I don't think you can change the spectator hud.

I heard a rumor that's possible now, but I haven't tested myself and it might not be sv_pure.

Is that second screenshot when you spectate as a spectator or as a team member when you died?

That's very intentional obviously, it's for the same reasons you've never been allowed to spectate the enemy when dead in CA.
you are assigned to a team at that point, they want to avoid any cheating by revealing the health or location of the remaining opponents.

The only real flaw with that hud at the moment, is it's missing the name of the player who's body you're in, that should be on the HUD somewhere, it's an issue that's been reported for a while and will hopefully be fixed.

I'd like it to keep the health bars for your own team at that point too myself.

i just put followplayerex in for anyteamgame small at the bottom so i know whom im following but it displays my own name as well. they need showifspec or something similar

also one annoyance left is align values don't work for player obituaries. i would like to put them on the right

oh, and voice chat icons overlap weaponbar when on the right, they should be placed opposite weaponbar.

so easy to fix that ....dunno why they cant make it like that in ca or ftag

1. add a cvar ( cg_matchmode 0/1 )

cg_matchmode 0 ( you can spec your teammate/enemy when you died or frozen ) = public server, default settings

cg_matchmode 1 ( you cant spec your teammate/enemy when you died or frozen ) = clanwar , tournament settings as default.

The frozen thing is sadly way more complicated than that which is why they never added the ability to spec others when frozen.
It comes down to a choice between being able to kick frozen players around the game at all, or spec other players when you're frozen.

By "kicking around" he means player phsyics. The model has to be considered "alive" by the engine to retain its physics (people can shoot the corpse, etc.) but a player which is alive cannot spectate others.

kicking about as in they move when you shoot them so you can herd them up, or split them apart (more sensible ofc. for the game)

Question: while spectating someone now can you hear things further away than the actual player you are spectating? seems to me that sometime you can hear an item pickup that you shouldnt be able to normally hear.... is that so?

It is, they call it spec bug, and a fix is being waited for.
