Z, I suggest www.quakecon.org that is the official site.
They will probably pull the post straight down, but if you put a post up there I am at least sure the people who need to move their ass will at least have a btter chance of hearing you.

12.5k is a lot of money and you should get it for the time you put into the game and your travel expenses etc.
Just be sure not to flame and maybe they will cut you a cheque it being the 10th Anniversary of Quakecon and all.
I doubt it's idsoftware being mean.
they were recently going float the Quake III engine for people to use, but a few months ago they charged a developer several hundred thousand so are holding off the free release to prevent no hard feelings.
Also, it's pretty easy to get any idsoftware staff email.

The biggest problem is time, 2 years people might not care anymore.

First of all you should find the Company that is responsible. Get their address. Then write a formal letter, make a copy and send it registered post to ask for a response on why you have not been paid your prize money yet.

The company should respond to a letter, whereas it's easy to ignore an email. I don't know the situation, sometimes there's problems sending money out (I've had huge problems sorting out my own prize money payments for EOGC) but if you have done nothing wrong then I don't see why they wouldn't eventually pay.

First thing first though, get an official response in writing from the company. Then you know if you should make a fuss. There will be plenty of people on ESR that can help you make problems for this company if they refuse to pay and you have done nothing wrong.

and Larvi:
I was late cause of the Tax-ID, it took me over 1 year to get that one, I tried several times but they didnt agree it.

Did you let them know that you were having trouble getting the tax id? Did they offer to help? Do you have some proof (e.g. emails, letters) showing why it took so long to get a tax id.

These would be useful things to document.

They have not send me some information about WHY it takes so long time.
I have sent alot of emails about the money, just to gain some information about it, but no answers. They answered me FIRST, when I asked what I have to do to get the money, and they said that I have to get the Tax-ID so I can get 100% of the money, 12.500$. If not, I haev to pay the tax of 35%.
And they know that I had alot of problems to get the Tax-ID.
Marty Stratton e-mailed me and asked me how it goes with the Tax-ID for maybe 4 months ago.

But now I dont know why they dont answer me when im trying to talk with them.

The guys at GGL might help you. They are at least US based and from the looks of it they are trying to put more effort into supporting players. I can ask Hakeem if they are able to help.

edit: ok I've lost hakeem's email address and it doesn't seem to be on the website. I can ask Carmac to contact them since he's working with them now.

I agree, if he wanted to, he could sue them for a whole lot more than what he's won. But the fact that he's waited this long without really doing all that much to claim the money, could prove to be a disadvantage. But hey, no real need to start talking about lawsuits, as I'm sure QC are doing their best to resolve this matter. Zamuz is probably making insane amounts of money on poker anyway (just like the rest of All* :p)

its not very cool to let one of the best players wait so long for his money. everybody should think where the game would be without z4muz and other good gamers. to be honest i dont think that some pro-gamers are given the right respect at every tournament. hope that ull get ur money soon, if not then i propose to make a new thread then i will write to qcon staff, and sure all others in here too

so my pb is more that when u are one of the best, then i really cant understand it. if nobody knows u it could be a mistake, i would not wonder if anybody is after to pay me in a short period of time. it would be wrong 2 but maybe they only forgot about it(because they never read my name before and then say aahh sry when i write or phone). forget paying a well know and good person, im interested in how that works. so the real reason i guess is that they didnt make enough effort to pay the money. hows that that you have to say pls for your well earned money, naah i hope that qcon say sorry and make come this to an quick end.

and now i remember a good example : i had payed 1000euro for a new pc and then had to wait around 5months till i got all in right condition(normal delivery was 4weeks max !). in the beginning no responses on my emails. then they said sorry but anything changed . my father and me went to the police then they react ! i think before they wanted to get away without giving me my things.

not that i think this is needed, but only to say if its needed than do it. i didnt wanted to go to the police but theyd left me no choice at the end. afterward i said that to them and they didnt take this move wrong. they even sent me a better gfx card for my wait and annoyance(that saved 200euros a the end). in this case i propose the new sum is around 14000 then ? :) - qcon will make it right

I'm sure he got it in the end. Quakecon really do take the piss with regards to paying winnings to anyone outside of america. GZD, aAa, 4K and many others had problems getting thier winnings as well from 2k3, 2k4.

happens to basically half of the tourney winners, as far as i understand. either get the prizes directly at the tourney or you have a good chance of looking through your fingers. especially with smaller tourneys where prizes are so low that it is not feasible for the participant to hire a lawyer in the worst case - the promoters know this and you're screwed from the beginning
