lol man... I had a bit of revelation a few years ago and it makes me laugh thinking about it now. I was round a mate's house and was drawing on pad while we were talking bollocks and for some reason I came out with...

... and I felt this was a real revelation. Even wrote it down so I wouldn't forget. Seems silly now but these things happen ;]

Nah, had that plenty of times before.. This was something else, a feeling that came from nowhere, and just hit me hard. Like a fact.

To stick on topic, i would always think how cool it would be to travel back to the middle ages. So i could use all my modern day knowledge to become supreme ruler etc. Then i got to thinking shit like, i know about microwaves, cars, space ships etc, but i couldnt ever build one on my own. Human knowledge has advanced to the stage where one man cannot posses it all.
Where as 600 years ago, you could probably learn every non-fictional thing humans had discovered without too much trouble.
Pretty pointless thing for me to share, it's just a recurring thought i've had since i was very young.

To rearrange my writing, 90% of all the people around to day are exactly the same as 90% of the people 2000 years ago, the evolutionary tree ain't really doing it's job. To say we have lost most of our morals in this day and age and we live in a careless society compared to a past age is untrue, or at least unproven since history books are crap. The ancient romans were alot more decadent than any society living today (cept maybe rockstars and porn stars, but come on)

Well, you are saying you had a feeling that we have passed some limit, which, I think many people have realised from time to time. But I say, no, this is not true, it is an illusion of us passing a limit, but it has always been the same. We can't accurately judge human kind because it's been around for 120 000 years and our life time is only 70 odd years, we are only looking out from our tiny window. The limit you may be passing maybe the age limit, when you are not a child anymore and you are now a man, and therefore cannot relate to the youth anymore... if so I feel sorry for you :PPPP (Although it is possible to make it back.... MUSHROOMS!)

I talked about a feeling, i didn't realise something actual. Besides, human-made destinctions between time periods are usefull. On a sidenote; i do feel like we are early on the next "time-period" whatever it might be called.

i don't know about evolution not happening, for example people with poor eye sight may be able to pass on their genes thus going against evolution thanks to society, but then again they may have some some genes (intelligence, pheromones/smell, good sense of smell/taste etc.) that would help, which is the reason they managed to reproduce. also longevity maybe increasing because of evolution, which allows us to look after our offsprings offspring offspring etc. evolution continues no matter what, just don't expect lasers shooting out our eyes or even for the evolution to be useful.

Zactly what I meant. Evolution ain't exactly a gift. There's this thing called the balancing line where say 2 geniuses get together and have offspring, their children will be less intelligent than them to stay in tune with the rest of society.

Evolution (the definition you are reffering too) is slow, slow, slow and will not play any part in the future as i see it..

it's the only evolution and it's always playing a part in the future of life. for example, infertility has grown and probably still is growing, that could play a major part in the next 50 years alone.

So infertility is a cause of evolution? now that makes some serious sense :x

infertility is mostly caused by pollution, some peoples bodys might be able to deal with the pollution or certain infertility causing chemicals and pass on their dna because they don't go infertile. also (depending on if intelligence is genetic, which is questionable) those with intelligent dna are probably more likely to live in less polluted areas so don't become infertile, thus more intelligence in the human population, this one is unlikely, but who knows.

But still don't agree, evolution as we know it will not have a notable impact on the 21st century :)

the only way evolution will have a notable impact on the 21st century, is if humans completely die out. evolution happens with every generation to keep a species alive, the only reason we don't notice it is because were still alive.

its been like that since the beggining. And btw, evolution is not a constant thing, mankind has evolved a lot before middle age (Romans, Arabs), then the middle age came up and the evolution kinda stopped for almost 1000 years. No hygiene standards, crooked logic and morals, etc. (at least in the western world)
Its all likely that we'll stop "evolving", and thats a good thing considering how things are going atm.
