La la la, same routine as the other days.
Got the event all ready for the 2v2 tdm th0r was arranging to keep the players busy on their 2nd day of bugger all to do. When we got there, no other ut2004ers were around! th0r wasn't impressed as he had got up especially for them, nevermind. Spent a while around iTG area talking to red, went to press area to see how pk/cs was going at dallas, female cs final was played and they were interviewed on the press stage.
The 2v2 eventually started, watched some Q3 matches from various places, czm/fox I watched from a little bit from the side of czm so I could see whatever the PoV was on the plasma and also czm's screen, was good =].
Eagerly watched fnatic.cs beat U5 on IRC with various other fnatic staff around (sizah, rail, snake, dvo, black2lip I think too). Think I prefer ircbots to watching CS live/hltv :\ Had a fnatic meal with I think everyone fnatic at the event except toxic.
Killed time until the Q3 final, czm vs Cooller (was moved to 9.30pm with no announcement at all ¬_¬). They took ages setting up, after 20 or so minutes they then announced they were going to do an allstar TDM with czm/cooller as coach. Was good but I think alot just wanted to watch the final, for a late start the stage was more or less full which was good to see, even though his team lost Cooller "had reason to smile" :)). The actual final eventually was played, a comfortable hub for czm after a bad start, dm6 could of gone better for czm, cooller was quite campy sometimes (catwalk stairs, shards) he would sit/crawl around for some time before moving off again. Third map (dm13? quake isn't my game :) ) felt unlucky as there were numerous frag+suicides (at least 5), czm just couldn't seem to take cooller down heavy alot of the time even with good opportunity (don't take my comments too strongly, quake isn't my game =p).
Watched the postmatch ceremony, interview, medals and cheques then headed to hotel for the last time.
Most memorable moments were Cooller answering his phone twice on stage :)) and also talking to someone from Blizzard who stopped by to see ut/q3, dunno who he was but he said he'd played with CombatCarl in the past.
That was my last day at ESWC, the next morning I decided to head straight for CDG. With hindsight I could of gone for at least another 1hr or so in the morning as I had tons of time at cdg doing nothing.
To summarise;
The Good-
Players, people, staff, etc
PCs
Food (6+ restaurants upstairs from the event)
Layout, ut2004+q3+itg were right next to each other, very handy
The Bad-
wlan was press room only, securing it with a key that changed every 24hrs available on the press site or at least putting it on mainstage and/or itg area would of been great
Timing of ut2004, played way too fast, and only 1 stage match
If they had been more efficient with the use of the main stage they could of ran alot more matches and at various times for different games so they all get a fair share
Announcements, or lack of, if there was a PA system I didn't notice it, main stage schedule was on site for ages but still an announcemnt letting people know 30mins before a match was due would of got more people at some matches, also the Q3 final was moved (although by the time it started it didn't matter) without any warning
Exhausted everything I can remember on first try, these entries are not meant to be especially coherent/good english/interesting etc. Any factual inaccuracies please point out, my memory isn't good on the best of days, remembering what happened for several full days having made no record is bound to have mistakes!
Thanks for reading (if you did, otherwise *shrug*), hi/bye to everyone who was there and I met, wish I'd of come in yesterday to at least say bye/etc
