Hey gerppa, you just missed out on 1st place to 4k, what are your thoughts on how the season went for you and xt?
gerppa: I think the season went just as I expected. Before the start of the season I sort of knew we will end up 2nd without too much of trouble, but I was happy to be proven wrong on that by aCtion and elite killers aswell as close games versus couple other teams that are newer and upcoming. I'm just happy myself I got to play more than I did on previous seasons, yet not too happy about my performance considering how much practising I have put into TDM.
You were a key player in xt this season. What are the styles of you and your team mates, and do you think they compliment each other well?
gerppa: That's a hard one. Everyone seems to have different views of my playstyle, one says I'm really defensive player, the other goes for offensive. I see myself more as a all-round support player and playing adapting to enemies playstyle rather than keeping my own “style” versus everyone.
So sometimes I end up taking all the items and powerups, some opponents I feel its more worth to share them and play more passive, it all depends who you are playing.
Our secret of success is all about teamplay, everyone have their specific jobs and we try to keep people on positions where their best abilities shine.
It mostly is something like this:
provi – aggressive player dealing damage without much stack
frs – good communicator and ingame leader, plays all-round depending what is needed
damiah – heavily aimbased player who plays defensively and secures key-areas
wit – all-round player, great with a railgun, plays position-based with damiah most of the time
For those new aspiring players, what are the best tips you would give them about playing in a TDM team?
gerppa: I can't stress enough to watch more and more demos. Get in touch with the players and ask them for demos, most of us are willing to share them and help to improve. Try to gather different style of players demos to see the difference on playstyle and think about what will fit you the most, and to see how they act as a part of team on their individual roles. You should also try to find yourself a team of 4-6 to play practises and try to work out with your players which playstyle fits best for your team.
Are you excited/going to DH? And if so, what team will you be playing with?
gerppa: I'm excited to see how many teams will actually be going, as of now it seems like there will be less teams than DHS this year. I'm most likely going with xentorium, though we have a problem having 5 players wanting to go so we will see what is our final decision. Hope to be there this time again for some nice TDM action!
Were you surprised at all by the talent and competition in hoqleagues?
gerppa: Not really, the league went just as I thought it would go. Hopefully we can get more teams up there to compete with in the next season.
Thanks for the interview. Any shout outs or cliché’s you'd like to exclaim?
gerppa: Shoutouts to everyone in #xentorium, #ensammaonanister and my current CTF-teammates hazrd, q50, winz and linkin.
