was about to say im in until i saw the maps. i dont know what maps are usually played in a ffa but imho Chemical Reaction, Dredwerkz, Demon Keep are a joke
i mean come on, two of those maps hava e bfg and all have been played to death...
From my phone so i will keep this short...there is no limit on signups. Current brackets are a sample. If tournament is a success we will organize more. Maps may change, but those 3 are in my eyes true ffa maps. But i was under the impression that pros could disable bfg.
hi guys
this is our first FFa tournament
we will make weekly tourmanets with prizes (this time theres is a intellimouse 3.0 for the first place!!11!!!!1eleven) like zotac etc
we waiting for a new website with a section for players and auto arrange tournaments
hope u have fun www.ffa-clan.com
Rooting to germany is pretty fucked, but i would probably play if the maps got changed.. There are others non prem FFA maps wich are way more playable than those. For a nice first FFA tourney, put nice FFA maps.
I agree, even though the maps listed are great fun for casual play they seem unfit for competitive FFA. dm12 and dm15 have the BFG as mentioned earlier, and dm11 is way too basic and horizantal, not to mention the turkey camping spot.
There definitely should be some premium maps in the rotation. For a 6-map pool this is what I would`ve went for (I have others though), half standard and half premium:
One real FFA map to start with. Followed by a crazy small map that should deliver a lot of fun. In the third round a map that's commonly known among FFA'ers, CA'ers and TDM'ers.
2.4 In each game, those that finished around top 5 will move on to the next round. The exact amount of players that can qualify for the next round is determined by the amount of sign-ups.
I rarely play ffa, but what happens if players 5 - 6 - 7 all have the same frags? Does it determine whose 5th or 6th by the damage they gave or the least damage they took?
"The QL scoreboard is used to determine the final ranking of a game. If 4 players can qualify and you finished 5th while you have the same score as the 4th, then you are eliminated (and unlucky)."
I bet you mean the members of the -FFA- clan with your "ffa pros" :)
I can tell you that noone of us seriously ever thought about winning this tournament, so there wont be any frustration ;)
This was organized to have some fun! I for myself am looking forward to this tourney, although I almost only play BRINK now, but I hope we can spectate some nice matches from the real pros.
Hope someone decides to cast it, would love to watch the final with commentators in stream :P
Edit: Oh, ok. Well, If Tony signed up, he would win for sure, of course!!! ;)
First was moppz, then me (for the first part and ending), then in and between was hopping in k1llsen himself, then some other bloodywarriors members... moppz knows better
yeah we had a lot of guys in teamspeak yesterday.. i was there, zerious, shi2o with some laughin in the background. k1llsen was in teamspeak between the game breaks.. and then we had batou on the server for the last games.. :)
The tournament exceeded my expectations: 109 players, fantastic
We discovered some things we did wrong or could do better, but overall i think it went pretty smooth considering the website was merely a week old, and the chaos that comes with having 100+ players all having to play at the same time in > 10 different games.
Props to Fi for an amazing adminning job. Also complimenting Id, afaik all games were played in Germany! Final thanks to the streamers: bloodwarriors and lvl^, (: happy :)
The sign ups for next weeks event are open. K1llsen won so he got to pick all 7 maps for FFA Tournament #2, but he decided to let Tony pick them out. So the current DM17 x7 is just to lure k1llsen back in, and will change soon.
Some things will change:
- tournament starts @ 20.00, first game starts through /allready on 20.15
- the next tournament is played in FRANCE, not in Germany
- more relevant information will be displayed on the website
- the rules will be made more specific about who goes through in case of equal scores
To all that played: thanks very much and hopefully until next Sunday.
I will attempt to make an announcement on esr once the mapchoices are known.
I don't think France is a great choice (common routing issues even with close neighbours like Germany or the Netherlands)... but meh.
Probs won't even be there to lose the first round with 15 ms anyway so good luck with the cup!
Notable sign ups so far include Dird
