Definitely one of my favorite games of all time. Ocarina of Time was not only a magical Zelda game, but it's also an absolute masterpiece when compared with any game you could ever think of. The game offers a nice challenge, a stunningly well-told story, and the gameplay to back it all up. People will still be talking about ten years down the road.

To this day, Ocarina of Time is the finest game I've ever played across any platform or genre. When I first purchased the game, all I did day and night was play, think about, eat, breathe, and sleep Zelda. Weeks went by, and eventually it came to a point where I knew the end was fast approaching. So, instead of just heading off to the final dungeon, I purposely went back and tried to make sure I'd checked out every minigame and side quest available. I did everything I could to milk the experience, as I simply did not want it to end. Few games had ever had that sort of effect on me--and none have since.

Thats exactly how I felt and still feel whenever i reach a certain point in the game.

Well I've never had an N64, but now that I have OOT for gamecube that was bundled with Wind Waker, I guess I should finally give OOT a go. Err...once I've had my fill of doom3, that is :p

Ocarina of time is definately the best nintendogame I ever played.
It is also in the guiness book of records (for having more pre-orders ever) :), or was the last year i checked, which was about 2 years ago or so I think.

Btw, not so long ago i saw a movie of someone finishing oot in about 4-5 hours .. can't seem to find it atm.

Ocarina of Time can't hold a candle to "A Link to the Past." I still have my N64, but my sister may have my fucking games for it. (doh, I was a dumbass)
I have to fix the N64 anyway, but haven't gotten around to it since there have been other consoles to deal with.

On the topic, can any one of you give me your opinion on my post here, or just general insight into the game play of the new Zeldas?

I was mistaken, I think Majora's Mask and Wind Waker are the only two new Zelda games*.

I hear Majora's Mask is majorly gay, so I guess that does explain the reason why there have been two new Zeldas within a short timeframe. I've also seen the Collector's Edition which includes four Zelda titles for the console, as well as a new GBA title. But surely there have been no more console based Zeldas than the two new titles I've mentioned, right?
So could anyone fill me in on Majora's Mask and Wind Waker?

Zelda is a magnificent game, i loved playing it in 99, and have completed it several times since, it doesnt get boring.

My n64 was stolen in 2002 along with my game, and i have since bought another n64 and Zelda.. thats how excellent the game is.

Majoras mask isnt gay its just a different style of game compared to oot. In MM you only have 3 days to complete the task - defeating skullkid - the guy who stole your horse and is wearing majoras mask to pull the moon down and crush the people of Termina(No Hyrule cause u run after skullkid and he goes through a warp and u end up in Termina). Anyway once the 3 days are up you have to warp back in time to the first day. Its a complex game with a darker tone and style of gameplay. You can morph into 3 different races instead of using the tunics - deku scrub/ goran / zora. Those all have different powers and shit. The bosses in MM are quite fun also. And you can collect like 30 masks that do different things in MM. It has enuff side quests like OOT and some people think its superior to OOt. There are plenty of ocarina songs u must master also. Its a really good game everyone should have played it...

Yeah it was fantastic. Got it for christmas when it came out and thought it was the best piece of software ever.

Majora's Mask was also amazing! Go and pick it up if you havent played it. It's like Groundhog day the game. Except better!

The new Zelda on the cube that is doesn't use cel shading looks great. I might have to import that. :)

water temple wasn't very hard it was just really confusing.. and OOT is my favorite game ever my 2nd fav is tied between X-men 2 from Genesis and Gunstar Heroes also from Genesis. Those game are fucking amazing. You should get the Genesis emulator and those roms, but play them with a gamepad its great fun.

I've been playing it the past three days in ZSNES to see how long it will take me to beat. I haven't played it since I was like 10 or 11 so I don't remember some parts of it.. But so far I've played a total of maybe 3-4 hours and right now I've just gotten the moon pearl and I'm fighting that fucking worm.

edit: two hours more tonight and I've gotten other assorted heart pieces, the master sword, ether medallion, quake medallion, hammer and other crap. I'm fighting the boss in the first dungeon in the dark world..

a few more hours and I've got the magic cape, fire rod, grappling hook, bombos medallion and assorted other items. I'm on the boss of dungeon 3 now. will finish that one tomorrow as I've been doing.
guess I'm keeping a personal log here that no one will ever read, but it's an easy way to keep track.

I am considering buying a gamecube, since there aren't really any pc games out on the last 3 years or so that I found worth playing for a bit longer than a day or two, and there seems to be a lot of cool games on it that Id like.

Im wondering, is it still worth it? Is the CG a dieing console? Are there promising titles coming out for it in the future? Should I just wait and get some next gen console?

Get a usa cube and stepdown. As games sometimes take fucking ages to come to the uk.

Resident Evil 4? Surely everything after the Resident Evil 2 was just as worthless as it was? I've heard nothing but that, in fact. Just a classic example of a corporate entity reducing something under a popular brand to make more money.

edit: Oh yeah and what's up with it being on Nintendo? It was originally a Playstation title and I don't even know if it works with Nintendo. Sounds like a piece of crap.

Resident evil is now exclusive to Gamecube.

The remakes were class on the cube....

And Resident evil 4 is attempting to bring in the players that got bored with it.

I think you can make that decision pretty easily. I don't know about new games, really, but this console has been out a while and it's cheap. But it's also nearly time for the new consoles.
However, if it were me, I wouldn't bother with any new consoles; consoles have been slowly degrading for years to a point where they're just crap.
I'd say the Gamecube is pretty good compared to the crappy PS2 and terrible XBOX (maybe this is why I didn't buy an XBOX), but no new consoles for the past six or seven years have been anything like SNES or Playstation. Playstation just wipes the floor with Dreamcast, N64, PS2, XBOX, and Gamecube. And well, SNES just wipes the floor with Playstation. I'm sorry, but gaming just seems like a huge joke these days. DOA VOLLEYBALL AND FPS GAMES?!! YAY!!!
They need to stop trying to 'innovate' and use silly graphics. We've already reached a point in gaming where you can make pretty much anything you want. Now let's try that.

Tony Hawk, I guess it's at four or five now? I don't keep up with that, haha, there's a new one every week. I have THPS3, but it's really good. Eternal Darkness is ok, it's kindof silly though.

You might wanna look at puzzle games - Super Monkey Ball, Zoocube. And maybe Pikmin.

Isn't Four Swords the new Zelda title? Or one of them? It's available on both Gamecube and Game Boy Advance, I think. It may just be one of those GBA/Gamecube link things that I know nothing about, but I'm sure you can still play it on the GC as well as the GBA.

theres that (which is like the 4 player competing stuff, yeah GBA ), but theres another new zelda coming out for the GC with very nice graphics (a lot more mature than previous zelda games). You should check out its trailer, it looks very good.

I have/have heard of/have played many of these.
Star Fox really seems like a disgrace to the Star Fox series. I don't think it's a terrible game, but WTF, Star Fox on land? It can't bring back the memories of playing Star Fox on SNES for hours.. In flight.. All the time.

And MKDA is just a total failure. Why are they still trying to milk the MK series? Yeah, ok, it's a decent game. But it gets hella boring. I don't know why, but it's nothing like the original 3.

I have the Star Wars game as well, and again, it's just a typical Star Wars game. They get very, very old.

Luigi's Mansion is hella short. Took a few hours to beat.

Yep this is most probably the best game ever made. For other fans I can highly recommend the 5 hour speedrun of the game which is a world record. Ocarina of Time is also being made in 2d format by fans of the game, in the same format as Link to the Past. Sounds amazing. I'm not sure how the project is turning out now but you should take a look at http://www.oot2d.com from time to another.
