At this point gaming is just as dangerous for a teenager as anything else. Don't tell me gaming hasn't messed up anyone's school, for example. I have seen gamers with tremendous potential waste a bulk of their education and I have seen a friend waste a relationship because of gaming. So no, it ain't the same as sports.

Dont you think that there are tons of people on this planet who wasted their time practising a sport to become a professional, and just did not cut it? With potential to excel in other fields. Just that these are the untold stories.

You did not misunderstand me. I know no judoka who practiced as much as I did and did not succeed who regrets it or considers it time wasted. Competitive sports are a controlled activity which will not mess up your school but shape your character, make you fitter and help in all aspects. Then, if you're very good you can become pro.

Games, on the other hand, are not controlled and don't have physical blockers like fatigue (or by no means to the same extent). A kid will play countless hours of games, especially if the parents are busy with work. The prospects of getting professional are also a lot slimmer...

While gaming can be a time eater in a way sports can't, there are tonnes of kids ignoring school and spend their time dreaming of football, skateboarding etc.

Check out junior hockey in Canada for example. It is a good analogy to gaming.

I think in general there are a number of kids that aren't interested in school and wouldn't do well there no matter what. They don't ignore school because they do other stuff, they do other stuff because they ignore school.

Still, you can't play football for eight hours a day. Even if it is so addictive it is physically impossible to waste all your life on sports. With gaming the case is different.

I've done that before, not often i'll admit, but i have done it...

to play no, to be encapsulated in football for 8 hours is easy.

1. The fact that professional gaming is undefined is a danger for young people who are hyped into "going pro." The CPL is the guilty party under my crosshair for 10 years of voilating the youth. The arrogance and greed of the CPL has left a universe of young people disillusioned and misguided. Their failure to create an organized and exclusive professional class of gamers and their flimsy tournament structure continues to pollute the gaming world.

2. This is not to say that gaming is bad, to the contrary it will most likely one day be a professional sport, but in the meantime what should we do about all these young kids lining up to forfeit their education and social development for a chance to be a small-time superstar?

3. Fatality is the best thing gaming has to offer because by his hard work he is breaking through to the mainstream. Once the public has a look into the true world of gaming they will be both inpressed and disgusted.

The CPL needs to address these problems by reaching out to the parents, and most important to create a real professional class of gamers. One should not be able to compete until they reach a certain age. One should not be able to compete for cash until they qualify for the professional tour like in golf.

Why on earth cant you chill without the use of drugs? I find it quite easy to chill with my mates without needing to take any drugs.
