Finally after a week of hassle and stress over my plane tickets for Dallas, everything is now confirmed. In fact, all the problems actually worked out in my favour in the end, as I've been given a direct flight now, rather than a 3 hour mid stop in Toronto (they need to extend their runways anyway).
I've never had many issues with buying things online, in fact im probably one of the only people in my family that regularly relies on ordering via the net. So for a plane ticket, it made even more sense to find the right flights and prices, or so I thought. I wont mention the stupid people I dealt with first time, but suffice to say, not telling your customer that their card is not accepted, AFTER they take the number on the website, is not the done thing! 7 days later, I call to say ive had nothing from them only to be told, the tickets are sold to someone else as my card is not accepted by the travel company, GAH!
Oh well, all ends rosey anyway, the new flight is direct and cheaper (O.o).
So now to concentrate on finishing off the prep for Quakecon instead of worrying about transport. I've not been to Dallas, but I understand from the maps the Gaylord isnt far from the Airport. Though, I was also told its not "walking distance" in a Texas summer. Hmmmm, better pack some light clothes I guess.
As for the event, there are 8 iTG personel attending, which is truelly awesome, though we are missing a couple of people I really wanted to meet up with, which is shame. Coverage of the games themselves should be awesome with this much talent to use and im hoping I can get in on the action with the Q3 ladies. (oo-err!).
Doom3 promises to be a little more of a challenge in terms of commentry as it doesnt seem to suit my fast paced trousers on fire kinda style. But I'll reserve judgement until ive casted in Dallas. (I am my most bitter critique when it comes to how I cast btw).
The camera is packed already, complete with supply of 1gig mem cards and recharged batteries. Ready for plenty of pics to appear on ESR as well as the daily journal entries I promised. I also have the ability to take 640x480 quiktime on the camera, so lets hope they dont realise this until ive recorded a few minutes of Q4 action!!
Flight is booked for next Tuesday afternoon (arriving mid afternoon in Dallas) so first reports from Dallas (net connection allowing) should be on ESR from Wednesday along with the first pics.
Lets hope its a good one, im sure there will be plenty of stuff to send back to ESR, so stay tuned, or as kdawg would say "pencil spits commanding the platoon with morba thinking about vector to punching a donkey and daishi don't let me towel compounds so eloquently?".
