For the love of god people - it makes no sense to have 6 people on a server, but only having 2 of them playing. Vote restart the damn map after every round and abuse the tournament system - that way everyone can keep playing.
Xfoo, I'm pretty sure if you were not the one going out in the first round every game then you would not have a problem with the current system.
Lets hope idsoftware include a loser bracket for people like you in the next revision, Lol :)
This idea comes from my sympathy towards the new players who want to get better at a game, but are forced to sit out for 3/4 of the time that they are "playing". Furthermore, it is quite annoying to join a server after a tournament has already begun. You will need to wait 30 minutes to play, when a simple vote after the first round will allow everyone to play.
what he says is right. it should have been more like a multi-arena thing where many people can simply duel each other on a single server at the same time instead of this brackets bullshit which really isn't useful.
I think the brackets thing is ok.
Of course there should be a traditional standalone duel mode to like q3 etc, but many people are having a lot of fun with this bracket thing.
If it had a loser bracket then it would be v good.
that's not the point. just because some people are having fun doesn't mean its the right approach. right now, it kinda 'punishes' people who lose by making them sit out which obviously turns off all the new players who would rather play some other game instead of waiting a long time. were Raven trying to emulate PK and narrow the community down to an elite 17 instead of combining the good aspects of RA3/CA and duel? a simple loser's bracket at the time of release would have made a significant difference imo since a new player who loses the first round would immediately be matched up against someone around the same skill level as him. i don't understand how raven could not want to do this when it is clearly possible. some kind of incentive to get better at the game? i don't think so.
It would be so much better if once you were 'eliminated', you could just go and play someone else thats been 'eliminated' for the 10 or 15 minutes, then move onto someone else. The support is there for multiple games on the one server, it could be used so much better.
