Over the weekend of the 2nd of June at CovLan there were some fantastic Quake4 matches, accompaineed with outstanding shoutcasting from
Radio iTG's ReDeYe and TosspoT.
The following are the 2 highlights of the event that didn't deserve to have only their demo uploaded, instead they have been put together into a movie format by ReDeYe. They are:
SK.fooki Vs *aAa*winz 1v1 Final on Monsoon.
Fooki comes back from the loser bracket and takes winz into the 4th map in the final.
Dignitas Vs 4Kings TDM final on Edge.
Dignitas win the first map on BetterThanNothing, only to have to beat 4K on their strongest map Edge.
Regarded by many as the finest Quake4 matches to date, they are both well worth a watch.

Hall of Fame: All-time Classic (added to hof by ReDeYe)
On August 16, 1960, Joe Kittinger was strapped into an specially modified U.S. Air Force balloon and set off on an ascent into the clouds. After 4 hours he reached the edge of space at a record breaking altitude of 102,800 feet (approx 20 miles above land). At that height he was basically in outerspace with very little atmosphere and an outside temperature at 100 degrees below zero.
Then Joe did something that showed he had the biggest balls on the planet....he jumped out.
Joe was in freefall for over 4 minutes and hit a top speed of over 700 miles per hour.
Boards of Canada used some of the footage that Joe and the balloon camera shot in their video for "Dayvan Cowboy." You can see it here.

Bollucks. midget didnt win anything :(
Never-mind, i'm very happy with being nominated for so many awards. Anyway, I have something much bigger planned for next time, you crazy llama.
My stay in NZ is coming to a close. To be quite honest i'm glad to be coming home to boring old Blighty. There's something about this country that i can't quite put my finger on that really bugs me. Maybe because it's just not home. I'll be back around 10th May i hope, i just have to sell my van first.
Oh, and i updated
my gallery a while ago, but noone seemed to care.
I've had a splendid time, and certainly 'grown-up' (even though i dont show it through my online persona). I left England still a teenager and will come home an adult.

I cannot pitch tents too well.
So basically we sat out there all night drinking beers and watching the most clear stars i've ever seen. Saw a meteorite burn across the sky too. good times. The walk back down was nice and long.
I'm leaving NZ and will be home in time for mid-may (hurray). Thinking of going to ESWC this year, but have no idea about it. Anyone (ideally UK people) thinking of going and want to share petrol? Or will you fly?

I have no idea why i like this shot but i do. just us walking through woods up to the site.
Sorry for quality.

well hello!
i'm toying with the idea of staying here for the winter season and learning to snowboard, the only thing stopping me is financial stuff (as is life). In the meantime i've fallen in love with Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats. Its probably been out for a while in yonder northern hemisphere, things are a little slow down here. The albums good too (thank you nigel), so. yeah, yup.
Dunno what to do, i want to go home and see my family too.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In An Aeroplane Over the Sea
You know that kind of empty feeling you get sometimes, when you're alone? As if there's something missing from your life, but you just don't know what?
Well, there is something missing.
And this is it.
And you need it to be complete, I can tell.
This album is mind-blowingly original. It's amazing. Neutral Milk Hotel is a big band with an even bigger sound. Explosive drums that rattle windows and sensibilities. Theremin. Horns! Great bass lines, rockin' guitar, mind-warping (great) lyrics, assorted weirdness, and some of the best, most original vocals the music world has ever known.
This album is an experience. It may take you a while to get used to the vocals which are high and screechy and unlike anything you've ever heard, but which slam you with the full impact of exactly what the singer's trying to say. Sometimes the music is nothing but a voice and an acoustic guitar, yet the vocals are so full and so...much...that you might not even notice until several listens later.
They told you beer was an acquired taste, and you choked it down until you liked it. Well, this may be an acquired taste as well, but it's even better than beer.

...finally have a job in NZ. Working behind the counter at an internets "centre"
I speak to people, burn on the odd CD and take money. Easiest job ever (apart from maybe the end money count which im sure i'm going to totally fuck up).
So i'm finally settled! Not only am i living in a house i also have a job, it was quite hard to land one too (hence it took so long).
+ I also get free activities as i'm now a local working guy. So i can basically Bungy jump, skydive, jetboat ride, paraglide, hanglide etc etc for free! aha. think i'll save them though. I <3 Queenstown.
Got a few funky photos to up soon as well, will do it on next shift.
And remember: Peace in the Middle-East, yo!

Not long after my last journal my van had to take its Warrant of Fitness. Well it failed badly so i had little choice to scrap it. At the time i was mighty pissed off but in a way it was a blessing in disguise.
I decided i was sick of the North Island so i hopped on the plane to the South again to Christchurch. Spent a week there buying a new van and trying to plot what i want to do next. I met some guy (who as it turns out is an asshole but at the time seemed ok at the time) and he mentioned he was heading to Queenstown, which is the main Ski-Town in NZ. This sounded like a super-dooper plan and i figured that i could get a job and a flat out here. Not only is it in a fantastic location but its quite a lively town, always something going on etc.
So we drove over here and at the moment i'm going through the motions of trying to find somewhere to live (theres plenty of flatshares available) and a so so job. Working in an outdoor shop would be ideal i think.
My plan is to work through the summer maybe and then have enough $ to spent the winter learning to snowboard. And then it'll be just about time to come home. Anyway thats about it i guess. Out of curiousity i drove up to where Isengard was filmed yesterday. Mighty impressive. I also went for a walk and stumbled upon the location where the filmed the "Oliphant Scene." No-one at 'ome would believe this :/
Crazy. NZ really is Middle-Earth. Rohan is up the road, i might go check out later but the weather is a bit pish-pash today.
thats all really. a few new piccies in
my gallery. I don't really
need a van now that i'll have a flat. But its a pretty cool vehicle so i don't care!

Jo went home on the 1st and i'm feeling very lonely on the otherside of the world with just my campervan for company :(
Without trying to sound all emo: the day she left was probably the hardest in my life and i'm not ashamed to say i cried alota!
But there you go.
Its very hard when you're with someone you love 24/7 and then have that bond instantly cut, especially when you have no-one else to comfort you. I of course can phone home & speak to family/friends & Jo herself (which i will tonight) but it doesn't really compensate.
I feel lonely :(
anyway, enough expressing my feelings to the internets.
At least my profile picture has a pirate ship in it now.
For those who don't know,
my gallery has been updated. Enjoy.
oh and i turned 20 on the 30th of August.
byebye for now!
woopy UPDATE: well my 1986 Toyota Liteace van had to take its WOF (basically an MOT) and it failed BAD. and when i say bad i mean awful, and when i say awful i dont think there was a single thing that was ok with it. so basically as the way things stand ive got to scrap it. this left me mildly pissed off. i decided, after much grrring and ffsing that i should catch a flight from Auckland and fly down to the much more exciting south island to Christchurch. maybe get a job there and find a new van. now im not nearly so annoyed and even slightly glad that i had an excuse to get rid of that unreliable dangerous POS. the end.xxx

Well well.
Some of you probably know that tomorrow i'm leaving. I'm going travelling for a year on the otherside of the world! 1month in Australia and 11 in New Zealand (unless for some odd reason i need to come home early.) The past 8 or 9 months i've been working towards it, i still can't believe i'm finally going, i don't think it'll sink in till i get to the airport or land in Australia.
I'm meeting my girlfriend out there who left England back in January and has been working/travelling in Ecuador for 5months and then moved onto Australia where i'll meet her. She'll stay with me for 2 months. We'll be travelling down the East coast from Cairns to Sydney then flying to Christchurch in NZ and my plans arnt quite worked out that far yet. We'll be camping most of the time, which will be cool (even though its obviously their winter out there.) Then she is coming home to go to uni (and probably won't be my gf from then on :p) and i'll be staying out in NZ by myself moving about and doing whatever.
The flight is a dreaded 26hours, i don't like flying and the thought of being cramped up smelling other peoples farts for a whole day doesn't thrill me to bits but it has to be done i guess. So anyway enough blabbering. I shall be updating my ESR journal now and then from net cafes, hopefully with some nice pictures for those who are curious. Have a good year, because i know i'm going to :)

midget is a short Quake3 CPMA movie i've been working on for about 5months. I hope you like it.
Ultimately midget is designed to be different. Whether it be the music/frags/effects it was all created in what i hope is a style that is rarely seen in gaming movies. I found myself looking at frag movies lately and noticing a trend, most (not all) are littered with un-needed poorly designed effects, lengthy frags and credits that are low quality with generic music. So i set out to make something that deviated a bit. I kind of like to think i've achieved my goal but whether or not you enjoy the outcome is of course entirely your decision, but i hope you do. I think it's alot like marmite/vegemite, you either get or you don't.
Length: 2:17
Frags: 52
Frames per sec: 45
Size: 123mb
The reason for the large file size (considering the movie length) is that with todays connections 123mbs is nothing, and when it comes to watching a movie there is nothing more annoying than when they are blurry with low sound quality.
I'm going now! Goodbye!

Oh, one think that was kinda funny.. Some of you UKers might be aware of the program Time Team. CPMA frag vid made by and featuring eizid and kahoona.
What eizid said:
Frags are done by eizid and kahoona on various different maps (we aimed for that). Air rockets, grenades, shaft stuff, rail shots, couple of quad runs. Video runs 7 minutes and 18 seconds and xvid is needed to watch the video. I didnt spend time on super hyper effects because the idea of this video is just to show our best frags. That's it I guess, hopefully someone is able to enjoy our little video. Oh yeah I created and edited this video too.

I am the Superman, the great enemy of evil. I fight for goodness, fight for whats right. The Superman with super-powers, the super-good against bad behaviour. I've always been a Superman.
When i was a boy, i wanted to be a fireman. Run through the flames with my super-helmet, pump up water and fight the fire. Hot flames and evil smoke, smash things up with a big hammer and rescue all the good people - the proper citizens.
I wanted to make my Mum proud of me, she was my Superwoman.
I wanted to be a doctor, fight against diseases with my knowledge, make my Mum immortal. Help everybody who was in trouble or feeling bad.
And i wanted to be an officer, a policeman with a blue uniform. Put bad people into jail and keep crime off the streets. Chase gangsters with my super-car and shoot them up with my bullets.
I wanted to be a great man, like my father - a good man, taking care of his loving family; wife and son. Come in home everyday after work and read a newspaper. Build a house in the countryside and go fishing.
Now i've got it all, well my wife doesnt love me anymore.. but thats ok. I've got the other plans already, i have it all figured out. I am the Superman, fight against the bad.
One day i'll fly away, like a butterfly, high up into the sky.

I like flying, flying kites.
Flying kites, flying kites.
Kites are fun.
See my kite it’s fun,
See my kite, it’s green and white
Laughing in its distant flight
All that’s between us is a little yellow string,
But we like each other more than anything
And we run along together through the field behind my house
And the little drops of rain caress her face and wash my blouse
And we’d like to be a zillion miles away from everyone
‘Cause Mom and Dad and Uncle Bill don’t realize:
Kites are fun.
See my kite, it’s green and white
Laughing in its distant flight
All that’s between us is a little yellow string,
But we like each other more than anything

Basically he blends music from all genres into one 30min run and the outcome is nearly always great. a taster i guess would be
Green Day vs. Oasis vs. Travis vs. Eminem - "Boulevard of Broken Songs", which is just a single track he did, i believe it even got played on Radio1.
1. Linkin Park vs. Jay-Z "Points of Authority / 99 Problems"
2. Nena vs. Jay-Z "99 Luft Problems"
3. Red Hot Chili Peppers "Can't Stop"
4. Beck "Where it's At"
5. Pharaoh Monch "Simon Says"
6. Franz Ferdinand 'Take Me Out"
7. Chic "Good Times"
8. Beastie Boys "Triple Trouble"
9. Franz Ferdinand "Take Me Out" (Norman Geist remix)
10. Daft Punk vs. Queen "Another One Bites da Funk" (Party Ben mashup)
11. Queen vs. ODB "Bite" (Kleptones Mashup)
12. Green Day vs. Oasis etc. "Boulevard of Broken Songs"
13. Nine Inch Nails vs. Beatles "Come Closer" (DJ Zebra Mashup)
14. The Smiths vs. Blackstreet "Blacksmiths" (StvD mashup)
15. The Music "Breakin'"
16. Jane's Addiction "Been Caught Stealing"
17. Scissor Sisters "Take your Mama"
18. Nickelback vs. Scissor Sisters "Take Your Mama Fighting" (Toneblender mashup)
Theres a few mixes uploaded on his site at the
download section and torrents of previous ones on some other site which is linked. if you really want i can send you everyone i have, which is a quite a few, via dcc.
not only that is a top guy and even did me a favour once.
if you hate it then fair enough, each to their own.

It has a controversial, yet nifty GFX setup and a real cool soundtrack. Some cool frags and weird tricks on a few non-standard maps. It's only
Australian players casted for this movie as far as i know, but that dosen't diminish the quality one bit.

the days go too slow.
the evenings go too fast.
cpma is kinda fun, especially clan games with jizz, though i can no longer say im a 'new' player, so there goes that excuse out the window. (though i did discover only yesterday that models make a noise when low health, very useful that)
was flicking through old photos, i dont know if i ever uploaded this one here but its certainly one of my favs. taken summer '03 in the Dolomites. thats me, so obviously i didnt take it.
edit: i've uploaded it before so its removed. if you wanna check it >

june 18th cannot come fast enough. the days drag by at a pace similar to my cpma movement. as i work my way through what seems like endless monstrous piles of work invoices and tap away at my calculator, my mind is elsewhere. im planning my route down the east coast of Australia and imagining wondering through the New Zealand landscape without a worry in the world. i often wonder what its going to be like seeing my gf for the first time after 5months when she meets me at Cairns airport after i touch down. im pretty sure i wont be able to keep the smile off my face.
good things come to those who wait i guess.
last june or something i uploaded some pictures of a sunset orientated nature. these are from the same location, not long after. its almost mandatory for me to upload some pictures in my journals now. so no more [pictures] tag in the topic. you may just assume that theyre there. credit goes to my gf for these. i dont think i took them.

Elloza.
whats up?
I know you only clicked on this li
nk cos youre promised more wonderful tom holiday pictures! well you wont be disappointed, but first: Just a sort of "me" update.
Well, i go travelling to Australia at the end of June and meet my girlfriend out there (who is already travelling out in Ecuador) and journey down the east coast to Sydney. Then fly to Christchurch, NZ. Spend a month wondering around there (Snowboaring too), then my gf goes home. Ive got an open ended return ticket so i could be there till June 2006, god willing i can land a job.
So im working at some weird engineering place doing ez boring office work all day, nothing to dwell on and my gf is on the other side of the world. which makes tom very sad :( like you care anyway.
ive been doing some stuff and some other stuff too uuuh, last mildly interesting thing i did that has pictures was going to Tenby (ugh) in on the Welsh coast with friends. Horrible town, lovely surroundings. well i promised pics, and as ever, Wales has delivered. May i add, i didnt take a single one of these shots cos my camera crapped out, but i'll gladly take credit for them all, thanks.

"My life has a superb cast, but I can't figure out the plot."
The following select few pictures are from St. Davids on the Pembrokeshire coast of Wales, which i visited with my girlfriend for a long weekend.
I go to this same place every year and love it even more each time, these following two views are from probably my favouriate spot in the whole world, dont ask me why, it just is.

The picture below isn't particularly striking or impressive as such, i just think the colours sit well, this is the beach that we camp near, great for late night bbq's.

I've darkened this picture because i figured my girlfriend wouldnt be too keen on me posting pictures with her in them on a website with potentially hundreds of views. i think the effect makes a nice silhouette anyway.
I have only chosen a select few for various reasons so this is the final one, the sunset that we left behind on the drive home. i want to go back right now.

Many say that Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland are wet, dreary and generally depressing places, theyre wrong.
