Aye. Something that people seem to overlook or not mention when talking about this. The player lean is still quite noticeable (at least for keel) when someone is just moving around by running and can help show their change in direction. And as far as I know, while it might give a better representation of model to hitbox relationship, it'll do nothing to get rid of the "lagging hitbox" issue. I've tried it at 0 and still landed some wtf, how did that hit shots.
What's kinda funny is they give us all these little things we can turn off/adjust, but I do not believe there's anyway to turn off fallkick. Would rather that be adjustable by cg_kickscale than have cg_playerlean.
It's because the player's model has a specific acceleration. You won't just start with 320 upm of speed when you start to walk. But the leaning of your model is a bit quicker. Therefore it might benefit your prediction aim when turned on. But as you already stated, we're talking about only a few mili seconds here. But again, this wouldn't be ESR if not for these 'minor' cvars ;)
yes, 0 is the best representation
but player lean helps to indicate in which direction the model is moving. its kinda hard to read the dodging of an opponent with cg_playerlean 0
+ it looks ridiculous
Might be a slight bit better to use 0 for the rail and something between 0.5 and 1 for the other weapons if you're more of a flick-click guy than a strafe aimer but it's either 100% in my head or you'd land like 3 more rails out of 372.
As has been said here, the command "cg_showPlayerLean" was added later in q3, and people found it funny when they saw the players running and leaning. Then the players don't lean were formerly in q3. And now in QL, when everyone knew that the players were lean as default, was introduced this new command, "cg_PlayerLean", to turn this off.
My question is: Why in q3 q before when nobody was lean, and this was added in QL now when everyone did, now was added a command to turn it off? All the world like of lean or not? It is better for BPH? At the pro players's CFGs in q3, nobody used it in lan. And now in ql, this fixes the lagging hitbox?
this has nothing to to with the hitbox, so it wont change anything regarding hit detection
it just comes down to preference, to me a slight player lean feels more natural and helps me see what direction a player is going to faster/better. so i use 0.5 (its not just on and off)
i could do without the cmd but i like that fact that its customizable
What was playerlean before update? Was there no playerlean (0 normal) or was there lean and they added 0 so that we can see something about hitbox shit..?
