4-4-2 is probably the optimal formation for England, but I do however have good faith in Svennis 4-1-3-1-1 formation and will build my eleven based on it;

Normally I wouldnt even consider Crouch to fit in the English squad, but he's been playing quite good lately and I think his selesteem is on top which is oh so important for a striker.

While discussing the World Cup I might aswell say that I'm a bit concerned about the Swedish squad. Or shall I say some parts of the squad. Like, who's going to play on the defensive right wing? Alexandersson (a midfielder) or Nilsson (who's just horrible in general)? And please let Kim Källström enter the starting eleven god damnit. He's not a child anymore and he would do much much better than both Wilhelmsson and Svensson at the moment.

At least Nilsson PLAYS sideback in his team. Alexandersson hasnt showed any defensive capabilities so far either.

Erm, so your argument is "keep them out of the squad in favour of players who are worse than them, but at least are CONSISTENTLY worse"? Huh?

I guess I know what you're trying to say, but it doesn't make it any less daft. You HAVE to field your best players, or you're just trying to lose. If they're streaky and they ARE playing badly though, you need to have the balls to sub them out: that's something most managers never seem to have learnt. :/

Whereas I would say Beckham is good but I would switch him out for Lennon because of the way Lennon plays which I feel is more beenficial to England than Beckhams crosses every now and again.

You have to play your best team not your best players (Ok so usually that is your best players but thats how I see it)

I'm not a huge beckham fan, but to pull him out now would be a blow to moral of the team as he is captain, and he has been putting in some good long balls, however I dont think this will be as effective vs. teams that give us less time on the ball. Also sven should let lampard / gerrard take more of the free kicks/corners - beckham wastes so many.

I would Pick SWP over lennon as backup to beckham regardless of him not playing many games this season, he has more quality.

Rooney should not be in the squad due to fitness. T. Walcott: absolutley not, he should not be in squad due to lack of experience. Owen is britains best goal scorer to not pick him with rooney out would be suicide.

I dont like crouch, but he is playing well and we are short on decent strikers atm. I think sven should use the option of gerrard as support striker in some situations instead of crouch.

If he is then yeah ahead of Lennon of course. Chelsea just bought SWP so other wouldn't get him to be honest.

Is it it kind of a waste to put Gerrard in a defensive position like that? Cuz really, you need a defensive middle fielder in there, and none of the others measures up to to his abilities. It's a shame to pull him back too far though, he's such a great shooter :).

The way I see it is, set pieces tend to be VERY important in these games, and since Beckham's the best dead-ball player we have...

also Sol Campbell is a joke these days, he makes so many errors every game. Again today he was a liability.

I find it insulting to Carragher he is not considered as our 3rd choice central defender ahead of Sol.

People are being harsh on Owen.

4th top scorer of all time for england and still only 26 !! He always turns it on for the big games at the world cup. I have more confidence in Owen scoring against Brazil, Argentina, Italy etc... people who say crouch should play as a lone striker are laughable!

Yeah, not to mention being the premier leagues top scorer 2 years in a row. (yes I know that was 7 years ago :p).

Lennon does have good pace but he's quite small and can be out muscled quite easily. You have to go with beckham over lennon because he's needed in set pieces. Soon as he starts lagging then take him off.

I saw some englishmen cheering for "svennis" on tv yesterday, its so damn laughable. Three weeks ago they were all bashing the guy, saying how he sucks. Now they say he's really good...I so hate that kind of behaviour :(.
