"Just Play" Painkiller Duel Cup is targeted for North American players, but is open to anyone who is willing to deal with the ping.

I've really enjoyed Painkiller and never got a chance to play in any duel cups or tournaments. I've recently started hosting a couple of servers and I decided to host a PK duel cup. I know the netcode isn't the best, but for those who are still willing to play, then check out the "Just Play" cup page on tourney.cc.

There is also a free version of Painkiller (mplay only) if you are interested but do not own the full version of the game, all of which is linked on the cup page.


Update: Congrats to Hungary Andy for his impressive win! Andy had 160 ping and still played, was awesome having what is left of the PK community playing. GG to his opponent United States of America Chiefin.

The 111th ZOTAC QL Duel Cup is taking place this Sunday 27th of November. Last week, France strenx earned his 40th ZOTAC after defeating Russia Cooller in 4 maps (map1, map2, map3, map4).

Most of the pros will be coming back from DreamHack Winter 2011, and the cup should be more open than usual!

Shortly before leaving for Sweden, Germany moppz from derQuaker interviewed United Kingdom Disrepute and United Kingdom nVc from Level Up TV about DreamHack Winter 2011 and their streaming business.

Here is a small snippet:
moppz: "How do split your work at Level Up? Nvc ist the guy with knowledge and disrepute is the guy that gets all the girls?"

nVc: "That’s a suprisingly difficult question for all the wrong reasons. We are only as active as the game we cover, and unfortunately Quake Live hasn’t been (and isn’t) in the greatest shape."

Disrepute: "It is split pretty equally. I do all the online streams and nvc does a perfectly equal amount of nothing. So it is a pretty good balance. Sometimes nvc does a little more nothing than I do something and he rightly tells me off for this. Trance then comes in and calms the kids down, and we live happily ever after. Then I get all the girls xxxxxxxxx"

With less than 1 day left before the DreamHack Winter 2011 Quake Live tournaments start we unfortunately had no choice but to remake the schedule and groups based on circumstances we couldn't ignore.

One team dropped out of the TDM tournament: Sweden nEuCtion. Portugal Insan3 couldn't make it to DreamHack either because of the Portuguese air companies went out on a strike today. Which leaves Australia / Portugal Aus Portugal with 3 players, but I'm crossing my fingers for that they sort it out when getting here. Our plan is that Netherlands draven can take his place, but unfortunately I haven't been able to get in contact with him to confirm.

With that being said we're going to delay the start of the TDM tournament with a few hours, note that we also changed the order the groups will play in. This will also allow us to free up some time to cover even more duel games!


With the dropout of Sweden nEuCtion we had to redo group B since it left Europe Kittylovers alone in their group. We swapped out Italy Senzabraccia to group B.

The source code for Doom 3 (id Tech 4) has been released today. John Carmack has talked about releasing it at this years QuakeCon, honoring the long time id Sofware tradition of open-sourcing their games, dating back to Quake 1. There was some delay in the release, due to id Software not being able to include a patented algorithm known as Carmack's Reverse.
This release has many positive implications for the modding communities based around id Tech 4 games, including that of Quake 4, and for those who simply want to satisfy their own curiosity.

With DreamHack Winter 2011 just around the corner it's time to wrap all the infos and get it out there. There's been some switching around with line ups and unfortunate drop outs but we've managed to sort it out nicely so far.

Belarus Amai was unable to go because of visa issues. Since he qualified through the second ZOTAC qualifier it's natural for us to pick the follow up from the same qualifier: Germany twister. A few members of Russia deliberate murder had trouble on going as well, but their captain Russia cooke still managed to get a hold of a few other players. Check their updated line up below.

If the amount of teams change drastically before the event we will redo the seedings and groups.

Hello everyone, 21th November is here so we can start 2v2 cpm advent cup. On tournament page we have 13 teams signed up and we can expect some really good matches. We will try to stream as many as possible on Level Up TV with United Kingdom nvc, Iraq drex and Germany nekon as shoutcasters. Also there will be GTV available.

Because cup is starting tomorrow you can begin scheduling your matches now according to brackets. When scheduled, pm admin date and time of your match so we can set up GTV and stream. Deadline for 1st and 2nd round is 27th November. The last 5th map in the map pool will be double RA & double powerup madness !cpm17tp. GL&HF to all.
