yeah, its quite easy. most every hud got it under "obit(s)", just ctrl and change the position

av3k also plays without rails being displayed (cg_railtrailtime 0) which I find pretty odd.

i think toxic used to do that, too (in q3). i remember trying it out for some time after finding seeing it in a config.

It would be interesting to disable the own railtrails, but not the enemy railtrails ;)

No, id decided to remove the cvar.
Trailtime 0 is the only option but that removed every rail.

I guess you can have trailtime 0 binded to your own rail and 200 (or whatever you'd like) to the other weapons. :) Would be my solution at least.

You can have railtrailtime 0 only when firing for example, it is doable.

It has never happened to me. I have used at the same time: change fov, change crosshair, sparks 0/1, marks 0/1, i have even had changed enemymodel - all changes when pushing +att.

Edit: I should say that i dont really play with this. I use my script to change crosshair and fov while firing lg.

Changing railcolors really quickly is what spams the server and potentially causes a kick. Color1 and color2 are a type of user info that the server must keep track of, just like model.

I remember strenx had 1 color for every hit, and 1 beep for all hits, so he really never knew how much damage a rocket would deal when his oponent was out of sight. He didn't seem to care much either when I pointed it out to him.

i play with m_pitch -0.022 since... jedi knight 1. it had the vertical axis inverted as the standard setting. jedi knight was one of the first shooters where you were supposed to aim with your mouse (i actually dont remember how quake 1 handled that). i think the developers just transferred the logic from joystick flight simulators to the concept of mouse aiming, where you go up when you pull the device towards you.

can't understand why he does this. He aimed better with 0 imo.

probably he doesn't know 0 = q3, because when the command was introduced in QL 5 was the default setting (so "5 used to be the current 0") then the default (the good setting) was changed to 0 but it obviously stayed on 5 in configs.

I doubt it. He has been continuously lowering his sensitivity ever since he turned it on from 4.25 to 4 to 3.35. I can understand to an extent why he uses it because it helps you lg better if the opponent can't dodge for shit, But if they can dodge then it actually makes your aim worse and we all know all the pros dodge like maniacs. I've watched his demos when he made the transition and his lg was much stronger then when he used cl_mouseacceloffset 0 but only against noobs who can't dodge. EDIT: It may also be possible he is using offset 5 because it is a very good thing to use when you catch an opponent off guard in a position where they cannot dodge. But watching his style he always looked better with 0.

Thingshaft was awesome. Everyone who played good used it imo. At least I cannot remember playing without it.

Rapha cares about reactivity more than accuracy; he would probably never play without acceleration or with a sensitivity as ridicolously low as Strenx's is;
About Cooller, the inverted axis doesn't change anything, since you get used to it;
and many settings of the oldschool players are heavily influenced by their q3 past; low resolution, basic huds, hitbeep 1, etc., may all be explained even by this.

if you don't have a bind to toggle auto pickup weapon, you are a noob.

Supposedly this kept his aim consistent and compensated for any performance/input loss from using a ball mouse.

I've always wondered, how is it measured the "dpi" of a ball mouse? And what sens did he use with the ball mouse? Because comes to think that the lift off phase is a little problematic, so a relatively high sens would be better to avoid frequently lift offs and to exploit the supposedly enormously high "dpi"...?

he used a ms mouse, and i think the dpi was lower than the wmo (400, 450), but i'm not sure.

just open it, count the spaces on the encoder well and do the math...

I thought that since ZeRo4 dropped his sens roughly in half when he switched to the wmo that perhaps the ball mouse was 200 cpi and of course the wmo 400. Pure speculation though.

well he plays on r_mode -2 which on LCD is 16:9 ratio so that might be a reason

He has been on fov 100 forever although it was before widescreens. Mayby 110-120 feels like 100 when you play wide ,havnt thought about it :)

Can someone explain me what's the point of a +zoom config? Artificially reduce sensitivity when switching to a lower zoomfov? I don't get it.
Also, how do I set up one?

q3 : thinshaft and/or a fov/weapon setup with the sensand accel automatically recalculated appropriately.
ql : just the fov/sens/accel thing. Steal noctis or fox's cfg, play in 4/3. Both zoom algorithms are broken in widescreen, it's easier to just calculate that stuff yourself and add fov sens and accel to your weapon binds.

Careful, it feels kinda spastic at first.

I have no idea. Just use this x * arctan( 0.75 * tan(desired fov/2) ) / arctan( 0.75 * tan(standard fov/2) ) with x being sens or accel.
That's zoomsensitivity 1.The formula itself is right, there's just something in ql that makes it feel awkwarly off when you're using a script. Not sure how it will feel without accel tbh.

Just in case : 90% of the people who have remnants of noctis' script in their cfg don't use it. It's not bound, all it does is waste space right next to the q3 commands.

Well, he also had extremely high accel which seemed reasonable when you watched him play. I don't think most mice had drivers back when he was on top of his game, but perhaps he had altered his windows sens. :)
