MX518 has very good sensor, but with angle snapping.

If you must stay with this shape which I think you love, take the G400, but watch out! It must be the newest revision, because older revision used ADNS-3080E.

If you want to get best mouse for your preferences you have to tell us what is your sensitivity (in-game, in Windows, DPI) and what is your grip (fingertip, claw or palm).

They're shipped with both S3095 and A3080E. The A3080E's were uploaded with S3095 firmware (800-3600 CPI vs 800-1800)

So basically:
S3095 firmware v1: Angle snapping on
S3095 firmware v2: Angle snapping off.

The numbers are essentially just CPI changes, but there may be some differences in the A3090 for protection purposes or otherwise.

I have g400, unfortunetely older version (with prediction, bought it 6 months ago). Prize for g400 and mx518 is almost the same, so I would suggest you to go for new g400 without sensor prediction. Great mouse, u can feel that awesome logitech quality(rip abyssus...).

People talk about angle snapping as if it's a flaw but it is a feature and it's not something that's going to hurt your game in any way. If you are uncomfortable with it, don't use it; but people act like you'll be unable to move your mouse diagonally.

It's all about personal preferences.

Slight difference when making really small adjustments on recoil in games like CS(S). Imo it benefits more in games with full auto weapons then it does in Quake/UT.

Not so much about diagonal movement imo.

Yeah I think the most important things are:
- consistent speed/feel (ie, no accel)
- max speed
- tracking quality (no jitter)
- lift off distance

Though I can feel when a mouse doesn't have prediction and I definitely prefer it without, but its not a huge deal as the above.

In my opinion accurate flickshots are much easier to do with mouse without prediction/angle snapping/correction.

If you don't know, flickshots are very lucky speed shots (I don't know to call it) and when you move mouse with prediction very fast you can strike opponent only when he is on the line. I'm not sure that I explain it you good.

Personally I can't play on mouse which has prediction. I don't know why, maybe it's only my own perversion. ;)

Nowadays it might be placebo, but it wasn't placebo when alot of players couldn't stand mice like MX500 when they were used to the MS mice at the same time. Nobody knew about anglesnapping, but alot already felt it in a bad way.

Switching to G1 from IE3/WMO I realized it had prediction only when I read it.

Alot, back when I used a Xai, I went to a mates house and he had prediction on on his Xai and I went like WTF is wrong with your xai on his desktop.

Didn't even have to start up a game.

It even surprised me how fast I noticed it.

Where can you definitely get the newer revisions of the G400s for a realistic price?

they are as cheap as it gets already considering the specs.

I got mine from amazon directly(not from another seller there), which should have the highest output and so the highest probability that they re-stocked often enough to only have the newer prediction-free G400's.

Rather than just sit around hoping, I actually emailed all the cheapest sellers and got one who was able to check his has the Logitech sticker. Success, and bought. Eagerly awaiting a shiny new mouse.

Could someone pls explain what angle snapping and prediction is? I have been using mx 510 and mx518 for probably nearly 8 yrs now, just because I was too lazy to try something different...
