Dispite the fact I am not a fan of fwd vehicles I pleed that you dont trash the civic type-r becuase it is overhyped from the boyracer that think its a dragqueen. They are more for the twisties and take advantage of there lightweight relitivly well.

I don't know much about them but if you say so. Surely the Vette, EVO, WRX, RX8, and maybe even the Infiniti G35 are viable alternatives to this, while most of them are pretty cheap as well. (additionally, they have good power curves)

For truly lightweight alternatives, you might also consider an RX7 or S2000, which aren't too expensive! Although you can't get a new RX7, but then again there are some lightweight roadsters that handle pretty nicely also: Z3/Z4, Boxster, TT (heh).

I just don't see the point in a Civic Type-R, really. A Civic is supposed to be a cheap, efficient car, not a race car. It doesn't fit the personality, even if it delivers.

The civic type-r was never priced to compete with the likes of the rx7's/s2000's ect ect. Its a overhyped(well here in the US) "sporty" car. type-r's are no were near the price range of the other arguably "true" sports cars like the ones you listed.
Plus the civic's are a good bit lighter then an rx7 or s2000. both of those weigh about 2800/2700lb's were as the cheap little civic weigh like 2300 or under depending on year(i'm not sure what the newer ones weigh though but I think they are a good bit heavier..) . Getting one of these things under 2000lb's is not hard at all. I know a guy who has a daily drivin CRX he built for SCCA(sm2 class which is basicly a no holds bar class), and if I recall correctly he got his weight down to 1700lb's w/ full interior/stereo and man that car is simply put, a blast to drive!!!!

Ok, I thougt you were someone else I guess, didn't really look at your profile or avatar thing. But I assumed since we don't have the Type-R that you weren't American.
I wasn't really trying to insinuate that the RX7/S2000 were priced similarly, in fact I said they're a little expensive but not too bad (althouh the RX7 originally was obviously absurd in price).

The S2000 I believe goes for around $32,000 and I'm not sure how much these Civics run but I'd imagine around $22,000.

I have no clue about Civic Type-Rs, but I checked the newer models and it says they go about 2650 which isn't a whole lot less than an RX7/S2000 at 2850 and 27?? respectively.. don't wanna look it up right now.

I assumed something like that, but I figured we were talking about the new ones. The older model Civics actually aren't too ugly for jap cars. Every new model Honda has is butt ugly, Civic included. I think the only jap manufacturers that have decent looking cars are Toyota, Mazda, and Nissan.

That's pretty good if it's putting out 200+ horses. The only cars that are ~2,000lb on the market that I know of are the MR2 Spyder and similar, which go around 2,300lb and put out something like 135HP at the flywheel. 200HP is a pretty good ratio for a 2,000lb car, but I haven't looked up the specs for older model Civics either. ..and I don't really intend to, yeah, sure, a Civic could be pretty fast with those figures, but come on, they sound like a bumble bee, have little to no pull or torque (you can't feel it when you put your foot on the gas, you don't even realize you're going anywhere??!), and they make all their power at some insanely high RPM.. yuck.

But yeah, I can obviously see them being used for autocross style racing.

Aza, what are you talking about? A 900bhp skyline would piss over the new NSX and pretty much everything in the world.
My old Pulsar GtI-R (12.4 1/4 mile) would piss over a NSX over a standing 1/4 mile. They are decent track cars though, but they cost like over 100,000 dollars.

Im just going by what I read in a few different magazines and articles.

One stated the following words "nothing is getting up this mountain quicker than this nsx, this is truly the best of the lot, bring your 900bhp skylines bring your..."

All cars that come from Japan are limited to 276 BHP (YEAH RIGHT!) Skyline, rx-7, supra etc, it's only when you change exhaust, add a filter and crank up the boost do the true potential of these cars come through.

don't you mean were? and even in the 90s the 3000GT, Supra, etc all broke this rule. the only one that stayed around 300HP was the 300ZX. I believe the rest were all rated at 320HP.

Because a Skyline R34 makes more like 330BHP in standard form. Rip the exhaust off and throw a free flowing one on there, uprate the air filter and you have 400 bhp, then increase boost to 1.0 bar and you have 450 bhp without trying.
This applies to the others too like the Supra, and indeed the Rx-7 (wankel rotary)

Why the F40? becasue on a race track it is an animal. Some guy had one at work, and it was just scary man. Twin Turbo ferrari with 4-wd (I think). And going on a racetrack is not such a big deal.
In the UK we have car shows and clubs that allow you an all day session on a Touring car circuit for about 100 quid, only thing is you're sure to eat a set of tyres and pads (maybe discs) so it is pricey.
If you're making over 500 bhp then it's pretty hard to use that power in the everyday world without either killing yourself or someone else.

in regards to boost, I find it quite sad that it takes forced induction to make Japanese engines powerful! but I guess that was the only option they had with that limitation. now I believe Toyota is coming out with a V8 model (although I'm not sure).

you know cars in the US used to make that routinely.
the chevy 350 is a good example. 69-71 Z28s were rated at some 350HP but reportedly dynoed at 450+ or better. I'm not sure about non-US automobiles. :>

Actually, stock RX7s are pretty much dead on the power they're meant to make. For the US version, that's 255 at the flywheel and for the later Japanese versions, 265 and 280 respectively for 96-98 and 99+ cars. The most you can (reliably) tune to while keeping the sequential twins intact is about 350 at the wheels - that requires a larger intercooler, better fuelling, de-restricted exhaust system and decent mapping (ie, aftermarket ECU).

For bigger power, it's single turbos - the GT35/40's very popular at the moment, since it spools up pretty quickly and delivers decent power. Going further, if you can source a 3-rotor 20B, then you can (with major alterations) fit that in the front - increasing engine capacity from 1308 to a mighty 1962cc. That's more common in Australia than over here or in the US, but unless you're very careful you can screw up the weight balance that makes the FD so fun to drive. There's one three rotor FD in the UK. It's pink, and keeps blowing up.

As Daryl mentions further back, a large part of why RX7s so fast is the fact they don't weigh very much. A 900bhp skyline can lay down 10 second quarters, but so can a 500bhp RX7 (in fact, the RE:Worx FD did a 10.6 run last weekend). And a stock RX7 can smack down a stock Skyline on track ;)

As far as I'm aware, there aren't any front wheel drive cars in the UK running 12s. The fastest I've heard of is the CPL Racing Civic Type R (supercharged, running nitrous), and that's low 13s.

For RWD cars we're still a little behind the rest of the world here, street-legals are running 11s most of the time while most of the effort centres around AWD - there's at least one 9sec Skyline around.

Ahh then you are drastically wrong, my friend has the Uk's quickest Nova. Runs 11.3 seconds, and it is a 2.0 ltr turbo, 8 valve. He is up grading to a 16v soon so she should be in the 10's, absolutly insane seeing as the Vauhhall Nova is basically a shopping trolley.

UNDER-CAR NEONS - Some boy racers go a step further than the "neons in the boot next to the sub" approach and fit neon lights underneath the car. Boy racers have the mistaken impression that this makes their car look cool, giving it a surreal "floaty" appearance, but in reality the only purpose of this mod would be to perhaps allow mechanics to look underneath the car easier at night when it's broken down on the hard shoulder of the M4.

You show me one normally aspirated MASS MARKET american car which is making over 230 BHP and weighs less than 1300 kilos.
So although you have this big cars that are 400 BHP, they weigh a shitload more, so , well I'm sure you're smart enough to know about power to weight ratio.
Also your fuel is piss cheap so its not a problem. Thank god as you already use way more fuel per person than anywhere else.

Forced induction is not sad, it is a great, smart way to get big power. I seen a vid before with this Yank putting a chevy in a Datsun, and supercharged and turbo it, the fucking thing was front wheel drive and he could smoke the tyres at 60 mph! All that sounds impresive, but its not really practical. In the UK the car modding scene is huge and EVERYONE is going Jap. I mean you can import a subaru with 280-300 BHP into the UK for around 5k, kinda old, but it will do mid 13's as standard, and the Nissan Skyline is the most sensational car I have been in, though a mitsi evo 6 MODDED is great too.

Also, you might not app those typed of cars becasue the roads in the USA are very straight compared to the UK.
They are generally very windy, and damp in the UK, so its important to find something that is fast and safe.

Umm.. Why? There are several, actually. But not an insane amount of American cars with a huge power/weight ratio (although they have ratios just as good or better as Japanese/European manufacturers).

I never said it was sad. I said it was sad that Japanese manufacturers have such good technology yet don't make big power. I'm sure they easily could, whether or not they will now that they're allowed to make 300HP+ cars or not, I don't know. 1) You said it yourself, the UK endorses Japanese cars. What's your point, then, to say that the Jap cars trump every thing? I would imagine so!
2) You're comparing a stock Viper to a modified car. Apples and oranges. And the Viper IMHO is a terrible example. Horribly inefficient car and a pathetic example of what America has to offer. Currently the Vette is the only American sports car I would buy, beyond entry level performance cars. (well, maybe the Cadillac XLR, Lexus SC430/400/what have you)

Number one, many American cars handle just fine. Most of them aren't really made with tuned suspensions, but they do exist, and many that aren't handle just fine or similar to your average jap car. You're comparing apples to oranges.

And that is the great thing aboout the 2-litre turbs from Japan, they drive like normal everyday cars if you want to, but put your foot and they start to really fly, and I have been in S2000 (nice) and I have been in Ferrari's and Lotus Esprits V8's, and in the UK, on OUR ROADS, these Jap cars are sensational. What is more astonishing is that you can get a 10 yr old example from japan for like 5,000 dollars, and it will be fine, go, handle like hell and you don't need to get in debt for it. At one point I could have afforded the skyline, but the running costs would have killed me.

We weren't exactly talking about the performance cars. You kept bringing up Skylines which is a pretty silly comparison to anything in this thread. The original thread was in pertinence to the import sports cars being limited to 276HP. You then posted about a Skyline making insane power with 1.0 bar of boost or something. I had a remark stating the following, thereafter:

In that instance I was not talking about a Skyline, I was referring to the overall Japanese market, and thusly the thread at hand. It was a casual remark. The line that proceeded that WAS in regards to the Japanese performance line of the 90s, which insinuated that back then it was probably due to the limitation that they had to make the cars turbo. (that is to say, why not make 300HP with a turbo and let people tune them afterward?)

The point is, American cars do make a lot of horsepower, and Jap cars did not make as much as many American sports cars. I was pondering whether they would in the future, and I believe they will. It seems like the Japanese market is taking on American traditions and vice versa, funnily enough.
All I was saying is that if a Skyline were built to spec with a 300HP N/A, then it would be a true beast. You could worry about your boost after the fact. :> But I suppose they couldn't make any thing that hefty back then.

Actually, from what I can tell, things like autocross are far bigger in the US than in the UK. Most people modding their cars here run them in straight lines and that's it, there's not an awful lot of track day activity for that scene.

Hmm - I'd have thought the ferrari would kick some serious ass from about 100 up. You'd take the start and the first 1/4 or so but the pulsar's not the most aerodynamic of cars.

My Pulsar is doing about 120 MPH at the 1/4 mile mark.

A ferrari 355 is about 1.5 seconds behind at this speed. Bearing in mind the car is chewing through the gears it is only about 150 where the gears in the ferrari, bigger engine, and the fact that IT IS NOT 4WD shine through.
But then the Ferrari costs about 90,000 dollars more.

I have never been into top speed, I get real scared at 140-150. Crashing at that speed is just game over. For me I like cars that can sprint to about 130, and best of all I can dothis whatever the weather, rain or shine. I would like to own a TVR cerbera one day mind. They are pretty cheap in the UK now, and they are incredibly quick and sound stunning.

The stock time for a 355 isn't 14 seconds - most places seem to put it at around 13 dead.

I strongly think you're underestimating the affect the shape of the car has above about 100mph. I'm not denying your car's fast, but 100 up is where real supercars come into their own.

I'm tempted by TVRs, in that big power NA looks fun, but they've (still) got an appalling reputation for reliability - in a "need three engines a year" sort of way. They're also not as nicely balanced as my current car.

I said about. The stock 1/4 mile time is about 13.3, but I have seen many go up the strip and 13.6-14.00 seems to be the average. Mine does 12.3 all day long. That is over a second. Top sprinting humans can run at over 10 metres a second, yet they do not even reach a speed of 25 MPH, imagine how fast the cars are travelling and imagine the gap of 1-1.5 seconds is? A seconds is huge in 1/4 mile racing, especially when getting down the the 11's-12's. Any car can made to go fast, I have seen Road Legal minis do 9-10 second 1/4 miles and owning the Lambo's, but I know what I would prefer.

I'm not one of these idiots that says I would prefer a Ferrari over mine. Never in a million years, but just pointing out, it's fun beating ferrari's as most people who drive seem to think they can own anything, when in fact a standard S2000 would not be too far off upto a 1/4 mile.

If it's down to driver skill then that's a little different - it's an awful lot harder to launch a RWD car, whereas, as you said, in the pulsar you dump the clutch at 7k and it goes. I still think if you're confident you can match a ferrari to 160 then you haven't raced one.

The Best Motoring videos with ferraris are pretty interesting - whether it's down to lack of driver familiarity with them or something else, they tend to take a bit of a kicking vs recent evos and skylines.

Whatever, RWD are harder to lauch yes, but that has nothing to do with it. Off the mark I know I can hit 160 before a Ferrari 355 can. NOT A 360, but can beat that upto about 120. If it was a rolling start then it would be different, as 4wd loses loads of power, so you point on launching is valid, but it evens out as I'm losing loads of power when I am driving, as 4wd becomes useless and just slows you down.

Also, my point being, my pulsar including the mods cost a GREAT deal less than some some cars ppl call super cars. Not bragging jsut stating a fact. I have mates with Evo, Subaru's etc, and they are all in the same field, the Evo out hadles me on the track bigtime, but for what I want the car for it is superb and even if I had a million pounds, I would buy a skyline and tune the hell of it. Rx7 are expensive when they go wrong and they do. Nice, but a big too big and medallion man for me.

Though a mate turbo's a civic type r ecently, disabled the vtec, and it made 300 BHp, which was pretty scary in a front wheel drive and gave me something to think about when we were side by side.

Unless you've gone head to head vs a decent driver I'm still doubtful. The aerodynamics of the pulsar just aren't suited to particularly high speeds - it's a fantastic rally-style car, but I don't think it'll hit 160 before a similar power ferrari (355 is 380 at fly, which is probably about the same atw given 4wd vs rwd transmission losses?).

Price-wise, yeah, if money were no object I'm not sure what I'd have - perhaps a GT2 or a Noble. Or maybe go mad and get a 4 rotor RX7 (http://www.4rotor.com/). More likely I'd spend the money on track days for my current car instead though, most fun I've ever had in a car.

That's a bit urban myth really - they go wrong if you mod them wrong. Detonation blows a rotary very quickly indeed, so you have to tune a lot more carefully than with your pulsar. If you just bolt stuff on without addressing the fuelling, then it's no surprise it goes pop. I guess that's the reason they haven't gone the Max Power boy racer route of MR2s and pulsars (not you, but in general) - I can't say I'm too upset about that. A rotary rebuild is only 2.5k or so vs 10k for a proper job on a skyline engine, or you can do it yourself if you've got the time.

Yeah Pulsars are gettin a little boy racer'y, and to some extent I am, but only in the sense that I love cars, and going to car shows like Ten of the best Trax, and Japfest. Trax soon!

The ferrari times were taken from a test day I saw in top gear. It would be hard to imagine that they did not have a good driver at the wheel, and a lot better than me.
I had Dave Clark drive my pulsar once at Santa Pod, he got a 11.9 in it, but I don't count that as I was not driving it, and I am not comfortable doing full throttle gears changes becasue I have spent waaay to much.

I know there would not be a lot in it, the point being my car is basically a Nissan Sunny (shopping trolley) with a few mods, and that is what I like about it.

I know the Pulsar is not aerodynaic, but it's running just under 2 bar of boost. That's a hell of a lot.
For example, a Standard Evo 6 runs 0.9-1.0 bar of boost, that is basically twice as much, and I have the ball bearing turbo's and pretty much everything else. I never went down the 2.2 stroker kit route though, The gearbox is already being pushed to its max, though if you don't launch the thing too many times it is fine.

im sure most ppl know that the 355 (as nice as it is and no i wouldnt say no to one) is an entry level ferrari where the name is costing more than it should.

Which is why I said a 355, not a 360, or a F40, or maybe a 550 marenello becasue they are a lot faster, but costs the earth, also, the 355, is arguably the best Ferrari ever made, it looks like a ferrari should, and its waaay nicer than the 360.

Also, they cost over 100k new and are still fetching well over 70k the last time I checked for a second hand right hand drive. LHD is sub 50k, so they are hardly budget cars:)

l'm gonna' own one one day. In thirty years time that car will still look sexy.

I did TRAX last year, including track time, and it was fantastic. The difference between the crappy roads we have in the rest of the UK and a real racing circuit was astounding. I chickened out a bit on the main straight, backed off at 140 or so because I wasn't sure when it ended, while in front of me the rest of the rx7s headed off to 160+ before the corner. Two of them span off though, so I think I probably made the sensible choice.

ToTB's a little far for me (I'm south-east - Dover-ish) and I was busy with work over JapFest. I did JAE this year though, which was an awful lot of fun. Even Pod's a 3-3.5 hour drive for me however, which limits my visits. I've been once this year I think, but I'm not sure I'll make it again before it gets rainy.

I think I'm running 0.8 bar in my FD, no real reason to stress it at all. It's running quite a nice map, the transition between turbos is smoothed out pretty much so it's pleasant to drive. That 10.6 FD is running 30psi apparently, but it's got all sorts of cool stuff in there too (charge cooler, water injection and so on) to keep it safe. You're meant to be able to wind the boost up in evos pretty easily (one of my friends has a V) but I'd say unless you're aiming for a lot of drag or track, it's a little pointless on most roads. I don't even bother driving to work these days, I take the train and cycle from the station. It's no more fun sitting in traffic in a sports car than it is in an escort. A bike is tempting, but it's about the only thing I can think of that's more dangerous in the rain than a big power rwd car with no traction control. Maybe next year.

I don't understand the point of this sentence, but anyway: the human is capable of speeds up to 30mph I would say. if I were to cite, I'm pretty sure that the official 'limit' is said to be 28mph, but I don't feel like googling right now. .. and have you paid attention to events such as the olympics? times get better every year. people are evolving and getting faster, stronger, it's kinda scary.

FWIW: very few people can run 25mph top speed but I don't doubt it. I can run about 20-22mph myself, I think. But don't quote me on that, I'm certainly not the fastest person in the world. :>

if your looking for all out ragging, you cant beat a bike. cars are obviously better for practicality, you cant listen to music, have to get wet and dress like a poof, but for the money you would spend modding a civic or some shit you could easily afford a bike aswell as the car, my friend has an '02 yamaha R1, afaik they were just over $10'000 new? 150hp and it weighs 380 pounds, your talking 0-60mph in 3 seconds, quarter mile in 10 secs at 140mph and it will hit 180mph, and thats completely bog standard. the 2004 R1 is even better, touching 180hp i think ;>

most top end sports bikes are similiar performance too, even something like a suzuki gsx-r600, one of the best track bikes, which you can get here in the uk for under £6500, will beat most anything on the road bar a supercar or a 900hp skyline, like they come along everyday, afaik the fastest skyline in the uk, the sumo skyline, is over 1000hp, quarter mile is 10.25, a standard R1 is faster, and that skyline cost £120'000 to build ;]

Yes bikes are good, cheap and you can experience stunning speed that most cars will never reach, but it comes at a price and that price is a big % off your chances of survival.

It's fun bainting with bikes, I can give a CBR 600 something to think about. R1's are insane, and the r6 is good too.

It's not about looks, it's about passion. Even really junk bikes can slaughter all but the fastest cars in acceleration. Riding on two wheels will always be more thrilling than riding on four. Give me the sound of a desmodromic L-Twin with a nice set of Termignoni pipes over an american v8 any day. Insurance also isn't as much as you'd think either, I've heard of people with just several years experience buying a 996 and after shopping around, they get rates of about 600$ US (the guy who got this deal actually had one bogus reckless driving charge on his record).

Unfortunately these rates are driven up by the morons.that taint all Sportbike riders. Riding in shorts, tshirts and sandles, doing wheelies in traffic will get you killed. As for a lower chance at survival, that is true. That's a risk we take for the fun. That having been said if you're properly geared up and are circumspect in your street riding (which sadly, many riders in general are not), you can avoid a lot of collisions that you couldn't in a car due to the braking power and acceleration of the machines. The problem is you cagers don't see us a lot of the time or you treat us like a bicycle or another 2000 kilo suv (you have no idea how nerve wracking and annoying it is to be tailgated on a bike). A friend of mine when he was just starting out had an old guy try and pass him in his lane, almost drove him off the road. People who race bikes on the street are going to be killed, the sensible ones will keep it on the track where they don't have to worry about oil patches, gravel, pedestrians or cars.

Since all the fun is in the corners though I don't quite understand the point of buying litre bikes. They don't corner at all like the smaller ones and the power is unusable on the street. I suppose most people might be in it for the torque or the penis enlargement but why people would choose an I4 litre bike if they're in it for torque over a twin when is a mystery.

In a perfect world cars would be banned and the world would be a race track groomed and reserved for only bikes. But we all have to co-exist. So please, to all you drivers, don't paint us all with the same brush. And for the love of god don't tailgate us.

Mostly, when I'm waiting for a clear road to overtake a lorry bikers seem to think that even though they are X cars behind me, I should feel as if I should move out of the way, becasue Mr Boker thinks he's faster, so let him out first, when in fact he could go around me.

Mostly, bikers weave in and out of traffic, forgetting the fact that most 99.9 % of the time if a car is in a single lane, he should not really have to worry about some idiot overtaking him in the same lane, just becasue he has a smaller vehicle.

the problem with the biking community is that it thinks because they can usually outpace anything on the road, so it should have priority.
They really hate it for example if they come flying up behind you then tailgate, to which point I floor it for a few seconds and Mr Biker (depending on his bike) is usually left behind, nd when they do overtake they get real upset and feel a need to do some sort of hand gesture, but forget the fact they do it a million times to everyone else.

I want a bike, but know I would kill myself, so I'll never get one. I used to race motor-x, so I am not anti biker, but dodging twattish couriers in London doing 90 MPH in busy streets from the lights is just idiotic, and it's not just a minority, it appears it is a big part of biking culture.

I share your desire to not turn this into a bike vs car thread as it's pointless due to it simply being a matter a preference, however I felt had to correct a few misconceptions about bikers. I agree that many a rider is damn stupid. The first thing you're taught as a rider (or you should be taught) is not to assume anyone can see you. But that doesn't change the fact that cagers while yapping on a cellphone merge into you at times because you're not 1.5 meters wide regardless of how well positioned you are. Not until you ride do you realise just how bad at driving most people are and how they don't treat you with any respect whatsoever. You may realise it now as a driver yourself, but when you're as exposed as a biker is, it forces you to become even more cynical. There are bad apples on both sides of the equation, but cars are far more dangerous to bikes than the other way around purely because the rider is far more exposed.

I'm not saying all riders are the children of god and thus are immune from random acts of stupity, we all know this not to be the case. There are reasons for us going fast aswell. The smart thing to do when in traffic on a bike is to get away from it due to the fact that trusting cars is a grave error as I'm sure you're aware. However due to our limited visibility it is far more risky for us. I'm not in favour of splitting lanes going 80 kph or passing on the shoulder as tactics to get away from traffic, this will get you killed. But, at a stoplight, the biker in front accelerates hard to get away, or if there are three cars staggered with enough room to get past (provided cars are behind you aswell), even they are going above the speed limit, you speed up so as to get away from a potetial problem . If you pay attention, I'm sure you'll see some riders that when behind a large group of cars take the opposite tactic for the same end: go slow to stay away. Granted this group is in the minority as are people with patience in this world. The bottom line is that riders do things on the road that would only make sense to other riders, in fact in some cases they are specifically taught to do it.

As for bikers tailgating, that is the sure sign of an amateur. although a bike can stop faster than a car could hope to, rear ending one is catastrophically bad for the rider, especially if it's a larger vehicle as I'm sure you can imagine. It's shocking to me that many more do not realise this. I've heard so many stories about guys following trucks too close and leaving a their best Wile E. Coyote impression on the back of it.

I don't know where you live but the group I ride with doesn't do anything at all like that (and most riders around here don't aswell). I suppose I'm in a nice little bubble. I suppose one could take solace in the fact that the riders that cronically preform violently stupid acts shall not live long enough or shall get the shit scared out of them so bad when they do go down without gear and spend a year recovering from road rash and broken bones (if they survive the first time that is) that they will most likely not make that type of error again. Or, they'll keep doing what they're doing until darwin works his magic.

Some of the scariest moments I've had in a car have been doing 50 on a crowded motorway, middle lane with bikes flashing by between lanes both sides at about 90. Maybe I just picked a bad day for it - usually, I go well out of my way to let bikes past, no matter what car I'm driving - but I really did feel the slightest movement even staying within my lane would have someone off.

I've probably also seen at least ten bike crashes where a car just pulls out straight in front of said bike, and I've never seen a car to car crash. It's that sort of thing that's put me off getting a bike license so far - the standard of driving in the UK isn't good enough for me to feel safe on a bike, no matter how well I rode it.

I was walking around the street the other night, first two minutes out there there was some POS crotch rocket coming down the road (35mph zone) at about 60mph. I moved further away from the road cause I've seen idiots on crotch rockets lose it on a regular basis.

I'm sorry but IMO those modifcations are definitely a stylistic "No no". Especially the neon lighting ... brrrr, that's like a member pass to CHAVS-R-US.

There is so much you can do with a car like that. Strive for simplicity. Make it look like a giant shoe or something, but stop adding all those little thingies. In the end it will look like a cheap plastic Christmas tree.
