If there isn't going to be massive support for competitive play for any of these games, then they will all die out faster than Quake Live will.
I'm a sucker for the cyberpunk theme, Deus Ex looks nice. Doom 4 CA, let's be honest, it has huge potential for popularity even though the game might be utter shit. Star Wars very popular for the kiddies, it might stick around a little bit if it will not be some complete failure. The COD kiddies have some scene, it will be around, but it's COD.
I am Microsoft Sam, I hired to spice up the FPS casting.
This will malfunction. Ow wait.... They set us up the bomb....
The competition is Zoot HaHaHaHa.
All his base are belongs to Sam.
A lot of these new arena shooters in development UT/Reflex etc. will likely face the same fate akin to QL steam release. They're all trying too hard to emulate the same old formula and wont gain any significant esports following. Team based games like counter strike, team fortress, overwatch, cod have taken over a long time ago and 1v1 isn't going to be popular anytime soon.
Overwatch has great potential to be incredible popular FPS. It's time when MOBA FPS is going to be really BIG.
Reflex/UT is projects by fans. UT looks like Epic really doesn't care about how popular game will be, it's simply new game only for fans. Reflex the same. It's simply other league, they can't made something old school but much better without people and money.

if jehar was discusted by the doom4 movement and multiplayer, then what can we expect? i really like the idea of the mapeditor, if the doom community will invade the tools, its gonna be a must buy with infinite custom content.
rest of the games are generic console cinematic 30fps games, not really interested.
what i recommend is looking at the indie scene instead of playing generic "AAA" titles. like this little cute fps http://www.gibhard.com/
yes, we have a lot of nevergonnabefinished early asccess (mostly open world zombie shit) games
yes, we have all these crap pixelated 2d sidescrollers, and 3d minecraft clones
but i still believe in the indie insdustry, and gems like gibhard. maybe i was streaming too much custom doom wads lately, and my heart got closer to this genre.
Ye, indie games are generic as fuck.
It's like the developers never played a game in their life.
Boring, shitty, gimmicky, unfinished, cheap, steamy shit.
MP
- Reflex is shaping up real nice. I play it every day now
- Diabotical still holds my hype
- Arms of Telos is insanely fun and still very early in the build phase
- Doom 4 could be good if the community can get their hands on it
- I'm keen to try out INSIGHT but I have no idea what to expect
- MIDAIR is on the way and I'm very excited for it
SP
- Strafe looking good
- Gibhard possibly looking better
I'll also be giving all the new moba shooters (overwatch, paladins, battleborn) a fair shot too and will probably end up playing one of them a fair amount with casual friends who cant strafe jump
Basically a class based fps with an ability system unique to each class (think team fortress with lesser impact of individual mechanics by shifting it on abilities similar like in LoL/Dota 2). Anyway, whenever you are referring to "a MOBA fps", remember that it means multiplayer online battle arena first person shooter. In other words, FPS with mashed potatoes vomited by a homeless lower class peasant whom I will definitely not describe as a negro.
Loved Deus ex HR but felt they screwed up on the fall would be interesting to see how it pans out
I still have love for Doom3 despite all the hate ive had an awesome time playing with my buddies from eXg,cd/bc etcetera hope Doom4 gets it all back together .
