died (lost everything). Had to buy a new one. Now I'm working on cfg I had before, but I didnt remember his rail lg and gfx settings. At his old cfg (2010) all settings are different.

Must be recent'ish. hitbeep 2, lightningstyle 4, so quake live at least.

Sensitivity is (assuming he still has is MS mouse at 400 dpi) 36cm/360. Lower than what he's had in older (2010) configs. This leads me to believe it's newer, since there was talk of him lowering his sensitivity and it fucking up his aim for awhile.

bs, in all his cfg he has 4.3 sensi with WMO since 2009 at least. Btw he is not a top beast with LG in QL regardless of what other people says about it. A good amount of CA players outaim his super slow LG action.

You should ask evil cfg if you want realy LG whore cfg btw or cypher. I think serious and h41 and other players of that caliber would agree, but do what is most comfortable for u careem :)

p0ni hits amazing LG, with 16 cm/360. Strenx hits amazing LG with 52 cm/360. Evil is about 32 cm/360, and in one of the ESR threads, it was mentioned that he has some crazy Kinzu accel on.

f0rest is a top, if not one of the most consistently top CS players with 21 cm/360. Neo is on strenx sensitivity.

Bottom line, who the fuck cares what sensitivity the great aimers use? I was simply using tox's sensitivity changes, along with what I've seen discussed about him lowering his sensitivity in late 2012 to put forth an opinion that this is his real config (edited out sensitivity).

That is all I was doing.

By the way, ask cypher if he thinks he can aim as well as evil or strenx. Prepare for rage :p

That was just an estimate based on his config and assuming he uses 400hz. So yeah, if he uses any modern mouse, it's probably 450hz, or 560hz for the kinzu set to 400. Anyways, it was just an example of the wide variety in sensitivities.

That would make sense. Again, I was just basing this on the older sensitivities I found which seemed to have put him at around 27-28 cm/360 during his early Quake Live days. These are the configs you can easily find on Ze Google.

I think some of the players are rather close, but if in doubt I'd vote for tox. After all he hit around 45% LG in Q4.

Also noctis hasn't been mentioned yet, but his aim is amazing as well.

A shame Z4muZ didn't take his Quake Live further than he did. He had beastly LG as well.

I agree. ..and presonally for me tox have the best lg aim i have ever seen. Just remember tox gold days @q4. In ql he is spamming a lot lg though thats why he have lower acc than strenx and k1llsen in games. If tox was as active as k1llsen / strenx were during QL gold days (2010-2012) then he would have been beast in ql.

I actually have tried tox's config, but I got a weird 'delay' when playing online. Practice was fine but as soon as I went on a server and played, it seemed as though rockets and rail were delayed by just a tiny bit. I could then exec my own config and the problem would be gone.

Has anyone tried this?

I kinda like rail settings even if im with rail very bad:) Q2 had delayed rail aswell. Can't get use to Q3 / ql normal settings though:) Need fast sens, hi fov and simillar Q2 settings in QL

But do you know why there is this delay? Maybe it's some sound settings, I don't know.

You are correct. I never tested it properly in QL until you mentioned it, and I noticed no difference even at extremely large values. It does cause sound loops on my system at extremely low values though. It definitely has the effect of delaying sound in QW, which is where my assumption came from.

Largely non-applicable, but I strongly recommend against large values of mixahead unless you are doing movies and are getting sound stuttering, in which case increase it but remember to change it back when actually playing.

It won't cause sounds to lag in QL (I think it will cause strobing/sound stopping completely at some high enough value though), but it will cause the entire game to lag considerably.

Out of curiosity, was it a common thread for players to invert their mouse back in the dawn of fps gaming? i notice it's only prevalent among very old players.

Flight sims might have an influence.

Duke Nukem 3D's mouselook setting was inverted by default, with the invert option making it 'normal', which is likely why I use inverted mouselook personally, as well as playing a lot of Descent 2 using the mouse.

I mean you wouldn't re-learn keyboard setup after all the time having played differently, simply it doesn't worth anything.

if you try to 're-learn' with tox's binds your brain might explode.

You don't just use someone else's config, that is quite crazy.

Instead you either look through it and see what things are different and wonder if they might be better for you, or if you are extremely curious, reset your configs to default and exec theirs, attempting to get a complete feel of their setup, and then take the things you like from it.

In regards to a movement key setup, in most cases someone wouldn't switch setups, but in rare cases it's interesting to try. I switched from asd m2 to wasd over a decade ago, and I found the process very entertaining.

Changing movement keys to something dramatically different forces you to focus on where you are going and what you are doing, and this can even make you play better if you struggle with concentration.

I learned to play with tox cfg out of curiosity. ˇ

It has certain strengths and weaknesses compared to a regular wasd setup. Overall its much better
