i'm using razer abyssus 2014 :) sensor is very good actually cause good perfect control and high malfunction speed. S3888 is a solid sensor that can be considered flawless.

in ql if you play on fov 90 and 16:9 you will see more at the sides of the screen (compared to 4:3), but the overall feeling remains the same ;) and also, no distortion in the picture when you move the mouse, or at least very few of it (compared to let's say fov 105+) :)

The recommendation of using larger fov comes only from noob guides about playing quake none of which are written by a pro. Pretty much only people who read such guides (i.e. noobs) use high fov.

There is no point in praising people for being not as bad as others, because there's nowhere to draw the line and soon you will be praising tier-ones that they learned strafe jumping. btw guys no hate on toxjq in my thread :) i actually enjoy a lot watching the toxinator in action :). He's a great player aswell and he deserves all the titles he got at lan and online events :)

tox best quake player ever. he beat cooller in duel when he didn't even play duel properly, while he was a tdm only player. then in q4 he dominated the wsvg circuit and pretty much every q4 event in duel including quakecon multi-quake championship and the final q4 event i32. av3k only beat tox once because the 1.4 patch just came along and changed the game so that lg was worse and movement was much faster making it very rocket based (I believe this was done by id to change the game with hopes to stop tox's winning streak as people were complaining about it being so predictable) and tox broke away from his 35cm/360 90 fov formula to 24cm/360 fov 110 to adapt to the game and then tox beat him at the next wsvg event and was again undefeated in the last few tournaments.

tox beat fatal1ty with a quote "its quiet in the studio" after shutting up the very biased and loud home crowd with a dominating 3 map comeback in a best of 5 and then proceeded to adapt to id's changes and can be quoted "they try make me worse" in regards to the 1.4 patch.

Now tox is arguably the best ql tdm player and knocked out the previous champion rapha in the quarter finals of the last ql duel event. tox is the most damaging, greatest quake player of all time and will dominate quakecon 2015 now that he's adapted to the changes of the QL patch.

Pretty controversal statement. At Cooller prime times when he won most of the titles in q3 and early q4 era his fov was 110. Also you can put any name here of the most sucessfull players like Toxic,Stermy etc who always used 100 or more. Not sayin low fov is bad just in fact there is no straight connection considering it and majority of top players were on higher then 90 actually. Can only remember Cypher in around 2007-2008 dominating q3 scene with fov 90.

Why does fov matter if you don't know how far his monitor or the size of it is? If I want my monitor to be closer I would have to increase the fov for it to feel natural (or same as before). If I decrease viewsize, I have to decrease the fov for it to feel the same.

No. Monitor distance/size is interchangable (to some extent) but not fov. You can't compensate lower angle of view by putting your eyes closer to the monitor. It's still the same.
You can by putting your eyes closer to the window you're looking through, but monitors don't act like these.

The feeling is different depending on the distance to monitor.
That's why fov 10 on console games is "okay".

Sure the feeling is different but it has very little to do with objective advantages/disadvantages of high fov - after getting used to.

I was surprised to be honest because the ec2a is one of the more lightweight mice. Comparable to WMO, in fact. I'm currently using ec2a and am able to control and lift with no problems. (also, I readily admit I'm a weakling with small hands)

Cooller's pov is actually pretty funny to watch on his stream. Especially when he zooms in onto an area the size of a stamp mid action, the opponent flies in and out of there for a split second and he still manages to land a rail, like being aware of all the opponents movements on the micro movement level without even seeing him for like a second or two.

Wonder if he chose that setup because it's so spectacular to watch or because he's really comfortable with it. What it surely does though is demonstrating some impressive reaction time.

I think back then fov 110 - 120 was common. People started switching to fov 90 when quality lcd started coming out
