right now, pql doesnt provide everything thats needed to encompass the whole cpm gamestyle, like double jumps for example. that means you cant do certain jumps, around which whole maps were created.
seeing as how pql has only pub ca games, all the good players are playing cpma which has a pickup community and a small duel scene..
I tried out the PQL movement and it's not really that close to cpm movement. it feels like you added air control into the ql movement. I would play PQL more if it was identical movement to cpm.
since cpm in cpma feels much more crisp in terms of movement and hit registration than pql. I appreciate id software's effort to introduce cpm in ql but the end product does not feel right. Also overall cpma is a much more modern piece of software with better user features, except browser integration.
There's literally nothing that beats the smooth experience of playing cpm on a properly configured smooth server with a good connection, maybe osp on lan is a close 2nd. I have never played cpm on lan but I will presume that will be the best form of quake.
