fox ownz, but this demo or any of his demos show just how overpowered rail is. I feel like i'm watchin' instagib as he just picks off everyone. I wish rail dmg was toned down. In any case he ownz the rail hard.

it's the structure of dm6 that gives you the possibility to
own your opponent like this
just take a look at dm14 that you can't control with rail-only

dm14 is a rare exception in which rail is not as dominant. For the majority tho, dm6, dm7, ospdm6, ospdm5, rail straight out owns everything.

Rail IS overpowered!

quake needs to be changed in some ways, now that fast pc's, perfectly working optical mice, better netsettings (play with maxpackets 125 on a sv_fps 30 server and you know what i mean) make aiming so easy that shaft and rail play the most important role in the game
what i would do is, take damage and drawback of shaft/mg/pg/sg down a little, and keep rail damage BUT make it harder to aim with it somehow.. something like the q2 rg delay
i know, anything that makes aiming harder is kinda lame, but it would make the game more balanced and we would get the original feel of it back

well, just a thought ;D

ps: and NO, i dont want to hear "cpm already has that all, play promode!!!!1"

and i would just remove all hit-scan weaps... Or only have like one hit-scan, similar to rail, faster rate but 50 dmg. or something... Would encourage more agressive gaming, or would it? Could make quake 3 even more campish(easier to run)

the only thing a weapon like that would encourage iss laming around with it... if you dont believe me take a look at the UT2k3 CPL finales... fatal1ty almost only uses primary shock.. which shoots about twice as fast as a railgun and packs 45 damage

hehe, but guess hit-scans shouldnt be a subject then... maybe one weap like the mg could be hit-scan, one that gives very little damage but shoots fast... Noone would snipe with that :)

different maps favour different weapons - lower the amount of rg ammo on a map and have fewer open spaces and the rail becomes less powerful.

I wouldn't say CPMA has that already as CPMA went in the other direction and strengthened the armours instead of weakening the weapons. Do you really hate CPMA that much?:)

its not the best ping, i hardly remember such nice aim by someone with lan ping.

his ping isn't bad

he had around 30 all the time, using maxpackets 125 and a quite high amount of timenudge (i think it was -16 last time i saw a demo of him where someone did /players)

nope, but he hits some rails me and you never would hit, even with ping -10

well, my greatest achievement was prolly that i beat all*nirvana on t2 in a tourney game :D (demo was never released anywhere) .. and nearly got him on pt4.. i finished 3rd at wwcl finals 2001 where the best players of germany and austria participated, apart from that, i wasnt at any bigger events.. well.. i was always around 2nd best in austria, so, pretty mediocre internationally

The rail in dm6 is another aspect of the game as your team can decide to try and control rail as well as armour.

To all those moaning about rail being overpowered everyone has an equal chance of getting the rail just some people have better aim so it takes more effect. Is the point of the game not to reward the better players and besides if its sooo overpowered as u say then when u get your hands on one u should easily be able to make up the difference.
