iCE-cLIMBERS Player and Quake 4 Legend Johan "toxjq" Quick got interviewed by fragster.de. He speaks about new hobbies, his experience with Quake Live and about a possible comeback of ic.
Tell us what you have been doing since you have retired from gaming. toxjq: Well, first of all I wouldn't say that I have retired from gaming in that sense but I haven't been playing much since the last Quake 4 event i32. I did compete in ESWC Athens last year with a few weeks of preparing in Quake 3, but I really wasn't expecting a high placement in that tournament since I wasn't prepared enough but of course I tried to make the best of it at that point.
The fifth season of the ESL Major Series has been announced about a week ago, including Quake Live 4v4 TDM with a pricepool of 1,000 € . After an outcry by parts of the community, the ESL is considering other gamemodes and even started an inofficial poll to get some community feedback. fragster.de spoke to people inside the community to hear their opinions about it.
Benjamin 'calipt' Jakob (Quake-Player from YoYoTech)
Zhibo 'Jibo' Fan (Quake-Player for Razer)
Romain 'Dem0n' Leclercq (Quake-Player from LowLandLions)
James '2GD' Harding (ESL-TV Host and Ex-Quake Player)
Peter 'cYmoZz' Sellmaier (Quake-Player from hoorai)
Karl 'karl1' Danielsson (excello Quake Manager and Player)
Marcel 'doz3r' von Thomsen (TDM-Player for Team Germany)
Richard 'noctis' Gansterer (Quake-Player)
Is sticking with 4v4 TDM the right choice for the upcoming EMS season?

peolan just released a new version of his demo player for Quake Live. Its a Firefox extensions that adds a comfortable demo menu to the QL home page. New features include demo sorting, search and playlists.
* Revamped functionality, should now always auto-detect your demo folder (unless you have it in some directory that you shouldn't have) ;-)
* New GUI! The new GUI is integrated into the very website in a more fashionable way, making it less obtrusive and way more user friendly. You now find it in the yellow menu in your top right corner of the website, named "Demo Player"
* Limited support for old-style formatting of demos, it'll identify Duels but any other mode is impossible (will show up as 'Unknown') - The date, map and player(s) should work though!
* Playlist - You can now queue up all your favorite demos, set them in any order you like and press the launch button, QLDP will generate a CFG for you (and launch it of course)
* A live search filter - You can now filter your demos with a free search textfield, it'll filter all or a specified column
* Sorting - You can now sort your demos by type, (first) player, map and date respectively!
* With the new backend, abnormaly large demo archives can be handled with ease, it's been tested with archives of over 3300 demos and works wonderful!
* Experimental Prism support (not tested)
# Jump to Page - You can enter any page number in the small input box in the table footer and jump directly to that page
# It executes your demo.cfg by default (overridable), it also adds com_cameramode 1
# In-game, you can switch demos by typing 'vstr next-demo' or 'vstr prev-demo' - bind these for comfortable playback!
# You can access your old playlist files in your home/baseq3/qldp-playlists/ directory
# You can change your path to the demo folder manually in Preferences for the extension (under 'Tools' -> 'Addons')
disclaimer: all the stupid talk about gtv in the past annoyed me a lot but what was said on lo3 made me write this)
first of all, just because gtv is available, doesnt mean every tournament needs to use it. if they dont want to, they can still do stream only. if they dont have the resources to do a proper stream, then tournaments can just use gtv and still make a lot of viewers happy. and even better, they can also do both...
there are a lot of benefits thats could come with an advanced ql gtv. (besides the obv ones like better quality, better customization, chat, etc) we arent talking about q3 gtv, we are talking about the concept of gtv and the feature list is open. ql gtv doesnt need to have any of the problems q3 gtv had, missing files being an obvious example.
for example there could be a tab besides online and practice that has a list of gtv servers. this would catch users that dont inform themself about upcoming tournaments on some external sites. ppl could just tune in if they feel like it.
gtv could directly generate money if id wants to. something like 2€/month for gtv, 4€ for private server and 5€ for both. and part of the money could come back to the ppl who organize the tournaments that catch most viewers. the ingame ads could also be under the control of gtv.
i also dont really see a problem with shoutcasting. sure, we need more features than q3 gtv had to make it useful. but it cant be so hard to have a command that lets you follow the casters pov and sync the audio. also if ppl dont want the shoutcast they could just turn it off while still having ingame sounds
go gtv! or what am i missing?

fragster.de interviewed Alessandro "stermy" Avallone, who is best known for his success in Quake 4 and in FIFA at the CGS events, but was also just recently invited for the ESL TV Invitational Quake Live tournament. Konstantin "swine" Bös sat down with the Italian and spoke with him about the ESL TV tournament, his preparations for QuakeCon, Quake Live in general and of course the stermy lessons.
Are you confident about the QuakeCon rule set and map pool?
stermy: I personally wanted to see a fifty-fifty balance between new and old maps. I would have preferred to have for example, two great new maps and two old and legendary maps like dm6 and ztn. Or Even a five maps map pool would have been ok. But I'm not sure how the seven maps format will work out.
The Interview is available in english and in german.

Nicky “BlaD3” Deleij (team manager), 21.
AKA bld is mostly known for his supportive role in defense. His main strengths are improvisation and diversity. His main focus is to keep the stream of enemies to the home base under control and support the flag carrier where it’s needed to safely capture the flag.
Niels “sol4r” Zanen (squad leader), 22.
The supportive attacker of the team. With sharp aim and being able to read situations that occur on the map at a fast pace, he can easily bring peace and control in a hectic situation. He’s not afraid to take the bullet for a teammate so that the job gets done.
calipt - Benjamin “calipt” Jakob (CTF/TDM player and dueler), 20.
Considered to be one of the more noticeable players in our team by the community for his fast flag runs and unusual, but calm way of handling himself in stressful situations during matches. He’s a solid player in offense and is usually the most favorable player to pull off tricky power up runs in impossible situations when it’s really needed.
Alberto “exp” Castelli (CTF/TDM player), 22.
One of the new players to involve himself in CTF for our team. He’s been proving us why he deserves a spot on the team for several weeks already and is already starting to be a nightmare for incoming enemy attackers that try to take his flag. His solid aim and well thought out positioning will turn out to be a key factor in our matches.
Michael “xtro” Vox (CTF/TDM player), 22.
Our most recent addition. After making a good impression in the Quake 3 days we decided to let him show his skills in a more dynamic coordinated CTF team. He has shown us that he knows how to be a real pain for opposing teams by timing and coordinating well stacked attacks to bring the flags home in a periodically fashion.
The focus of YYT is not only on team modes, the german player Benjamin “calipt” Jakob, who has been invited to compete in the Razer & ESL Invitational, will be representing the clan in the 1v1 scene. Therefore he will also participate at the QL Dreamhack duel tournament in August.
Only one day after nfinity eSports announced that Pär "fazz" Söderman joined their organization, Team Excello was able to get the final hold on him. He will now be able to head off to QuakeCon 2009 alongside his team partner madix.
Since fazz decided to join us at nfinity eSports, we decided together that we wouldnt send him, since there was no use in it. But Fazz got contacted by excello and changed his mind into going to Quakecon, that's why he's now leaving our squad, since we have no intentions sending a player not enough warm in his clothing yet. We wish fazz and excello best of luck in Quakecon and future events!
I am very pleased to have such amazing talent added to our current roster and I am looking forward to competiting with these individuals and watching them play in up -coming events.
The Excello also made two additions to their TDM Squad:
- Ove "Dibbe" Zetterström, who played on Team Sweden when they won the ClanBase Aationscup in 2006 and has acquired several high place finishes in the ClanBase eurocup with [FOE]
- Karl "fooKi" Johansson will also join Team Excello's Quake Live team as an inactive backup-player to participate in future TDM events.
Yes, test your psychic quake ability and see if you can guess the first frag and how it happens! the closest person to the truth will be the winner.
Example answers:
contestant 1: Noctis kills weird with a machine gun!
contestant 2: Noctis kills weird with a machine gun at Red armor
contestant 3: Noctis kills weird with a machine gun at Red armor around the 2 minutes 10 second mark
contestant 4: Noctis kills weird with a fish! A dangerous new weapon thats never before seen in quake! but will surely be hotfixed in before the match proceeds...
Now, Had noctis killed weird with a machine gun over at Red armour around the 2 minutes 10 second mark contestants 1,2 and 3 would all be correct, but the one who went into the most detail, making his guess more unlikely but more precised. will be the winner. So contestant number 3 wins! So if you want to break away from the crowd, give us as much info as you can! But of course your more than welcome to play it safe. Contestant number 4. wins nothing
During the show there will be one Razer trivia Question. The first person who can answer this question correctly will be the winner! oooOOoo speed round!
Yes, If you are winning the cbooky ladder or think you know your Progamers. Try and guess all the winners of each of the 3 matches correctly. If your lucky or smart enough to get all right, your be in with a chance to win one of Razers new gaming mice.
link1n had to drop out of the ESL Invitational because of problems with his work.
So PURRI and madix, who both lost their qualification game last monday, got a second chance.
PURRI dropped t4 and chose t7, madix dropped dm13 and chose dm6
Cristian "dk" Torrents – Formerly of mTw, 4K, dignitas and aAa, fame, he is also a longtime member of the German Quake 3 national team.

Update: Following the communities wishes, the ESL changed the CTF Tournament format to 4v4
Today, the ESL announced their three QL Summer League Tournaments. There will be 4v4 TDM, 4v4 pro-TDM and 5v5 CTF competitions.
The ESL will be using their private QL server with the new competitive feature set, including Timeout, Team-Lock and Referees. Prizes will be Premuim acount and a special award.
The signups end on the 25th of July. and the Cups will start on the 27th of July. The mappool is still open for changes and will be decided by the official polls: TDM Vote - CTF Vote. So vote if you dont want that one leage to single handedly ruin QL TDM forever...
As reported earlier this week, Quake Live was updated this Tuesday. Changes include competitive features for private servers, mouse optimizations, the comeback of old awards and much more.
We have been in the midst of making several substantial changes to QUAKE LIVE that have required a lot of time and testing. For a while this has prevented us from making any large code updates, but we're happy to finally begin bringing you some of the additions and updates that we have been working towards. Included in today's update is a streamlined account registration and plug-in installation process, dozens of long lost awards, competition features, and spectator / shoutcaster additions.
Select organizations can now launch private servers directly from the QUAKE LIVE website for use in their online leagues and tournaments. These private servers include extensive competition features such as calling timeouts, locking teams, aborting matches and designating match referees. Players may view private servers by going to 'Customize' on their match browser and selecting 'Show Private Matches'. Private servers are passworded, so you will need to contact your league administrators for information on how to participate in their activites and join their private servers.
* Competition features (calling timeouts, locking teams, referees) available in private servers
* Wood footsteps (present on QZCA3 - Quarantine).
* Raw mouse mode performance optimizations.
* Added cl_mouseSensCap (default 0/disabled) to cap the mouse speed if you are using acceleration. Pass it an equivalent sensitivity with no acceleration value, and the acceleration code will not go beyond that.
* The game can't start right away after a map change, in order to let everyone get in and participate in votes (g_warmupDelay).
* CTF requires 2v2 before starting.
* cg_marks no longer disables cg_shadows.
* handicap in instagib is now disabled.
* r_subdivisions limited to either 4 or 80.
* Flag capture time is reported with milliseconds.
* Flag items are no longer predicted (fixes ghost pickup sounds).
* pro TDM config MG start ammo at 50
* cg_forceEnemyModel/cg_forceTeamModel now honored while spectating a player
* cg_forceBlueTeamModel/cg_forceRedTeamModel added (For shoutcasters, cmds override cg_forceEnemyModel/cg_forceTeamModel)
* spec command:
spec fc - follow/cycle through flag carriers
spec blue - follow/cycle through blue team
spec red - follow/cycle through red team
(more options on the way)
* cg_followPowerup now supports a value of 2, which will not switch to a lesser power-up if already following a flag carrier
* cg_followKiller issue in Clan Arena fixed
* fixes for several possible flag dupe cases in CTF
* spwin/splose/testgun cmds removed (exploit/griefing)
* callvote VO fixed (vote now/vote passed vo played in unison)
* Bitterman drowning sound added/fixed
Web Changes:
* The plugin upgrade and installation has been revamped, and you should no longer need to restart your browser during an update (some IE issues still being worked out).
* 24 awards are making a comeback and will start being awarded again!
* The match detail tooltips have been revamped, now allowing you to sort the list by each field. In addition it should be easier to toggle "Quitters / Switchers" now.
* All matches in the server browser will now show the country flag and corresponding city name for the location where the server is running.
* Dropdown menus have been added to the top-level navigation bar, allowing easy access to many parts of the site.
* A new option to "Show Private Matches" has been added to the Server Browser "Customize" pane. This option will toggle back and forth between showing only public or only private matches.
* While the player is in-game various features on the website will go into "sleep mode" in order to reduce the amount of resources used. This change is to help certain players who were having problems with the game stuttering while playing due to website activity.
* Created a new prompt system is used for all fatal errors and other cases where info needs to be presented to the player.
* Match tooltips will now show server name, allowing you to see where the server is located from your friends list.
* You can now toggle whether to show chat timestamps in your "Edit My Profile" page
* Added an icon that is now stamped onto matches in a player's profile when they have won a particular game.
* Fixed a number of problems with cvars and binds not being saved or restored. Players should no longer need to use an autoexec.cfg to have their settings persist.
* Fixed a problem that was preventing the "Link to this match" button from working in IE8.
* Fixed a problem where clicking on a model icon on your friends list would take you to an undefined profile.
* Fixed a problem where the player could be stuck on the "Quake Live is Loading" screen when an error occurs during the initial site load.
* Fixed a problem where many pages were missing page titles.
kuh3liga opened the signups for their first Quake Live 4v4 TDM Cup. The Deadline for signing up is the 25th July.
As usual the Competition will be splitted into different Divisions. The Matches will be played on pro TDM servers, the mappool consists of qzdm6, qzdm7, qzdm14, qzdm20.
Konstantin "swine" Bös interviewed Dignitas player Gareth "GaRpY" Marshall over at fragster.de.
Read the full interview and find out what he has to say about the EPS UK Playoffs, Upcoming Quake Live Tournaments and other things. Here the snippet:
Weren't you a bit surprised that you've beaten ddk and HELL, the UK scene's favourites?
GaRpY: Well, I was a bit surprised beating HELL, but I knew deep down that if I played my game and didn't get too mad and stayed calm I could beat ddk. HELL, on the other hand, was fifty-fifty, we practise a lot together and he knows I can beat him and he can beat me. But it was great to have an all dignitas final and to let the pressure off.

Yeah, im 10 years late, but i watched it for the first time yesterday and what i saw was total shit. why was this film hyped so much?
the whole realistic amateur camera style might be cool, but its also annoying and exhausting to watch. during the whole movie i was annoyed by the characters, why are they so stupid? felt no horror atmosphere cause i was always thinking "why are they doing that?". and the ending... just wtf.
2/10
Gravitas Gaming adds DKT and sparks to their new Quake Live Roster.
Brian "DKT" Flander has been a part of eSports for as long as many can remember. DKT is not only famous for his championships as a UT player, he's been a part of multiple successful Counter-Strike teams such as zEx and TSG as well as having his own cloth mousepad - the well-known DKT Pad. In addition to being a top player in multiple games, he was the general manager of the Chicago Chimera franchise, who won the CGS (DirecTV's Championship Gaming Series) Season 1 championship.
Hailing from Canada, Justin "sparks" Sparks recently participated in the Quake Live Canada versus USA shootout match where the underdogs of Canada surprised the powerhouse USA team in a 2-1 victory. Sparks is one of Canada's top Quake talents and looks to dominate the North American Quake scene with the recent official release of Quake Live.
421 Players competed in the Clanbase Quake Live Duel Cup in 9 Leagues with 8 gropus each. Now the 2 best player of each group enter the according playoff.
since the last update, the jumppads are displayed in high quality even with high picmip settings. i didnt know it was possible to make map parts unaffected by picmip. ( nomip in cpma cant do things like that, right?)
although i like this change, this needs to be tweaked.
the fog on the new maps and these lights on maps like t7 look really annoying with high picmip, sothere should be a command to chose wich parts shouldnt be touched by picmip. so basicly an advanced nomip...
Paper cuts can cause surprisingly acute pain since they usually stimulate a large number of skin surface pain receptors (nociceptors) in a very small area of the skin. Because the shallow cut does not bleed very much, the pain receptors are left open to the air, ensuring continued pain.
i got one under the nail of my ndex finger. hurts when i put pressure on it = cant strafe right :(

The last week of id software's campaign "6 Maps in 6 Week" brings us the map Quarantine, which was originally designed for Clan Arena but is also suitable for TDM, 1v1 and FFA. Read the official release announcement for more information:
For week 6 of our campaign we're very excited to deliver "Quarantine," another totally new arena created by resident designer Yan 'Method' Ostretsov - author of our week two CTF arena 'Siberia' as well as other popular CA maps 'Trinity' and 'Asylum'. Quarantine was originally designed specifically for Clan Arena and features 3 primary "zones," surrounding and connected in multiple ways to an area of higher ground in the center. This architecturally and artistically distinct arena is medium sized and most suitable for 2-10 players in Clan Arena, Team Deathmatch, Duel, and Free for All. For team deathmatch, the teleporters have been blocked and power-ups added to better promote the strategy and style of TDM play.
We hope you are enjoying all of the arenas that we've released over the past six weeks, and we look forward to bringing you more in the future.
i want to use my wireless logitec gamepad to control some basic functions of my pc, like mute, volume control, shutdown, etc
as many keyboards have these extra function keys (that work without drivers), i figured it should be possible, google didnt really help me though. any ideas?
With relative small QL CTF maps such as Troubled Waters, The Stronghold, Courtyard Conundrums and IronWorks, which format do you think would suit best for online tournaments? 5v5 or 4v4
Edited by Nukm at 15:54 CDT, 14 June 2009 - 57001 Hits
The 5th week of id software's campaign "6 Maps in 6 Week" brings us yet another ctf map. Here is official release announcement that covers Courtyard Conundrums background and information about the next map:
For week 5 we bring you "Courtyard Conundrum," another classic CTF arena from the earliest days of Threewave and our friends "Casey" and "Zoid." Like Bloodlust, Courtyard Conundrum was originally created and released in 2000 as part of a 3-pack of CTF maps for the original QUAKE III Arena. This arena has been a long-time favorite, and is a welcomed addition to the QUAKE LIVE CTF arena rotation. Courtyard Conundrum provides a nice combination of larger open bases and tighter connecting areas, and is most often played with 8-12 players.
We've almost reached the end of this 6 map run, but stay tuned next week as we debut a totally new map for Clan Arena.
The currend standard 1v1 mappool consist of qzdm6, qzdm13, qztourney4, qztourney6, qztourney7.
Now that ZTN got released, the question is how to update it.

pixelatedgeek.com Video-interviewed Fatal1ty during this years E3. Fatal1ty interviews are usually full of self promotion and easy questions, this one is a bit different, heres a transcript snippet:
PG: So, in spite of all of your amazing achievements, it seems like people in the gaming industry – both players and professionals alike – think that you’re a douchebag. How do you feel about that?
Fatal1ty: I don’t uh – I think that’s totally uh, bullcrap. Huh huh.
i got annoyed by the lack of decent changelog for gameplay decision/changed to q3. so i decided to go through the ql site news and copy out the gameplay changes. here it is:
04-16-2009: *Clan Arena servers are now set to 200 health, 100 armor, no falling damage
03-11-2009: --Change - Nailgun - nails now bounce (about 60% of the nails shot bounce once).
02-20-2009: --The rocket launcher splash damage has been increased very slightly since the last update lowered it. Thanks for the feedback - hopefully we've found a happy middle between where it was originally and where we put it in the last update.
--Changes to balance (nerf) the Scout rune. It now has an accelerated armor decay rate (double the rate) and decays to 50 armor instead of the normal 100.
02-12-2009: --Slightly reduced the damage that rocket splash damage does. We've received a lot of player feedback on this topic, so please give it a shot. We feel it does help balance the rocket a bit better.
--Initial spawn points are now working properly in all arenas. Basically, the initial spawn points for players will now be restricted to specific locations that are more optimally positioned for the start of the match.
12-19-2008: --We've changed the timing of the railgun shaft and hit effect to more accurately represent your rail gun shots. This doesn't in any way change the network code, our anti-lag code, player movement, or the actual timings of firing and hitting (between client and server). It is simply intended to help what you see on screen be a more accurate representation of hits/misses when using the railgun. We've enabled this by default, but if you would like to disable it, it is set in the console through the following cvar: cg_predictLocalRailShots (1=on/default, 0=off).
09-26-2008: --Clan Arena - You now start with 200 Health and 200 Armor. Self damage only reduces your armor while you have it.
09-19-2008: -Modified Scout - The scout has been the weakest of the "Team Arena" power-ups/runes. In this update, the Scout still increases your speed and rate of fire, as well as silences your footsteps, but now also prevents self-inflicted splash damage (much like Clan Arena behavior). The result is that you can now rocket jump without damage to your health (still reduces your armor).
-Modified Guard - A player with guard was too difficult to kill when also carrying armor. Previously Guard would reduce damage done to you by half, and then apply that damage to armor and health at a specified ratio. With this change, full damage is done to your armor (at a specific ratio), and then the remaining damage to your health is reduced by half. If a player with guard isn't equipped with armor, damage to your health is simply reduced by half.
-Tweaked anti-lag very slightly in attempt to reduce the frequency of players feeling like they shoot behind a player but still hit them (particularly using the railgun).
09-17-2008: --We'd like to test a small change to the Lightning Gun. Most of you probably would not even notice the change if we did not post it, and some of you won't like any change at all, but the intent is just to balance it against the other weapons a little bit better. Here is the specific change for those interested. Most recently the LG did 7 points of damage per cell at close range (the first 1/3 the distance it shoots), and 6 points of damage per cell at mid to far range (the last 2/3 of the distance it shoots). The tweaked settings are: 7 points of damage at close range (first 1/3), 6 points at mid-range (second 1/3), and 5 points at far range (last 1/3). This is still a beta, so please give it an honest shot (particularly in a few CA and CTF games) and post constructive feedback and comments here. Thanks.
09-05-2008: "Team Arena Power-Ups" / Runes in some CTF maps (Doubler, Guard, Scout, Armor Regen) - We'd like some help testing a different behavior for the runes. We've changed the behavior so that although Runes are still currently team-based (i.e. each team has a set that only that team can pick up), they now act more like weapons, in that they will re-spawn after 20 seconds regardless of whether or not someone on your team already has it. This basically means that everyone on each team (regardless of size) can have the rune of their choosing at almost any time. The test is if more casual players enjoy the variation of gameplay and that more advanced or well organized teams enjoy the addtional strategy.
**Note: We understand that a number of you do not like the runes in general or would prefer to have non-rune versions of maps that have runes. This is a BETA. We're trying different things and appreciate real feedback on what we're making available at any given time.
08-27-2008: New "CTF Power-Up/Rune" functionality. If you're not familiar with these, there are 4 power-ups that you'll find in a number of the CTF arenas - they look like an A, G, D, and S, and award you enhanced abilities in particular areas until you are fragged. Each team has a set of runes. We've changed these a bit to balance their effectiveness against each other and also balance their strategic use. The current functionality is:
G = Guard - Reduces the damage that you take
D = Doubler - Doubles the damage that your weapons cause
A = Armor Regen - Regenerates your armor up to a maximum of 100
S = Scout - Increases your movement and firing speed and eliminates your running footsteps.
06-25-2008: +Change - Lightning gun damage is now slightly less the further you are from the person hitting you with it.
+Change - A "cripple effect" that would cause you to lose your footing when hit with the lightning gun has been removed.
+Change - Increased Lightning gun victim "knockback" slightly (the distance you are pushed when weapon fire hits you)
+Change - Increased plasma gun victim "knockback" slightly
+Change - Increased plasma gun self-knockback slightly (facilitating a greater "Plasma Climbing" ability)
+Change - Increased Grenade knockback
+Change - Decreased knockback when other player's rockets hit you

The third week of id software's campaign "6 Maps in 6 Week" brings us another ctf map. Here is official release announcement that covers Bloodlusts background and information about the next map:
In 1999, id Software contracted two young developers, Michael "Casey" Goodhead and Dave "Zoid" Kirsch (known collectively as "Threewave" to create 3 Capture the Flag arenas for QUAKE III Arena. The first in this 3-pack was called Bloodlust - and now the source from which we bring you our week 3 release. In revisiting this map over the last couple of months, the team here decided to make some renovations before releasing it in QUAKE LIVE, and we're very happy with the additions, changes, and polish we've been able to contribute. Bloodlust is perfectly suited for 8 to 10 players and rewards teamwork.
Our long-time friend Casey continues to bring his talents to the game industry as the Game Design Director at Threewave Software.
Although we've now released back-to-back CTF arenas, next week's release will certainly quench the thirst of our Duelers. Stay tuned.

there are so many good ru,cz,lt,xx players out there and a lot of stuff is going on. for example ,Guard just posted a link to this. what an awesome tourney with players like clr, cypher, jibo, ash, k1llmaster, ...
why havent i heard of this before? why is their no english coverage? and this is not a one time thing, its always like this.
and i dont get it. when organizers from germany do a cup, like the spontangame cups, there is always an international newspost and everyone can sign-up. that goes for for almost every cup from central europe.
a similar matter is interviews ,community news, etc. 2 examples: the fragster.de and derquaker.com both have a primarily german userbase, but still every interview got translated and posted on esr.
enough ranting. i wanna know what the problem is. language? ping? nationalism? open up ffs

dont want to flame, but...
2 month ago ql has gone open beta.
lets take a look at the changelog:
- removed some awards
- removed leaderboard
- tuned the match making a bit
- renewed the "duel detective"
- small map fixes
- added old maps that nobody plays
- balanced ca
- added server locations
- fixed some bugs
as i really really hope, this isnt all that they did in 2month, i ask myself, what they are actually working on? this would motivate/interest a lot of people (including me) and would get them some feedback on what ppl are most interested in.
is there any reason for id not to keep the community informed about what they are planning?

so pokerstrategy gave me 50 bucks again and i decided to fool around with it a bit.
decided to play some sit and go. i dont really like the usual (online) nl cash games and have played a lot imit in the past.
shame is, i only got the money on mansionpoker and they have 20% rake in the lower limits, wtf?! since my bankroll doesnt allow me to play 5$ sng, i guess i have to live with it for a while. whats the rake for lower limit sng in other poker portals?
anyway, read a lot off stuff today and i hope my game will improve fast so i can feel confident playing more tables. although i guess i should play more and get the basics down instead of reading all day long.

The german esport site Fragster.de had the chance to talk to the AGP Tour CEO, Jarod 'Streetrunner' Reisin. The short interview mostly covers the closed beta AGP Tour site www.agptour.com, but also reveals other interesting information:
Jarod: Details on the upcoming tour I can give are small. I can tell you one thing: We plan on using Quake Live only.

so magic.zubich got caught cheating in the nc and basicly noone disagreed with that. he is banned from all qqc cups, but thats it?
he is still in his old clan, still doing tournament...
afaik he didnt even give some kind of statement to the community.
how did the ru community react to all this? did he write some kind of apology/explanation on a russian site?
