we don't disapprove of the Quakecon rules, I think their map pool could be more interesting (I believe we need more dueling maps), and picking maps you get to see how good people are on their best maps. but because of short notice, we decided to keep the standard.

Also we moved Tuesday to Monday, because of patch days. This unfortunately means Stermy cant play out the whole tournament, since hell be in America. but were glad hes able to make the show match, will be his first live game so certainly one to watch :)

well, it may be more interesting and i am all for new maps in the pool, but if there are no decent maps, you shouldnt start adding crap one. id should make new duel maps, but instead they make ca3 and claim its for duel, tdm, ca and ffa :(
the geometry of t9 is just boring. there are no interesting fighting spots, didnt enjoy wathing the pros play it and i dont enjoy playing it. - fail
on ca2 its easy to run all the items when your in control and its so big and wide that you can +back and rail for minutes - fail

I watched some casting on justin.tv for that american 1 day tourney. With djwheat I think. It was cool but I hate when they switch povs non stop.

I really like 2GD's casts, in fact i consider him among the few comentators worth listening to, along with some of they guys who cast QW tdm and maybe djwheat.
But no matter how "premium quality" the stream is, there's no fucking way you can compare it to gtv + audio stream.
Also this makes me wonder: is gtv even planned for QL? Did the devs ever mention it or is everyone expecting it just because they're used to it?

I prefer watching a clean HQ stream over that GTV stuff. Where GTV is really nice in terms of spectacting just the 'pure' game with your settings and MVD and stuff, a well casted video stream is always better.

And I just bought a month of premium account for ESL.tv, hence I really hope 2GD is gonna explain the situations and state the mistakes the players make.

dude, think about it. we dont want not offer you demos. but figures = success for an internet tv company. if you want your game to be featured more, and have bigger and more regular tournaments. We need to figures to make that happen. So having ppl watch our stream and come back to rewatch on vod helps. so if you want to help your game, watch the stream. if you dont, whine and complain for gtv + demo's where we cannot get viewing figures and push quakelive futher within esl. since when we approach sponsors with our quakelive figures. they can either be impressed, or they can say hmmmm thats nice. but what about a wow 3v3 arena tournament?

Sounds good. I understand all of the above, but it just doesn't make sense to me to completely block demos of the 2nd (arguably 1st) big Quake Live tournament ever. Demos are what people will look back on in 5 years for this tournament, when the VODs may or may not still exist.

well my in game analysis is from my game style, which is more calculated decissions. and since i still play and duel. and beat alot of good players. I'm happy to give my oppinons on decissions and try to explain what i can when i have chance

I dont mind ppl thinking im bad, I cast like 6 games, never going to please everyone. but from your few comments in this thread, my view on you isnt a high one. but dont take it too serious. im just with the majority

that's why best at theory mostly fail in practice
so let me explain, you might wake up playing a game for 20 years and don't get the logics of it as good as carmac or other guy theoretically good, do
for instance, even if you are way better player than me, I probably see in matches things you don't (re-read my ztn comment if you still don't get it) -yet you feel 'em when you play, because they are in your instinct already

nah, you have to buy 3 month of esl premium account which can be changed into 1 month of esl tv prem if im correct.

depends on the payment method. some payment methods are not economical for us to offer for the price of 1 month. after taking away the costs the actual amount we get at the end is not worth it.

if you prefer we can just triple the price for 1 month so then all payment methods are available :)

Any quality worse than the old youtube standard is not fine IMHO, and the free ESL stream is definitely worse than the old youtube quality.

I don't think so. The old youtube quality was at about 300-400kbits at the Sorenson Spark codec, which is quite outdated nowadays.
