I had no time to install steam version yet but from what I read it seems that the game environment is simplified. I think it is a moment in QL lifetime when community shall takeover responsibility of keeping game in good shape.
We did it already in the past by providing solutions like QLRanks, Extra QL, userscripts, config/HUD editors. Now when all stats and whole web interface are gone most of the stuff won't work.
However it doesn't mean it's not possible to restore the same level of experience. If we organize we can make connected cloud of dedicated servers and implement stats collecting utility. When it's done and we can some solve variable in-game nick issue we will be able to track stats for every player and bring QLRanks back.
After that it's just one step to introduce matchmaking system on our own.
I opened the topic to open the discussion and gather ideas that I'm sure most of the QL related tools developers have. I want this thread to help us gather and cooperate to make QL better and live game we all love.
