tbh a better way of deciding if a map is good is to play 1 game on it and depending on the outcome, say its good or bad

too bad id doesnt run a sort of 'halloween' cup (make it regional i guess - NA, EU, AU/NZ, SA and perhaps even ZA) or something for the new maps where all participants get something like a halloween skin (basically hats) and the winners get an award or something. of course it would be nice to have cashmoney but that aint gonna happen :)

Despite some silly popularity battles, plusses is primarily about highlighting the content. Those who follow the site know the active users anyways, and those who don't are likely oblivious to the whole thing.

I played some games on windsong keep, and I find it a dreadful duel map. It's as +backy as it gets! A game on this is guaranteed to leave you depressed, win or lose.

Silence of course has been established as a viable and good duel map.

Sinister might work.. it's a bit large though. I feel like some of the small corridors would allow too much defense. This one is imo, the most worth testing of the group since we already know silence is good.

Terminatria.. hmm. Feels like Almost Lost for some reason. Like it can be played in a duel, but it's a bit too spacious? I can't put my finger on it. It will be interesting to see it played.

I'm pretty sure you wont find it large if you play it a bit more. It's really just that the vertical scale makes it feel more complex than it is.

Having played it I still think it's a bit large.

The 60 second rail timing that rings a bell when you pick it up is interesting.

after a few games I found the scores of me and my opponents into the higher teens :)

it feels like dm13 where you can be ultra aggressive or ultra defensive

Sinister seems alright! I played it once last night and even though neither me or my oppo (I don't think!) knew the map it felt ok! Hope this gets a good response the more the better!! Hopefully I'll be avi for once!

Excellent. I wrote Wednesday in the first version of the op, but then I figured it was better to ask.

I like it because it does not conflict with the sunday cup, and also proposes something interesting mid-week.

Ye, other cups are in the weekend when i have a SOCIAL LIFE? :D

At some point mid-week would be cool, would love for one of the maps in the most recent update to make it to some competitive pools.

sinister needs changes, ya instead of ga, some teles from bottom level to upper leve, another rl in ra room, etc

This is precisely the goal of the tournament. I think we should all really do an effort in testing the map. If things are how I hope, then we might end up with at least another very good map for the pool, possibly with just a few fixes of item placement and so on.

yeh good =) but I'm rather disgusted by sinister already because on the bottom level you're so screwed

you need RJs

you need rl (and health) to execute rjs

rl is at the bottom, there is also health. you can hold the area near ya with only a RL even with lower stack (+back).

yea once you get to YA area and manage to grab a rl and 100hp isn't always enough health to do some rjs

i dont see the point of doing an RJ once you are on the middle tier. Unless you want to steal the RA. But in general i see your concerns. but i'd like to see how this is going to play out after more duels then just 4.

I don't like these changes you proposed. It has enough teles really, and the second RL makes no sense either. YA instead of GA, maybe, but I think it would help the guy in control more, because it's close to the mega, and a jump away from red.

I think it's even a better duel map than Silence.

After one game on it my opinion is that Terminatria is too large for duel. But it's a small sample, I hope others will prove me wrong.

I don't think windsong keep has a chance at being a competitive duel map in a tournament rotation, but I'd love to be proven wrong

I think the layout has potential, but the railgun is holding it back severely. I know that when I played it, the duel usually boiled down to rushing for RG and then peeking and shooting near the doorways - very +backy as Lorfa mentioned. And, now that I think about it, I suppose the RA, MH, and YA on that one side of the map (with a RL no less) give it a bit too much weight as the other side only has the one YA, although I'm not sure how much of a problem this is in real gameplay. If it is, a few item placement swaps could do the trick.

As soon as I am allowed to play again ;D!
