The teams with US players are guaranteed AT LEAST 1 prize slot before the tourney even begins. So yes... they are guaranteed to cash if that is what you are asking. Stand on chance on winning the event? Anything can happen on LAN, but the teams with US players will most likely not take 1st place without a few miracles.

After watching the 4on4 and duel games yesterday I don't think the results are going to be as clear cut as people first expected!

Top8 predictions before the tourney begins (semi-ordered predictions):
1 RAG ($12,000)
2 RUNE ($7,000)
3 AERO ($3,000)
4 Bogo/BD ($1000)
5 BTT ($500)
6 PANW ($500)
7 MAGA ($500)
8 WT ($500)

BTT will probably face Bogo/BD and that game with determine 4th place and seeds 1-3 are nearly locked in based on how often the Europeans play quake tdm in general (which is significantly more than the American teams in this tournament).

Wildcard games will be PANW vs MAGA fighting for the same prize but a better standings finish.

2 more decider games can possibly change things... Round 2 WB: BTTvsPANW and AEROvsBOGO/BD.

Just predictions :) what do you guys think?

I would have agreed with that if GT/MUR were playing as a team. Dev cannot fill Mur's shoes in my opinion. gt and Mur have much more experience together and Mur couldn't make it.

BTT can also lose to PANW round 2 - very possible, but Dirtbox sucks. Dev is better than Dirtbox and gt is better than Venom (speaking in 1v1)

Another potential upset can be DARKN coming out of left field with a shocking upset to the loser of PANW/BTT.

I watched the seeding tournaments (which after hosting 3 seed tournaments... they completely threw out all results lol). Probably because they were like... hmm Serp/T4 can't be seed 3.... lets seed f**k them to seed 9 lol. They were 2nd place in the 3rd 2v2 event and were winning in all 3 games they played against a makeshift-ed AERO for like half the game. before losing all 3 games in the finals.

Little drama there for ya - when people like ZeRo4 and cha0ticz (I'm guessing cha0ticz because he also got a miracle group stage in the quakelive event) complain about seeds, teams that actually earned it (http://challonge.com/TrueDamage3) get f**ked in the end. And, since they have had great success (from a different game) - their childish whines start to sound logical... and admins make changes because they feel guilty. However, a side note to that - games were mostly played on high ping servers for both teams across the ocean... and many players were subbing in and out.

By the way... I'm just guessing that is what happened :) It could have been very different. I'm still in "prediction mode." Other circumstances like... BD just getting away from his honeymoon and Aeronauts not competing in all seed events (as well as some other teams that didn't get "a fair seed") may have contributed to a last few days brand new seeding.

ZeRo4 and cha0ticz were power ranked in this tournament at seed 8 and will not make top 8 because seed 9 and 6 will eliminate them quite handily.

Poor DRKN got seed f**ked from 5 all the way down to 10. I believe this will contribute to their demise.

That is the end of my rant - sorry - I'm pretty bored waiting for the event to start eating my Cheerios.

That moment on aero where locktar got surprised and fell in lava...I think they were 1-1 at that point...damn!!!!

QuakeWorld ! \o/ am really happy for the qw scene, they do deserve a huge tournament like this one :)

Also in an another note, i hope idsoftware will make a Quake 2 tournament next year for the Quake 2 's 20th anniversary, the q2 scene deserves some love too ! :( ( make it Duel plz cause i doubt there will be teams attending )

I understand wanting to do something oldschool instead of the kawaii icons and the solid colour brightskins everybody uses nowadays. I understand not wanting to use texture packs or more modern gl effects. That's ok.

What's going on is not ok:
As if quakeworld didn't suffer enough from this low bitrate stream, the puke brown everything, 1996 skin colours, insanely washed out config and horrid hud are a fucking disgrace.

my experience from far far away, you cant fix all problems in 1 quakecon. you need years :) even a functional live stream is a little wonder.

the game is lowres on stream, the casters are highdef.

yes the config is horrible .

But not only that but the image is SKEWING horribly, getting seasick .

Did they not ask for help setting it up properly ?

Road to quakecon jehar managed even to have 4:3 stretched to 16:9 .

its like ... please, do your job , you actually get payed , not like SuddendeathTV performance, whom did not get payed, still had a perfect stream from 6 pm to 8 am , alone !

About the "skewing" - it is most likely cfg-related.. Probably the cl_rollangle being in default value which tilts the screen when strafing :)

The intensity of qw is amazing at times. I love the op weapons! And quad! So cool.

I liked the bigger maps, like ztn and the other big one.
On the other maps, dm4 and aerowalk, it looks ... random (to me).

Was such a great evening to spent with top-qw. Fierce, non-stop battles, cool calm dudes having fun at the interviews after the games, relaxed Ddk and Jehar being themself and not trying to cast the shit of every boomstick ammo being picked up, maaan, I feel envious in a good way.

Is fisheye fov type used?

you can easily see they did not used fishey fov. Sadly but fisheye looks awesome i think its future of fast FPS.

ddk's knowledge of the game is quite impressive and gives a lot to the coverage. Very good choice.

dunno why they use such config/mod, i guess they want to use textures/mods they have full rights on it?! Looks kinda garbage to be honest :S

btw the amount of action is just fucking awesome +ddk is casting so good QW. A pleasure to watch.

some amazing games there! There was some 4v4 towards the end of the stream too which was great to watch as well.

What's the current heirarchy with duel in qw. I know Milton was dominant for quite a long time, has Rikoll taken over or are there a few people at the top.

Rikoll has won basically every duel tournament the last years, with the exception of Duelmania Worldwide, which GT won.

Milton hasn't played in any duel tournament the last years. I think QHLAN14 in 2010 was his last, where he beat Rikoll in the final. But for sure he's able to beat the best players still.

It's hard to tell how he would fare nowdays vs other top players like gt and rikoll since he doesn't play in any duel tourneys. Not even in this once in a lifetime QuakeCon event!
