Sunday at 08:00 CDT is the first
FACEIT Quake Live Sunday Cup , and we are really excited for it! Yesterday we held a cup with around 32 players, of which a lot were Quakers. We found some small bugs, but overall the platform ran as we hoped.
We are looking to launch the platform Saturday evening, so everyone who wants to attend can sign-up then. I'll update this post once the site is up!
What I can already tell you is the definitive map pool we will use for this Sunday Cup. Please note that we might change it for the upcoming editions.

Format: First rounds will be Best-of-One, Quarter Finals and Semi Finals will be Best-of-Three, and the Grand Final will be Best-of-Five.
Admittedly, the tournament started off a bit hectic, with the platform going down a few times and it not working accordingly in the first stages of the tournament. Having said that, let's get over to the actual games played.
Several top names such as strenx, pavel, guard, agent and twister signed up for the first FACEIT Sunday Cup. All came through the initial rounds unscathed, bar twister, who was unfortunately matched up against Reaper in the first round. A mistake from our side.
All the top players made in to the quarter finals without too much problems. Here the Best-of-3 matches were going to kick off. Strenx was to face off against crims, who was the surprise package of the tournament, while the other match ups were baksteen versus Guard, Pawelek versus pavel and agent versus Reaper.
As you would expect, strenx, guard and pavel all went through, but in arguably the closest quarter final, Reaper managed to beat agent to head into the semi finals. In the semi finals, the Ukrainian faced pavel, but he could not replicate his form, and lost with two to nill. Over on the other side, strenx, facing Guard, managed to win his match as well, making the grand final a fight between Russia's pavel and Zotac legend strenx.
The Frenchman started of well, winning Aerowalk with 20-13. However, on map two, pavel managed to draw things up with a 9-7 win on dm13. This led to a dip in concentration and the good ol' rage by strenx, as pavel racked up another win on Toxicity, taking the map with 9-7 again. The final map, ztn, which was pavel's choice, was again won by pavel, this time by the comfortable margin of 8-0.
This means pavel goes into the Quake history books as first ever FACEIT Sunday Cup winner, taking 100$ for his efforts. We at FACEIT thought this was a shining start, bar a few problems here and there, of which we have learned valuable lessons, of a bright future.
