The fuck are you doing to your cables?

Don't get the kinzu v3, heard from multiple people that it malfunctions really easy. g100s sensor position is a lot lower down than i'd personally like, and it will feel weird coming from a g400 - it did for me at least, and I used a g400 for a long time.

I'd personally recommend these(iin order of best to last):

1. Zowie fk1/fk2
2. Zowie ec2-a
3. Kana v2

Kana v2 is really great after they fixed the firmware - it was shit before. The only thing though is the lod is insanely high, but you can fix that easily with the tape trick if it's too much for you, I just got used to it and I like high lod tbh. Shape is really good, it's basically a kinzu with sidebuttons :)

I use ec2-a and i used 400 and 400s for years, just a shape difference in which zowie to buy. For me i wanted similar shape to 400 so went for EC. I have also owned a kana v2 and i tried the tape trick, but for me i didnt like the mouse at all, found the height too low and the lod too high (with tape trick i had the mouse malfunction at low speed so not an option).

The best replacement for the g400 is the g400s. I went through the exact same thing as you after my two g400 mice died, and I experienced a huge drop in performance when trying out deathadders, a kana, an abyssus, a few zowies, etc. In the end the shape of the g400s just felt right to me (been using the same one for over a year now with no issues) :D

If you're deadset on getting a replacement though, any of the new logitechs would be excellent choices. I can vouch _against_ the kinzu v3, while I'm not really noticing any accel like I did on older models, the max tracking speed is atrocious and I feel like the mouse has smoothing or something too. Plus it's gonna be very hard to adjust to such a small mouse.

The g100s is also small but for some reason you can kinda palm grip it because of the width of the back of the mouse, might be slightly easier for you to adjust to.

Not doubting how awesome they are, but gl finding one. Even a g400 is hard to track down here. :/

I wonder if it's doable to decrease the weight on the g400s since they feel heavy compared to a MX500 without weights (at least in my memory...).

MX500 has the heaviest shell from all logitech mice with the same shape, that is when they didn't increase the weight again with the g400S.
(I know because when i had mx500 and mx510, i prefered the sensor of the 500, but the lighter shell of the 510, so i swapped shells back then)

I've never laid hands on an MX500. I can't tell any real difference between the G400s, G400 and MX518 weight-wise though. Never really thought the weight was too much of a problem either, I guess it's the type of thing you don't realise is an issue until you switch to something better.

Well, finding a G402 is easy, that's probably why. I can't get on with the shape of it either, no idea why they changed from the mx500/518/g400/g400s shell.

Great mouse other than that tho.

I used a kinzuv3 at quakecon and maybe a week or two leading up to it, can confirm that the malfunction speed is kind of a joke. The buttons feel really loose inside and it feels pretty bad.


been on the g100s for a few weeks now and no complaints thus far, sensor feels like it has a touch of accel but I dont mind it.

Exactly what you're in with the g100s, unless you're lucky.

If you buy it, don't do the weight removal operation until at least a couple months have passed, that way you'll be a little more sure if you can risk voiding the warranty.

Just bought kana v2, i like the shape and LOD is not high at all, works good on my qck heavy. Side buttons are weird as fuck tho, good thing i dont use them for weapon switching.

Should i use the software for this mouse? g400 was way better without software for some reason.

The LOD is high, but I doubt you'd notice too much unless you come from a low LOD mouse like a Zowie or wmo. I was going to suggest that it might not be tracking well on the surface, but unless your QCK Heavy is super old then that wouldn't be the case, and I don't know if that would change LOD much anyway.

The mouse functions best on the newest firmware. I think you need the SS software to update it. Thankfully it's easy to stop it running at boot, unlike Synapse. I believe the default might even be to not run at startup.

ah man, happy to hear you're happy with it :) i've hit some crazy shit on that mouse. I personally prefer it without the software, but I know some other guys with strong aim who use it with the software, so experiment with it. I think you'll be even happier with it after a couple of weeks of adjustment. I think a lot of people gave up on this mouse initially because of the shit firmware it shipped out with, but it really is a cracking mouse. No more cable rofllotto Kappa

I just plugged and played today, my aim was almost the same as usually on g400, i think i have much more control now with lg but i keep missing the long range rails for some reason, but i get used to new mice very quickly.
I installed the software and updated the firmware, can't say i noticed much of a difference.
Overall great mouse, would be perfect if it didnt have side buttons. 4Head

I was so impressed with my kana v2 for about a week, then I realised why I was hitting nice lg but missing rails at range. The LOD.... so I swung it round uber fast by its cable, straight into nearest wall. Went back to g400s and realised it was smoothed to fuck compared to 400. Bought a zowie ec2a and didn't look back.

could have just used "tape-trick" and LOD wouldn't be such problem with the kana v2.

I tried tape trick, mouse didn't track as nice imo, also I hit malfunction speed.

sounds like you didn't apply it correctly then, like also partly covering the area underneath the small lens.
i hope you didn't try the method with covering the whole hole with more or less transparent "scotch-tape".

I used black tape and didn't obscure the lens at all, tried a few times and never got the mouse to feel as good as a zowie sensor ((

ASUS Sica or EVGA Torq X5. Shape feels same but with much better sensor and materials.

I heard from many people who have sica and gladius that mouse feet are fucked up and it destroyed their cloth mousepads.

Anyway, 3310 cost more than teflon feet.

G100s is garabage, considering build quality and durability. An utter piece of it. Biggest disappointment with mice in my life - Logitech is not the same as it was 10 years ago.

If you can't get an MX300, buy a Ninox Aurora / Razer Salmosa from the interwebz - if you are looking for lightweight awesomeness.

Pretty good. I'll buy new teflon feet sometime. And a pad. 5 years old super worn down Goliathus is not cool. Sadly, the 10 years old Allsop XL is not much better either.

And best? MX300 eats it raw, anyday - while lasting average 7-10 years before a cable switch needed. Oops.


Not salty. It's just a cheap joke. Anyways, Ninox Aurora is much-much better. Almost the same shape, same weight as G100s with the weight removed and sensor is light years above the Logitech. Very snappy and responsive.

Not to mention it was free, muhaha. : P

sensor is S3998, which most would argue is better than the 3310.

anyone here that switched from g100s to Torq X5 and can tell his/her impressions?

torq is bigger / harder to grip, lift / heavier
sensor is alright

(to me the shape/weight is 90% of a mouse and you can't objectively compare sensors if they aren't in the same body)

I don't recommend the G100s at this point. I bought one recently and it was super shoddy.

I was wondering, isn't it possible to replace the G400 cable with a G5/500 braided cable? They look the same to me. Perhaps it will work with small alterations? Compare pics:
