Copy the shortcut to the css file, then go to the preferences page and paste it in as custom css.

Hey Bootes, say you have an image inserted using CSS and you would like to have text or maybe another image on the same line next to it. How would you go about doing this?

I've tried using both absolute and relative but no joy, it always seems to put new items on the line below.

Well, take for instance the ESR logo at the top left of the page, how would you, or how did you get the menu box (far right) to go on the same line but in the right corner?

The menubox is set to an absolute position on the page (not within any other divs) so it is independent of anything else on the page.

Alternatively I might have put the <div id="menubox> before the site title and floated it right.

So to make things independant of others you just do :

instead of :

div.menubox {

blah }

If so where do you refer to it in the HTML ? Since you must refer to items in the CSS using div ? Or have you just used an inline style for that specific item?

The way you refer to it doesn't matter actually.

if you use:
<div id="menubox">stuff</div>

then the css to reference it is:
#menubox {}

ALternatively if you use:
<div class="menubox">stuff</div>

Then you would use:
.menubox {}

Or:
div.menubox {}

(the div is just a container, you can do pretty much the same stuff with other tags, such as <h1 class="menubox"></h1> or <label class="menubox"></label> etc. Infact proper web designers would not use div at all because it doesn't mean anything. Instead they'd use <h1> for big headings, <h2> for sub headings, <p> for content and so on. That way if someone was reading your html it would make sense without any css markup.

I have no idea. I'm not that good with CSS myself, just trying some stuff and messing around. CSS layouts are a pain in the ass and the editing can be very annoying. I'm getting more and more impressed by the work Sujoy had to put into porting the whole thing into CSS.

A good CSS designer could probably do wonders with the layout. The only limitation are the predefined ids and classes you are bound to.

Need to fix some of the non-transparent images.

The stylesheet has the old design layout for the user profile. Sujoy made some updates in the meantime so that's why it's out of line.

I have no direct access to the file to do changes, so I guess I'll have to upload a new version :-)

I've updated the CSS! It is now identically to the default css (with all those comments Sujoy added) + the changes I made.

fixed: the little 4 dots are now green too
fixed: top left corners of boxes are round and transparent
fixed: user profile page looks pretty again

I changed some stuff in your theme there because png's arent transparent in IE so it looks a bit broken (changed them to gifs).

Also there's now a link to make it easier to view other people's theme, it's at the end of the profile list, e.g. yours is now:

I made it a two-click process so that people can't fool you into changing theme :)

Oh, I always forget about IE. I'm used to use PNGs..

I've been trying to think of a good way to do it, the problem I have is that any (good) css will come with images also so it's not a single file. Also I expect people will be adding images and then later fiddling with settings so the images have to be available before the css is finished. Maybe I'll have a brainwave later.
