Prolly the best ut2k4 movie, the only thing that i could complain about is the image quality, that is a little big blurry or something.

Otherwise its just a blast :) the frags are really nice, the choise of music pushes the tempo up( even though i dont like that kind of music :p ).

Since he know mr.LOVE he obviouslly got some skills!

Quality was a 5 at best. Come on people, use dumpframes and pump up the quality settings to all full. Then spend like 30 minutes on the config to get rid of HUD.

After that, this would have been the best movie ever released for UT2k4. But for now, No Escape 2 still beats it. Great content, shame about the presentation...

HUD = good

It's trying to be a movie, as shown by the recams and effects. The HUD gets in the way. I love the configs used in modern Quake 3 movies, they're very clear, yet they show off the game's excellent graphics.

If I wanted to see cool frags with HUD and shitty quality, I'd watch a demo.

have asked lots of peeps, and it seems like its 50/50, so i had to make the choice based on what i think is best, and i like the HUD, to watch hp, weps, et.c. think its a big part of a movie when u can see what weapon a person chooses in a special situation.

I agree, but, weapon texts can be made to appear if some effort is put into the config. I've personally cut my "movie" cfg down so that only kill texts and weapon selection texts show. And then there's the stupid clock which can't be disabled and needs to be cropped out basically.

HUD is OK for a frag movie, but if you want to get from a movie that's "good" to a movie that is legendary, then HUD really doesn't apply. VirtuositY is a good example - it's a great movie as a movie, despite the content being average. Hell, even its only real competitor, Lyon Connection, doesn't have a HUD on.

HUD on is one of those things that is limited to UT movies, and it's definitely a limiting factor in the quality of them IMO.

I generally prefer HUDs, although I agree that the HUDs of some games leave much to be desired.

For example, CLX's Quake 3 movies are excellent visually and fragually, but the HUD adds an extra boost to the enjoyment I get from watching them. It is neat to see him escape death by taking the MH a millisecond before being shot, or feel the power of an opponent's LG as it drains his HP, or watch him get out of a tough situation by making his last rockets count, or spam a few smileys after hitting a prediction shot across the map.

Basically, I watch movies both for pure visual appeal and to appreciate how the player handles situations ingame, so both matter to me. Removing a HUD takes away from the latter.

I'm not a UT player, but I've heard that the guns take up too much space onscreen, and that it is hard to adjust the HUD config when replaying demos? I guess it might be worth it to remove the HUD in that case.

Hmm, people make the same sorts of arguments against using ingame sounds in movies - if they wanted to hear hitsounds and gunfire, they'd watch a demo. Again, I disagree - I associate the ingame sounds with the flow of gameplay, so removing them is rather disturbing and makes it difficult to appreciate the game situations being depicted.

I'm all for in-game sounds if they're done tastefully. Sometimes you just get this massive noise playing at full volume and the music being completely blocked out by it. The problem with weapons is that you can't enable them if the demo was recorded without them on. And since all demos are recorded without, no movies have them on.

As for HUD, one option is to just crop it out, allowing you to edit in the health bar in particularily interesting scenes. But still, the best frag movies in my book are the ones that are made like movies, with syncing, recamming, a good mix of music, a clear mood and tasteful effects. And most of the HUD just takes up space anyway and gives you no useful information. It is a rare day when what's going on in the HUD is more interesting than what's going on around the crosshair...

the frags were quite okay, picture quality colud have been better and the editing was a bit chaotic at times..

..but the music done by that "dj spectre" guy was just plain old fucking retarded.

pretty good, some nice frags could do with full ingame sounds though. the music in the first section is a matter of personal opinion, however you cant go wrong with prodigy

oh and the bit at 4:28 is brilliant, how did you get that equalizer effect?

easily the best 2k4 movie i have seen very good job.

That file size is simply ridiculous.

yeah indeed.. problem is:
my ut2k4 had BIG problems playin anyone elses demo, nooj had to make all demos --> avi.. and had to add xvid to them due to the large size, would take ages just sending em.. and both his and my hd is full, and i didnt feel like buying a new HD just to make a kickass imagequality movie... i made it 5mbps wmv9 since the outcome was way better than for example 6mbps xvid.
Of course i wanted to have as good quality as possible, i know its possible to have better quality @ for ex. 3mbps xvid, that wasnt just an option this time :( Since we dont have 56k modems anymore.. what do u really care??? is it such a pain to wait 1-5 minutes extra?? well, if thats the case im sorry..

yeah, why dont you just release uncompressed movies....
its not only about downloading but also about storing
next time learn how to make a properly set up xvid :)

you could try vmware for a start, or knoppix (a cd distro, runs completely from the cd). some googling will find you such asci howtos for some other games, too.

take opengl mode @ ut2k4 and choose another render @ your ati drivers (if you got nvidia, then its just too bad), and then you'll find an option in the advanced opengl settings in your catalyst where you can choose white or green ascii

+++on music choice (including the first song). Finally something diffirent from the start intro with a classic song + no clipping all maps into the never ending satan admiring,god and everything else hating un-understandable screaming guy with a guitarist and a drummer on the background frag part of the movie.

Some nice editing in it aswell (especially the audio stream thingy and the ascii art map was sweet). Just a bit dark overall though, might be the maps, my old monitor or the movie, can't tell :)

One of the best 2k4 movies, but still not really comparible with quake movies.

But good job for an UT movie

Gave it a 4, should have been a 5 after a second thought.
Anyway my main reasons are:

Music: personally not my kind of music.

Graphics: picture quality not sharp enough and to much Trapcode shine if u ask me.

Frags: good but simple (nothing special).

Still i can see u have put alot of effort into it and i always respect that, so on a second thought i give it a 5 :)
