Tell us a little bit about yourself, your background, interests, etc.?
Are you self-taught or have you taken formal classes on editing?
What software do you use?
When starting a project, what is your approach like? Do you have a specific workflow?
What has inspired you in your work? Are there specific movies or moviemakers that changed the way you approach your own work?
Which of your own projects are you most proud of? Which do you think were most instrumental in your development as a moviemaker?
There is a range of game movies in terms of editing styles and structure. Some you could call some "old school" (minimal editing) and then there are very elaborate projects with significant amounts of editing. Where do you think your movies fall? In your opinion, is there an ideal balance between editing and content?
What do you think the future holds for game movies? Are there new styles/techniques possible?
What advice do you have for new moviemakers?
Any last comments/shoutouts?

Hi everyone, my name is Gerardo, 36 yo and I’m a Financial Officer in Madrid Spain. I’ve been playing Quake since 1998 where I fell in love with Q2 CTF, I kept playing CTF in Q3, Q4 and QL using different nicks but mainly as Kalimist (between 2004-2012) and Lokario for many years. I also played TDM, RA3 and Defrag.
Are you self-taught or have you taken formal classes on editing?
Self-taught, my editing skills are poor :D
What software do you use?
Wolfcam and Vegas.
When starting a project, what is your approach like? Do you have a specific workflow?
I don’t like 3rd person cams and slowmo in fragmovies, so I just focus on syncing good music with good frags.
What has inspired you in your work? Are there specific movies or moviemakers that changed the way you approach your own work?
I became interested in fragmovies when I saw Tribulation and The Badge series back in 2000. I’ve seen hundreds of movies and enjoyed most of them. KOS movies are my favorites.

My main work is Pacus Maximus but it’s kinda unfinished because my computer couldn’t handle a longer movie. I’m proud of my movies because my goal was to remember the good moments I had playing the best game ever.

My movies are old school. I would like to do a different project but I don’t have enough editing skills.

With all the current streamings and clips, the art of moviemaking is almost disappearing. I hope that QC gets better and they add demos and other tools so we can see more Quake fragmovies in the future. We still see some new good fragmovies of different games now and then.
What advice do you have for new moviemakers?
Don’t try to copy someone’s style, just do what you like and use the music and frags/runs you like.
