the cable is the problem.

Got exactly the same problem here for 5 days. g5 and windows7.
In game the mouse disconnect and the lights go off and after 1 or 2 seconds it works again.
and it's not a cable thing because this only happens in quakelive.

is it frekvent for you? does it seem to appear regularly or at random?

It sounds like itīs a mouse cable problem. You can use the guarantee from Logitech tho to get a replacement mouse!

Dunno, doesnt seem to be a cable problem since it only happens in quakelive... i have tried to replicate the problem with moving around the mouse fast in windows, but it doesnt happen.

if you hear that usb sound notification for connected/disconnected device, then its cable,its clipped somewhere. :P

also try using a different usb port

I got another problem
When playing with m_filter 1 and minimizing the game sometimes it will fuck up after you maximize it - it wont register small vertical movements (so it's like m_pitch 0 unless you move your mouse fast)

i know and actually that's the fix i used for fixing COMPLETE stucking vertically, but that bug kinda vanished lately while the one i wrote is still presented and i couldnt fix it no matter what :/

overclocking mouse + QL maybe ...

Ok here is what i know:

1. The cable is not broken

2. The usb port/connector is not broken

3. It only occurs when playing quake live

4. Started ~7 days ago(when was the last ql update btw?)

5. The mouse is kinda old 3 years maybe. But it works fine just not in ql

6. I tried different drivers same thing.

7. My hardware is not overclocked(processor, graphic card, mouse etc.)

It's happened to me to in QL too. It was because I had OCd my mouse and connected it to my keyboard USB hub, not directly to the computer.

try a different in_mouse setting ie -1, 1, or 2 and try in_nograb 0 or 1 depending on what you already have it at

changes in in_ cmds usually need a /in_restart after that, don't forget.

in_nograb fixes the bug when you lose mouse focus and can't get it back in ql.

Problem seem to be solved, changed webbrowser to chrome instead of firefox, in_nograb 1 was previously set to 0. changed dpi settings on mouse. Thnx for your help :)

Are you sure this is not punkbuster lag?
It will freeze your game for a bit under a second sometimes, mostly at the start of joining servers.

No since its not the game itself that freeze only my mousemovement. I have that punkbuster lag aswell when i join a server but this isnt it. But anyway it seems that its gone now :)

Btw how does cl_mouseaccel scale with dpi? I used to have the mouse set at 800 dpi now i use 2000 i divided my sens with 2.5 (2000/800 = 2.5) and also divided my accel with 2.5 but its sick high now so i have reduced it from previously 0.2 to 0.04.. its better but cant realy find something comfortable..

man this same shit happened to at least 2-3 of my G5s. And I never rage-smashed them or pulled the cord excessively. After like 6 months of use it would turn off in the middle of a game, then turn back on a few seconds later. It would happen more frequently as time went on.

It's definitely a flaw I've seen in a few G5s. You'll probably need a new mouse. I haven't had this issue with the G500 yet, but I've only had it for a few months.

Edit: Like a few others said, depending how long ago you got the mouse, you can call Logitech and send it back for a replacement. They probably won't have any G5s in stock and will give you a MX518 or something though.

well thought about testing something different, and since i have a qck
i cant use razer mouse, heard those doesnt work on qck atleast abyssus and deathadder.

70$ for a g9x is a good price atleast here where they usually cost 100+$

But anyway i have ordered a mx518

the da does work ( I'm sure about the old one, dunno about the 3500dpi model ) but it has a crazy lift-off distance ( maybe more than the double of what it is with my ie 3.0 )

I've recently started having the same problem with my beloved G5. I also have never mistreated the mouse and thought it was only a problem with Quake Live since the last update, but when I mess with the cord, it blinks out in Windows and then finds it again. It should be fixable with a soldering iron, but I don't see a way into this sucker. :(
